  • Patent number: 4649713
Abstract: A sensing and control device is provided for monitoring the build up of frost, ice and condensate on the cooling coils of refrigeration unit. The microwave unit is placed a fixed distance away from a cooling coil and provides an emitted wave and reflected wave. The reflected wave, and the resulting standing wave, shift in spacial phase which differs due to the accumulation of ice or frost and provides a voltage change which is observed by an electronic circuit to shut off the cooling unit while activating a defrost cycle or merely keeping the refrigeration shut off until the ice melts. The sensing and control unit is also used to sense the removal of ice and frost by heating of the defrost cycle and thus establish the termination of defrost cycle and restoration of refrigeration.

  • Patent number: 4635710
Abstract: A linear radiant ceiling panel and method of manufacturing and providing a plurality of elongated, extruded panels located in spaced relationship and comprising an extruded aluminum plate member having a saddle adapted to receive and hold a copper tube having heat conducting fluid circulating therein. The extruded plates have channels on each side of the saddle to receive a fastener and connect the plates to a supporting grid structure in a room. The side margins of the channel are adapted to connect with a removable linear sheet metal member which is a thin piece of metal that connects to the outer surface of the extruded sheet to provide an attractive, replaceable ceiling component exposed to the interior of a room.

  • Patent number: 4598530
Abstract: A light weight, shipping package for small glass vials and the like and providing an expanded polystyrene package having a plurality of chambers aligned opposite one another and including thin outer walls formed by first producing the package as a large billet and thereafter simultaneously cutting the billet into individual packages and thus achieving an objective of having a thin wall package without the attendant high production costs normally encountered in thin wall package construction.

  • Patent number: 4577809
Abstract: A gathering and storing device for electric extension cords and comprising a frame providing a handle member at the upper end to be grasped by the user and a foot bar to be located on the ground and stood on by the user to stabilize the cord gathering device during use. A rotatable reel has a handle which is rotated to gather the cord. A slack adjuster is located adjacent the handle and includes a pressure plate to which the user's fingers are applied to provide a slight pressure to insure that the cord is gathered onto the reel in a neat and orderly fashion. The pressure plate has finger members which guide the cord and prevent it from slipping off the pressure plate. A locking ring is attached about the frame and can be placed about a portion of the reel to insure the reel does not move during storage.

  • Patent number: 4576351
Abstract: A portable stroke victim's arm rest is provided to provide multi-positional means of comfort for the victim's arm and in particular to prop the victim's arm at an incline to prevent accumulation of fluids in the hand and wrist area. The portable stroke victim's arm rest provides means for stably receiving an arm of a chair as well as means for being stably secured on a flat surface such as a table or the like.

  • Patent number: 4483451
Abstract: A bottle closure device adapted to be attached to a cork used to seal bottles and including a cork piercing shaft with a bottom adapted to be inserted through the cork and until the bottom disk portion comes in contact with the bottom of the cork. A top cap is then threaded onto the portion of the shaft extending through the cork and tightened and brought into contact with the cork to firmly restrain the cork at both ends to allow it to be reinserted into a bottle. Thus, after a cork is removed by a conventional corkscrew, this attachment allows the cork to be reused without disintegrating or breaking into pieces and entering the bottle or coming into contact with the fluid in the bottle.

  • Patent number: 4423965
Abstract: An elongated clock includes a pair of adjacent, cylindrical, rolls providing one roll with five minute segments indicated and a second roll with twelve hours of morning and evening indicated. These rolls are mounted about a shaft connected with a constant speed motor which rotates the minute cylinder at a constant rate. A gearing arrangement at the end of the shaft couples the shaft with the roll indicating hours and turns the hour roll once every hour. A segmented drive gear is coupled to the shaft and includes a pair of teeth which engage a pinion which in turn has every tooth meshing with a gear attached to turn the hour roll. Thus, one complete rotation of the shaft produces one-twelfth of a full rotation of the hour roll. The pinion gear is prevented from overriding after indexing because a locking rim of the segmented drive gear nestles into gear teeth extensions of every other tooth of the pinion gear.

  • Patent number: 4411371
Abstract: A locking device for a hatch cover is attached to a hinged carrier bar and has a flexible lock strip pivotally attached to the upper surface thereof and movable in a horizontal plane between a locked position underlying an associated roof top mounted latch member and an unlocked position rotated away from the latch member. The locking strip includes a handle which allows it to move in cantilever fashion whereby a locking finger on the flexible strip is lifted and removed from an associated locking opening allowing the strip to be rotated away from the latch to unlock the hatch cover.
