    Abstract: A method and system for controlling the operation of a vehicle is disclosed that includes a radio frequency transponder and a vehicle configured to respond to data stored in the transponder by preventing or disabling operation of the vehicle under certain conditions indicated by data stored in the transponder. A communications controller receives the data from the transponder, then monitors the operation of the vehicle to make sure it is operated within the limits that are stored in the transponder. By communicating with other controllers on the vehicle that are in charge of other subsystems, it receives information relating to whether the operational limits of the vehicle have been approached or exceeded, and takes appropriate action in that event, the action may include not enabling the vehicle initially, or disabling the vehicle, or causing an operator display to indicate which limit has been exceeded or approached.

    Abstract: A baler is described which has a collection chamber or duct and a baling chamber. Crop material enters the duct until a pre-determined level has been reached at which time a stuffer transfers the pre-compressed crop to the baling chamber. A control system is provided for calculating the ratio between the amount of crop material which should be formed into bales under optimal conditions and the rate of flow of crop material entering the duct. This ratio can be displayed and used to control the speed of the towing vehicle. The present invention uses the duct as a kind of measuring cylinder to determine the rate at which crop material is entering the baler.

The method includes steps of removing heat from the lubricating fluid by placing the lubricating fluid in contact with the outer surface of a coil, and removing the heat from the inner surface of the coil by circulating the cooling fluid through the passage.

    Abstract: A conditioner roll design is provided that employs unique spiraled stepped grooves that enhance feeding of the crop mat when the rolls are abutted or at precise gaps. The groove has a leading edge and increased depth that allow expansion of the crop mat into the trailing gripper edges to provide gripping without intermeshing. The gripping side of the groove is nearly perpendicular to the direction of crop travel for positive gripping and advancing the crop. The grooves on the two rolls may be selectively timed to either mate at the point of contact or align a groove on one roll with a smooth surface on the other.

    Abstract: A cooler arrangement for agricultural implements, particularly for tractors is quickly and easily moved to permit access thereto for cleaning. The cooler block contains at least a front cooler, a central cooler, and a rear cooler. The rear cooler is attached at a fixed position on the frame of the agricultural tractor and the central cooler can be moved away from the rear cooler while the front cooler can also be moved away from the central cooler. The front cooler is suspended so that is can move sufficiently upwardly and, if necessary, also forwardly, that the central cooler can be swung away from the rear cooler unhindered to the side at about a right angle. The front cooler is joined to a tilting mechanism having a lever arm pointing in the direction of travel of the tractor.

    Abstract: A method for controlling clutch pressures during power shifts involving detecting clutch slippage, utilizing individual pressure control. In the shift, the pressure in the off-going clutch is ramped down over a time interval, for instance, an interval of from about 0.10 seconds to about 0.15 seconds, while the ratio of input speed to output speed is determined at more frequent intervals, such as about 0.01 second intervals, such that torque can be determined as a function of the clutch slippage. The speed ratio is checked frequently, for instance, 10 to 15 times during the ramp down of clutch pressure, resulting in 10 to 15 measured torque levels, to allow more precise adjustment of pressure in the off-going clutch, as well as the on-coming clutch.

    Abstract: The apparatus is a rear extension on a conventional round baler that already produces round bales partially wrapped with plastic around only their cylindrical surface. The additional structure includes a table to receive the bale and rotate the bale so that the unwrapped surfaces face forward and back, after which pivoting arms aligned with the sides of the baler clamp the bale, lift it off the table, and rotate it end over end to continue the wrapping process around the previously uncovered ends. When the bale is completely wrapped, the baler's knife cuts the plastic sheet, and the arms continue pivoting rearward before releasing the bale onto the ground.

    Abstract: A rotary disc cutterhead knife mounting system uses a spring plate bolted to the underside of the cutterhead cover. A knife pin is attached also to the underside of the cover, adjacent the outer edge thereof, and extends downwardly therefrom. The knife has a mounting hole therethrough, slightly larger that the diameter of the knife pin. With the knife hole fitted on the knife pin, the spring plate compresses the knife toward the underside of the cover; holding the knife in operating position. A special tool is used to remove the knife by forcing the spring plate downward, freeing the knife.

Each of the axles extends outward from the vehicle and a wheel is fixed to its outer end. A spur gear on a parallel shaft inside the axle housing engages a spur gear on the axle and drives it to provide one gear reduction. A bevel gear in the axle housing engages a bevel gear on the parallel shaft to provide another gear reduction. The vehicle has a drive system located on each side of the vehicle to collectively drive four wheels.
