Abstract: Solid objects are formed in an imagewise layering process in which components of a dispersion are homogenized to form an alloy. Imagewise exposure of the layers to radiation to form an alloy permits separation of the exposed, homogenized regions from non-exposed, non-homogenized regions. As each layer is formed and imagewise homogenized, contiguous layer regions are bonded together to form a homogenized, three-dimensional object which may be separated from surrounding dispersion.
Abstract: Marine aquaculture apparatus comprises a submersible torus-shaped enclosure having perforations therein. Structure is provided for raising the torus-shaped enclosure to the surface of a body of water and lowering the enclosure into the body of water. An access door on the torus-shaped enclosure provides entry into interior portions thereof. These interior portions of the enclosure function as a habitat for growing marine life such as fish. Preferably the torus-shaped enclosure comprises a perforated surface generated by the revolution of a circle about a vertical axis.

Abstract: Catalyst systems with a content of a platinum-group-metal catalyst, a co-catalyst, a quaternary salt and a base for the oxidative carbonylation of aromatic hydroxy compounds to the corresponding diaryl carbonates are according to the invention obtained as a mother liquor by suspension crystallization and can be returned into the carbonylation reaction or worked up to valuable materials. The crystallizate, which consists predominantly of diaryl carbonate and the parent aromatic hydroxy compound, is worked up to pure diaryl carbonate and pure hydroxy compound.

Abstract: A continuous process for the preparation of polyacetal copolymers from 1,3,5-trioxane and the comonomers known for this purpose using strong protic acids as an initiator, in which the initiator is added in an amount of 0.01 to 0.6 ppm, based on the total amount of monomers, in finely divided form to the monomer mixture, after the polymerization step the crude polymer is transferred from the polymerization reactor to a mixing unit without further intermediate steps, excess monomer is removed from the crude polymer in the mixing unit or between polymerization reactor and mixing unit by applying reduced pressure and, if desired, generally customary stabilizers, assistants, fillers, reinforcing materials and/or colorants are incorporated into the polymer in the mixing unit.

Abstract: Electronic data processing system for preparation of electronically filed tax returns and authorization and payment of refunds based on the data supplied in those returns. Electronic data processing programs are provided for creating an electronic tax return that is filed with a tax collecting authority. At the same time as the electronic tax return is created, a loan application is processed to create an electronic deposit/loan account for the tax filer at an authorized credit institution. As early as the day after completion of the tax return and loan application, the tax filer receives initial refund payment from the loan account. The authorized credit institution electronically files the electronic tax return with the tax collecting authority which processes the return and transfers by electronic fund transfer the refund amount to the deposit/loan account at the authorized credit institution. Any refund in excess of the initial refund payment is then forwarded to the tax filer.
Abstract: An inertial switch includes an open-ended outer casing formed of electrically conductive material. An insulated end cap is engageable with the open end of the outer casing to enclose the outer casing. An electrically conductive pin extends through the end cap and into the casing and is electrically isolated from the outer casing by the end cap. A longitudinally extending helical coil spring is secured to the pin adjacent one end thereof. The spring is electrically isolated from the outer casing but is deflectable about a longitudinal axis thereof to contact the outer casing thereby to close the inertial switch in response to accelerations of the inertial switch.

Abstract: The production of a silver halide emulsion in an aqueous protective colloid solution by the reaction of, on the one hand, silver nitrate, and, on the other, at least one water-soluble halide, may be performed particularly simply and with great apportioning accuracy, if, during at least part of the precipitation, at least the predominant part of one reactant is added in the form of a solid salt to the aqueous protective colloid solution.
Abstract: An aquatic exercise and rehabilitation device includes an exercise cycle which is mounted in a tank or water holding vessel. The user would sit on a seat and the user's legs would be placed on pedals connected to the wheel. The wheel unit can be rotated from the force from the user or alternatively the rotational force could be imparted by a rotating drive surface which contacts the wheel unit. A particularly suitable form of rotating drive surface is a treadmill which optionally offers an alternative form of underwater exercise. Another form of drive surface is a cycle.
