  • Patent number: 8352318
Abstract: A marketing campaign collects data for page counts, sessions, orders, and revenue. Four kinds of campaigns are addressed: direct, deferred, site link tracking, and deferred site link tracking. A particular page visit in an end-user session “qualifies” for a campaign if it satisfies the configured conditions for the campaign; that is, if the target universal resource locator (URL) of the page is the landing page of the campaign, the referrer URL is the referrer page of the campaign, or the page tag contains the configured string for the campaign. The data is processed through a set of heuristics identified by marketing experts as the most likely paths to a sale, and exclusivity is assigned to the type of campaign with the highest priority.

  • Patent number: 8328635
Abstract: A system and method for rewarding players of wagering game with a bonus is disclosed. A database is provided for collecting and storing personal interest information from two or more players. The database comprises data fields each representing a category of personal interest information. A player tracking server is utilized to monitor the player's gaming activity. A bonus server operates in conjunction with the gaming server to determine when a bonus is to be awarded to one or more players. A player qualifies for a share of the bonus based on the common personal interest information as compared to the player that triggered the bonus award. The bonus may be shared equally or unequally by players who qualify to receive the bonus.

  • Patent number: 8323113
Abstract: A gaming machine has a display panel with permanent indicia and optionally also adapted for display of transient indicia which act with the permanent indicia as part of the gaming played on the machine. At least a portion of the permanent indicia may comprise an ink or other iridescent coating that glows in the presence of activating light, typically ultraviolet radiation. A source of the activating light is positioned to irradiate the permanent indicia portions. A controller is typically present for activating the activating light source in a predetermined manner which correlates with one or more events taking place in the particular game being played on the machine.

  • Patent number: 8269039
Abstract: The invention provides novel compounds and methods to carry out organocatalytic Michael additions of aldehydes to nitroethylene catalyzed by a proline derivative to provide ?-substituted-?-nitroaldehydes. The reaction can be rendered enantioselective when a chiral pyrrolidine catalyst is used, allowing for Michael adducts in nearly optically pure form (e.g., 96-99% e.e.). The Michael adducts can bear a single substituent or dual substituents adjacent to the carbonyl. The Michael adducts can be efficiently converted to protected ?2-amino acids, which are essential for systematic conformational studies of ?-peptide foldamers.

  • Patent number: 8266212
Abstract: A service-oriented bus for distributed gaming systems allowing gaming machines, servers, workstations, mobile PCs, handheld devices and automatic telling machines to talk together over a network. The game service bus provides a publish-and-subscribe message bus over a private network within a gaming property and/or over the public Internet across several properties. The service bus framework allows participating communicating end points to publish services or subscribe to services in a simple and standardized high level fashion, thereby enabling the devices to understand one-another, thus “talk” together. The “talking together” paradigm is rather appropriate, as it emphasizes the value that the service bus brings to a complex distributed casino gaming system that may include thousands of devices manufactured by dozens of vendors. Gaming machines may talk together in a peer-fashion over the service bus, which is well suited for multiplayer gaming.

  • Patent number: 8257170
Abstract: A method for casino operators and/or players to instantly “create” new games without requiring recertification by a gaming laboratory. New games are created on the fly by making combinations of game attributes including but not limited to theme, denomination, volatility, RTP. Game attributes are associated to pre-certified software components that are then dynamically linked to instantly offer a new game. Having players dynamically create games according to their preference totally removes the game operator's risk to compose menus of available games that players will not play.

  • Patent number: 8251809
Abstract: A gaming machine may be activated by an individual player for subsequent play by displaying to the gaming machine, without physical contact with the gaming machine, a card carried by the player. The card carries indicia which may include suitable electronic memory, to be sensed by apparatus associated with the gaming machine, to cause the wireless transfer of individualized data concerning the player from the card to the gaming machine or to a computer network that is associated with the gaming machine. The data is evaluated against a stored database, which database may include identification of the card holder. The data is then evaluated against the stored database, and the gaming machine is activated for subsequent play upon favorable evaluation of the data.
