  • Patent number: 5313733
Abstract: A combination cover and elongated friction device for holding the cover in position on a firearm is provided. The device can be used with different type guns. The cover is provided with holes and slots, for holding a bolt or hammer in a fixed position, and is shaped, to enclose the trigger or prevent movement of firearm parts, and has plural sized apertures to receive protrusion of the elongated friction device. The friction device has plural protrusions larger than the sized apertures to create an interference fit that requires specific force to remove so that there is a resistance to accidental discharge and use of the firearm by children.

  • Patent number: 5309925
Abstract: A reflective metallic foil is modified so that an incident laser beam is diffused into multiple beams to dissipate the energy of the incident beam. The surface can have protrusions that range from 0.3 to 10,000 microns high with an average diameter of from 1 to 1,000 microns and an average spacing between protrusions of from 0.2 to 5,000 microns. The surface of the metallic foil can be provided with a first type pattern consisting of protrusions and indentations having an optimum range of 0.3 to 20 microns deep having average optimum diameter of 2 to 40 microns with an average optimum spacing between protrusions of 1 to 100 microns or a second type pattern consisting of protrusions and indentations having an optimum range of 20 to 100 microns deep having an average optimum diameter of 20 to 100 microns with an average optimum spacing of from 20 to 200 microns. The second type pattern can be superimposed on patterns of the first type.

  • Patent number: 5299877
Abstract: An applicator for coating materials, such as shoe polish, is made with a relatively rigid open cell foam coating pad. The foam has an average of from 12 to 25 pores per linear centimeter with an average pore size being from 0.4 to 2 microns. The pad rigidity can be provided by a hard material per se or by having a flexible porous foam material compressed from its original volume to from 1/10th to 1/20th its original volume. The coating pad has less than a 20% compression when subjected to a 400 gm/cm.sup.2 pressure. The coating pad can be used with a pigmented coating material or polish with an average particle size of from 0.4 to 1 micron.

  • Patent number: 5165827
Abstract: An axially moveable portable tool, such as a drill, and a guide for the tool are disclosed. The guide has a base with a post and a handle attached to and extending from the base. The post and handle are positioned so that a projection of the time of force applied during use to the tool grip and to the handle, both fall substantially within the base footprint. The upper extremity of the post can be provided with attachments that form parallel guide means or with angular sections that form a external guide for standard size and shaped portable tools. The portable tools can be easily attached to the post to assume a specific angle with the base and can be easily removed from it for independent use.

  • Patent number: 5160231
Abstract: The invention is to an improvement for power tool presses of the type that clamp a portable tool, such as a drill, for use as the cutting means. A commonly used base, column, support bracket, rack and pinion and actuating handle are used. The press is provided with a pressure plate that is driven by the actuating handle to drive the cutting means. The power tool is securely and accurately positioned on a guide post or by parallel adjustable guide means. A single simple lock plate holds the power tool in position on the press or releases it for removal from the press. The tool is quickly removed from and quickly and accurately repositioned in alignment on the guide and easily clamped to it.

  • Patent number: 5150993
Abstract: A guide for an axially movable hand-held tool, such as a drill, is disclosed. The guide has a base that supports a pivot assembly including a post attachment with a guide post and an angle locator, used with an adjustment shaft for angle cuts. A "U" bracket adjustably supports the post attachment on the guide base. One end of the adjustment shaft is shaped to prevent rotation while permitting reciprocation of the shaft within the "U" bracket. A handle cooperates with the adjustment shaft to clamp the pivot assembly to the "U" bracket and guide base at selected angles and is used to position and control the guide during use. A spring biases the post attachment toward one leg of the "U" bracket for angle selection, location and retention.

  • Patent number: 5056605
Abstract: A multipurpose cutting device for use with power drives is disclosed. Specific and different blade configurations are provided on opposite sides of an elongated bar or a disk type support for performing different cutting functions. By securing one side of the elongated bar or disk to the end of a shaft, one function can be performed. By securing the other opposite side of the elongated bar or disk to the shaft a different function can be performed. By securing or using the elongated bar or disk at an angle to the material being cut both blade configurations can be used simultaneously to perform yet another function. The blades on the one side and the blades on the other side of the elongated bar or disk may each have the blade configuration facing in one direction of rotation of one shape and the configuration facing in the other direction of another shape for different cutting characteristics when the direction of rotation is reversed.

  • Patent number: 5006022
Abstract: An axially moveable portable tool, such as a drill, and a guide for the tool are disclosed. The tool is provided with a gripping means and an internal guideway parallel to the axis of tool movement on the grip side of the tool. The guide has a base with a post and a handle attached to and extending from the base. The post and handle are positioned so that a projection of the line of force applied during use to the tool grip and to the handle, both fall substantially within the base footprint. The portable tool can be attached to the post to assume a specific angle with the base and can be easily removed from it for independent use.

  • Patent number: 4979499
Abstract: A sterile, disposable laryngoscope blade sheath for use in the intubation process is disclosed. The sheath either provides for or permits the laryngoscope structure to perform the desired or designed functions. Such functions may be, for example, the manipulation of the epiglottis while maintaining the tongue positioned. This is accomplished by either providing an opening in the end of a rigid sheath for the shaped blade end to project through, or by shaping the rigid sheath so that it can perform the function using or independent of the blade end shape, or by providing a resilient end section that assumes or conforms to the shape of the blade.
