  • Patent number: 5799359
Abstract: A windshield washer and wiper assembly for cleaning a windshield of an automobile. The assembly is generally comprised of an elongated housing, a source of windshield washer fluid under pressure, a perforated bladder within the housing, means for washing the windshield mounted through the housing in contact with the bladder, a wiper blade mounted on the housing and means for deflating the bladder. The bladder, upon actuation of the washer fluid source, inflates with washer fluid, urging the washing means against the windshield while simultaneously disengaging the wiper blade from the windshield. The bladder returns to a contracted state by the deflating means upon deactivation of the washer fluid source to return the wiper blade to the windshield surface.

  • Patent number: 5660582
Abstract: This invention is a tool designed to sharpen rotary cutter blades. In a first embodiment, an inside-threaded clamp is screwed down upon the blade, pressing it tightly against a platform from which a threaded shank rises, and holding the blade from turning. When an upper casing containing an inside angled abrasive strip is lowered over the clamp until contact is made against the blade surface, the abrasive strip is brought into contact with the blade edge. When the upper casing is rotated around the tightened clamp, the abrasive acts upon the blade edge and thereby sharpens the edge. A second embodiment is comprised of a blade holder for holding the cutting blade stationary and a ring member with an abrasive strip which fits around the blade holder such that the abrasive strip contacts the edge of the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 5605374
Abstract: An adjustable padded arm rest cushion for removable attachment to the arm of a chair is disclosed. The cushion comprises: a sack having a foam cushion therein, the sack being closed by stitching around its perimeter, thereby defining a pair of opposing marginal side edges; and, a pair of elongated rings, a pair of short bands securing the elongated rings to one of the opposing side edges of the sack, and a second pair of longer bands attached to the opposing side edge opposite the short bands, the long bands have hook and loop fasteners on one surface such that when the long bands are inserted through the elongated rings and folded back upon themselves, the fasteners secure the long bands in place and secure the sack to the arm of the chair. The bottom of the sack is split down its middle into two overlapping portions of about equal size to allow the pad to be easily removed from and inserted into the sack.

  • Patent number: 5540744
Abstract: An apparatus for collecting grease from a kitchen ventilator, which is mounted on the roof of a structure housing a restaurant. The apparatus fits around the exhaust fan of a kitchen ventilator and includes at least one layer of filtering medium which fits snugly about the exhaust fan, a rectangular frame for securing the layer of filtering medium about the exhaust fan, and a plurality of retaining bars for securing the layer of filter medium in the rectangular frame. The rectangular frame is comprised of four frame sections joined at each end with 90.degree. elbows. Each frame section comprises three tubes with supports fitted between the tubes. The 90.degree. elbows fit over and join the tubes of one frame section with the tubes of another frame section. The retaining bars are positioned between two tubes of opposing frame sections, above the layer of filtering medium.

  • Patent number: 5499771
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for cutting trees and grinding and mulching tree stumps. The apparatus includes a semi-spherical arcuate shield with a control mount and a foot mount attached to the arcuate shield. A cylindrical drum having cutting teeth mounted on the periphery of the drum is mounted below the arcuate shield such that the arcuate shield covers the upper forward and rearward surfaces of the drum. The drum is preferably mounted a constant radial distance from the arcuate shield. Debris limiting rings are mounted below the arcuate shield on each end of the drum. A belt guard is mounted on each debris limiting ring. An end plate is mounted on each belt guard, enclosing the space between the debris limiting ring, the belt guard, and the end plate. An output shaft extends through the drum and debris limiting rings, rotatably mounted in an end cap on one end of the apparatus and having a pulley mounted on the other end. The pulley engages a belt which engages a shaft above the arcuate shield.
