  • Patent number: 5081967
Abstract: A piston for an internal combustion engine with a separate head and skirt which are joined by a piston pin. The ring belt extends downward from the head and terminates above the pin. The space between the lower edge of the ring belt and a section of the head defines a cooling oil ring space. A depression is formed in the head and is partly defined by the section. The section has a thickness of between four percent and seven percent of the piston diameter, corresponding to an angle of zero to sixty degrees of the section with respect to a vertical longitudinally extending line. The thickness of the head above the space is six percent to twelve percent of the piston diameter. The top of the space is below the top ring groove. Above the second ring groove, the ring belt has a thickness of greater than two and one-half percent of the piston diameter.

  • Patent number: 5080258
Abstract: A tablet dispenser comprises a tubular housing for a drawer, which has a side wall opening through which a stack of tablets can be inserted into the drawer. A pusher is guided in the drawer and has at least one stop, which cooperates with a counterstop of the housing. A compression spring is supported on the bottom of the drawer and on the pusher and by means of the pusher pushes the tablets to the top end of the drawer. An ejector for individually ejecting the tablets is provided adjacent to said top end. Besides, the spring pushes the drawer to its retracted position in the housing. The stop or stops of the pusher is or are adapted to be forced into the housing through the open top end thereof with an elastic deformation of said stop or stops or of the pusher so that the stop or stops will be able to resiliently snap into grooves which are formed in the housing and closed near its open top end.

  • Patent number: 5077549
Abstract: In a passive infrared intrusion detection system, a signal responsive to infrared radiation received from optically divided zones of an area to be monitored is integrated to produce an integral sum. The integral sum is used to generate an alarm indication. The alarm indication is thereby responsive to the energy of the signal responsive to the infrared radiation received, thus improving sensitivity of the detection system without increasing susceptibility of generating a false alarm.

  • Patent number: 5073172
Abstract: A suction bottle for aspirating would secretions containing a small quantity of a pressure-adjusting liquid selected so that its vapor pressure conforms to a desired vacuum level. The vacuum level is maintained until the suction bottle is almost completely filled. If the liquid dissolves in the aspirated secretions, the vacuum level will decrease. The vacuum level can be varied by changing the temperature. The bottled can be made with thinner walls than bottles used heretofore because the risk of deformation during sterilizing is reduced as the inside pressure rises with the increase in temperature. For the purpose of connecting a suction bottle with a connecting tube joined with a wound draining system, provision is made for a connection system embodied as a suction controlling device.

  • Patent number: 5072714
Abstract: The invention relates to a generator arrangement, in particular, ignition systems for internal combustion engines. The arrangement comprises a multi-legged core of magnetically conducting material with the legs radially projecting towards a cooperating magneto flywheel, which exhibits a section with unsymmetrical magnetic flux. The legs carry uniformly wound windings and are connected in two groups in the case of a one-cylinder internal combustion engine. The one group comprises two windings interconnected such that they only deliver an induced voltage when passed by the unsymmetrical section. The other group delivers an induced sum voltage. The voltage of the first mentioned group controls the ignition process whereas the second group charges a capacitor, component of the ignition system.
