    Abstract: Where a fluid cooling medium cools a plurality of heat-producing devices arranged in a row along a generalized coordinate direction, with a space between each adjacent pair of devices, each space may have a partition that defines a boundary between a first plenum and a second plenum. The first plenum carries cooling medium across an entrance and thence into a first heat-producing device located on a first side of the partition facing the first plenum. The second plenum carries cooling medium away from a second heat-producing device located on a second side of the partition facing the second plenum and thence across an exit. The partition is disposed so that the first plenum becomes smaller in cross-sectional area as distance increases from the entrance, and the second plenum becomes larger in cross sectional area as distance decreases toward the exit.

    Abstract: A superconducting device operable at temperatures in excess of 30° K. and a method for making the device are described. A representative device is an essentially coplanar SQUID device formed in a single layer of high Tc superconducting material, the SQUID device being operable at temperatures in excess of 60° K. High energy beams, for example ion beams, are used to convert selected portions of the high Tc superconductor to nonsuperconductive properties so that the material now has both superconductive regions and nonsuperconductive regions. In this manner a superconducting loop having superconducting weak links can be formed to comprise the SQUID device.

    Abstract: Probes for electronic devices are described. The probe is formed by ball bonding a plurality of wires to contact locations on a fan out substrate surface. The wires are cut off leaving stubs. A patterned polymer sheet having electrical conductor patterns therein is disposed over the stubs which extend through holes in the sheet. The ends of the wires are flattened to remit the polymer sheet in place. The wire is connected to an electrical conductor on the polymer sheet which is converted to a contact pad on the polymer sheet. A second wire is ball bonded to the pad on the polymer sheet and cut to leave a second stub. The polymer sheet is laser cut so that each second stub is free to move independently of the other second studs. The ends of the second stubs are disposed against contact locations of an electronic device, such as an FC chip, to test the electronic device.

A post deposition process is implemented to obtain the desired properties (stability of optical properties with respect to laser irradiation and acid treatment) for use in industry. The inventive interconnect structure also includes a hard mask which assists in forming the interconnect structure of the dual damascene-type.

In addition, an encryption engine embedded in the smart Java card decodes and compares the entered PIN combined with a secure key or security certificate to verify the identity of the user. Before the bank account can be accessed freely by the user, the bank's computer system checks the combined secure data to ensure the authenticity of the card and the user's identity with multiple check points using Internet security protocols via Web browsers.
