Abstract: A stack of bank notes with substantially parallelepiped shape and a defined stacking axis is formed by a forming machine and fed by a gripper to a banding unit equipped with a part which receives and grips each stack, which operates in conjunction with a banding machine for the application of a pair of first retaining bands, each wrapped around the stack at its opposite ends and at least one second retaining band which is wrapped around the stack in such a way that it is in contact with two transversal surfaces and two lateral surfaces, so that portions of the first bands and second band overlap one another on each of the two opposite transversal surfaces.
Abstract: Methods for identifying a note with a partial OCR of one or more characters in the note's serial code. The methods record the characters read and associates each character read with its field position in the serial code. The method can use this information or combine the character and field information with positional information of the note within a stack in order to identify a note with a reasonable degree of statistical probability.
Abstract: A one-step chemical spot test for the qualitative determination of lead in lead-based paint and other media. This test is based upon the reaction of lead with sodium rhodizonate under strong acid conditions to develop an intense purple colored complex. The acid preferred is dilute hydrochloric acid. The test is performed in one step using a dropper, plastic cylinders, or like apparatus.
Abstract: An improved container for food and other perishable products comprising a simple construction and a multi-functional cap. The container allows for the storage of multiple products separately within the container as well as consumption of the products while “on the go.” The multi-functional cap nests over and seals the mouth end of the container, allows for the nesting of a sub-container inside the cap, and allows the products to be resealed without contaminating each other. The container is ergonomically and stylishly shaped to provide a comfortable hand grip for a variety of consumers.

Abstract: A method for determining bag size to adequately accommodate a food product filled into a ba y a form and fill machine, and subsequently determining the appropriate case pack configuration. The method efficiently and accurately determines a bag size that is large enough to accommodate the product that falls into the bag without interfering with the sealing process of the bag and while determining the appropriate amount of fill within the bag. The method uses various empirically determined relationships from historical bag sizing trials for a specific product and applies these relationships to a series of models in order to solve for a bag length. The method eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming bag sizing trials.

Abstract: A method of controlling banknotes provides for acquiring a first image of a banknote having two successive prints; determining a relative deviation of the prints; determining deformation of the banknote; forming a second image as a function of the relative deviation, of the deformation, and of a third and fourth image characteristic of the respective successive prints; and emitting an error signal when the luminance values of the first image are outside first ranges relating to luminance values of the second image, or when the relative deviation is outside a second range.
