  • Patent number: 4670686
Abstract: An internal magnetic shield disposed within a CRT has a machine-stamped integral bar member formed parallel to a flat surface thereof such that a narrow underpass is formed between the two ends of the bar member. A flat end of a contact spring having a resilient ramp-shaped tongue projecting therefrom is inserted through the underpass sufficiently to allow the end of the tongue to clear the bar member and spring back to contact the edge of the bar member, thereby preventing removal of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4667945
Abstract: A device for locating and orienting objects at a precise location includes a lever pivoted to a fixed support. The lever supports a first urging member arranged at a first preselected distance from the pivot axis. A second urging member is pivoted to the lever at a second predetermined distance from the pivot axis. Pivoting of the lever causes the urging members to urge the object into the desired precise location and orientation.

  • Patent number: 4665429
Abstract: A photodetector array interface circuit includes a pixel counter circuit having a plurality of sequentially numbered counters for counting pulses in a pixel oscillator signal, and a pixel counter gating circuit coupled to the pixel counter circuit for receiving both the pixel oscillator signal and a digital video signal and sequentially selecting the counters to receive the pixel oscillator signal such that the next sequential counter receives the pixel oscillator signal whenever the digital video signal changes. The interface circuit further comprises circuitry for sequentially reading the counters such that a particular counter is read only when the next sequential counter has received the pixel oscillator signal.

  • Patent number: 4662757
Abstract: The relative transverse position of a measuring device and the aperture patterns in a longitudinally and transversely moving strip of material is held constant. A platform, which supports the measuring device, moves transversely along with the strip. Multi-element energy sensors are supported on the platform at the longitudinal edges of the pattern. Different numbers of elements are illuminated when the strip is off center and a difference signal is provided. The difference signal is used to move the platform to maintain the desired constant transverse relative positioning.

  • Patent number: 4662756
Abstract: A device for sensing the longitudinal edges of an aperture pattern in a longitudinally and transversely moving opaque strip of material includes a transversely moveable platform. Arrays of detector elements are supported on the platform and positioned such that some elements of each array are opposite the aperture patterns and other elements of each array are opposite the opaque borders of the strip. Energy sources are individually arranged on the side of the strip opposite the arrays whereby the elements opposite the aperture pattern receive energy and the elements opposite the borders are shielded. The energy conditions of the elements are detected and the platform is moved transversely to maintain an equal number of elements in both arrays opposite the apertures whereby the platform tracks the transverse motion of the strip.

  • Patent number: 4641256
Abstract: A system for measuring the energy transmission through a moving aperture pattern includes a CCD (charge coupled device) sensor having at least one row of pixels arranged perpendicular to the direction of motion. An encoder responds to the motion and provides count pulses. For each count pulse, specific pixels are addressed to establish a plurality of inspection areas for the aperture pattern through which energy transmission is measured. The transmission is averaged for all the inspection areas to determine the acceptability of the aperture pattern.

  • Patent number: 4639775
Abstract: In a method of detecting blemishes in the proximity of the perimeter of a CCD image, pairs of adjacent pixels in the proximity of the perimeter are sequentially considered. For each pair of adjacent pixels, a plurality of pixels, in a blemish detection pixel pattern extending toward the center of the image are considered. The sum of the four outer pixels in the pixel pattern are compared to the sum of the inner pixels and the variance is compared to selected minimum and maximum differences. When the variance is outside either the minimum or the maximum differences a blemish has been detected. When the difference is within the two differences no blemish has been found. The blemish pattern is moved one pixel toward the center of the image and the process repeated. The difference comparison is repeated for a selected plurality of times and if desired the differences can be changed for some of the comparisons.

  • Patent number: 4635124
Abstract: An auxiliary focusing circuit for an automatic focusing solid state array camera includes a control circuit and a drive circuit. The camera includes a switch which is actuated when the lens travels a selected distance without being focused. The control circuit responds to the switch and actuates the drive circuit. The switch also reverses the direction of travel of the lens. The drive circuit rotates an optical scanning member and the camera can be focused while the lens travels in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4625237
Abstract: Blemishes in the proximity of the perimeter of an image on a charge coupled device (CCD) are detected. The image pixels adjacent to the perimeter are sequentially detected and three consecutive pixels define a motion as either straight, clockwise or counterclockwise. The detection occurs in a clockwise direction and straight or clockwise motions are permitted. When two counterclockwise motions are detected, and a clockwise motion has not occurred between them, a blemish signal is provided.

  • Patent number: 4623221
Abstract: A device for providing a substantially flat light field to a light imaging medium includes a transparent disc and an optical system. The surface of the disc is made opaque and light is coupled to the optical system through the edge of the disc by reflection from the internal surface of the disc. The intensity of light passing through the disc to the optical system decreases as the distance from the coupling edge increases. The combined effects of the disc and the optical system result in a substantially flat light field.

  • Patent number: 4618355
Abstract: A method for sealing a mount including a wafer in a neck of a stationary cathode-ray tube comprises positioning a first tier of burner tips completely around the neck such that the burner tips are aimed nonradially along directions tangent to a first circle, the plane of the first circle being aligned along the wafer. The first tier of burner tips is split into at least first and second radial segments, each segment being connected to means for moving the segment toward and away from the neck. The first tier of burner tips, while remaining stationary, provide a vortical pattern of flames around the neck. The radial segments are then removed from around the stationary neck sufficiently to allow the tube to proceed along a conveyor line.
