  • Patent number: 4379329
Abstract: In a method of constructing a representation of the distribution of absorption in a planar region of a body interpolation is provided, between data signals representing absorption of radiation along parallel paths, to provide signals for an increased number of such paths as required for the processing used. The interpolation is performed by forming differences of second or higher order, subdividing the differences and then combining them by running additions.

  • Patent number: 4294626
Abstract: The surface treatment is carried out by employing an apparatus comprising a vessel and a holed container rotatably equipped in said vessel.Materials to be treated are filled into said holed container of said apparatus then treating liquids and/or washing liquids are charged in order into said holed container according to the treatment process and said holed container is driven to rotate thus treating liquids and/or washing liquids contact whole surface of said materials and the treatment is carried out. After the treatment, treating liquids and/or washing liquids are effectively removed from the surface of said materials by the centrifugal force accompanying with the rotation of said holed container.

  • Patent number: 4195455
Abstract: A soffit system includes a plurality of panels of individually adjustable length, in a side-by-side nested array supported on at least two spaced-apart stringer members. Each adjustable panel has at least two similar components, an end portion of one being inserted in an end portion of the other so that the two components overlap. Each component has a horizontal web and two parallel side flanges with conformingly curved profiles opening in the same direction, i.e. one flange being externally concave and the opposite externally convex. The side flanges of the overlapped components snap fit together to interlock their overlapping end portions, thus providing the adjustable-length feature.

  • Patent number: 4121747
Abstract: Large diameter storage tanks are constructed from strip metal wound in a helical path in which the tank is built upwardly. The strip is fed to a support assembly arranged circularly on a base, and the upper edge of the strip that is fed to the support assembly is aligned with the lower edge of the helical turn immediately thereabove so that the edges are spaced apart in a vertical plane from each other and then butt welded together. The strip is vertically adjusted to maintain a predetermined spacing of adjacent helical turns of the strip in the area of the welding thereof. The support structure in the area of the welding includes parts positioned on opposite sides of the strips, the inside one of which may be collapsed to permit removal of the assembly following completion of the tank. Top structures accommodating the helically wound strip are utilized.

  • Patent number: 4119060
Abstract: A development apparatus for use with dry type copying apparatus having: a development roller, which is rotated in close proximity to a latent electrostatic image bearing recording material; a hopper for supplying an insulating toner onto the development roller; and a single developer regulating member in the form of a blade having an acute angle tip disposed at the edge of or right behind the outlet of the hopper in such manner that the top surface of the member forms an acute angle with the downstream side in the direction of development roller rotation of a tangent to the development roller at a point right under the tip of the development regulating member.

  • Patent number: 4097140
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning toner attaching to the surface of a photosensitive member of an electrophotographic copying machine of the dry, transfer type which employs a magnetic toner as developer. Subsequent to the transfer step, the magnetic toner which attaches to the surface of the photosensitive member is removed therefrom by a cylindrical brush, then transferred to a non-magnetic sleeve which internally houses a magnet, and finally scraped therefrom by a separator to fall down into a tray.

  • Patent number: 4056364
Abstract: A crystallizable solute is crystallized from a solution containing the same by introducing a solution of said solute into a first stage evaporative-crystallization zone together with seed solute crystals. Within the first stage evaporative-crystallization zone the solution is concentrated to yield a saturated first stage concentrate containing crystals of said solute. The crystals of said solute are substantially larger than said seed crystals and are suspended in a solution more concentrated with respect to said solute than the solution supplied to said first evaporative-crystallizaton zone. A stream of said first concentrate is removed from said first evaporative-crystallizaton zone and transferred to a second evaporative-crystallization zone for further concentration or crystallization of solute and for the production of solute crystals of increased size.

  • Patent number: 4022569
Abstract: In the calcination of petroleum coke or the like in a rotary kiln, utilizing controlled air supply intermediate the ends of the kiln to burn removed volatiles and thereby generate all or nearly all of the heat required, highly effective control procedure includes establishing and repeatedly re-establishing target values for temperatures of exit gas and discharging product respectively at opposite ends of the kiln, such target temperatures representing conditions of desired position of the calcining zone and desired physical character of the calcined product which is achieved by proper maximum temperature in said zone. The procedure further includes adjusting one or more of the variables of combustion air supply, RPM of the kiln, and green coke feed rate so as to keep the end temperatures at target value.

  • Patent number: 3985279
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of joining together the ends of tubular metal members by explosive welding and to a permanent, self-aligning backing mandrel for use in the method. The mandrel is in the form of a tubular member having an outer face defining a cylindrical portion and an axially adjacent tapered portion, the maximum diameter of the tapered portion being greater than the diameter of the cylindrical portion. An annular shoulder extends outwardly between the cylindrical portion and the maximum diameter end of the tapered portion, which tapers inwardly away from the shoulder. One pipe end is outwardly flared and fits over the tapered portion of the mandrel and the other pipe end is non-flared and fits over the cylindrical portion, abutting the shoulder. The outer end of the flared pipe end overlaps the non-flared pipe, defining therewith an annular wedge-shaped outwardly-opening space. An explosive is located around this outer overlapping end and is detonated to weld the ends together.
