  • Patent number: 8145292
Abstract: A method and system are provided for effecting interactive, three-dimensional renderings of selected body organs for purposes of medical observation and diagnosis. A series of CT images of the selected body organs are acquired. The series of CT images is stacked to form a three-dimensional volume file. To facilitate interactive three-dimensional rendering, the three-dimensional volume file may be subjected to an optional dataset reduction procedure to reduce pixel resolution and/or to divide the three-dimensional volume file into selected subvolumes. From a selected volume or subvolume, the image of a selected body organ is segmented or isolated. A wireframe model of the segmented organ image is then generated to enable interactive, three-dimensional rendering of the selected organ.

  • Patent number: 6854086
Abstract: A document production system is provided for preparing documents and managing a database of information pertaining to investigational studies of medical products. The document production system includes a data management user interface for providing user access to the database and for retrieving information from the database as specified by selected document templates for placement into word processor-compatible documents. Additionally, the data management user interface is capable of updating information stored within the database in accordance with information specified within a previously-prepared document.

  • Patent number: 5601359
Abstract: A flashlight is provided with a conductive casing and a resilient sleeve positioned on the conductive casing. The sleeve is mounted on the casing by conducting a flow of pressurized gas through the casing, aligning the sleeve with the rear end of the casing to inflate the sleeve, and then urging the sleeve onto the casing. The sleeve is configured to expose the forward end of the casing, which is threaded to rotatably engage a head assembly. The head assembly includes a spring positioned therein for mounting a conductive rim of a lamp socket in abutment with the forward end of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5186827
Abstract: A magnetic separator for separating magnetic particles from a non-magnetic test medium is disclosed herein. The magnetic separator includes a non-magnetic container having a peripheral wall with an internal surface area for receiving the test medium, and magnetic means for generating a magnetic field gradient within the container in which the magetic field is stronger in the test medium along the internal surface area of the peripheral wall than in the medium most distant from the wall.

  • Patent number: 4963870
Abstract: A digital/analog converting device comprises a first digital/analog converter for converting upper M bits of an input digital signal into a first analog signal; a memory for receiving, as address data, at least a digital signal of lower N bits of the input digital signal to output lower-bit-output-approximate data of S (S>N) bits in response to the address data; a second digital/analog converter for converting digital data at least including the S-bit lower-bit-output-approximate data into a second analog signal; and an analog adder for outputting an added analog signal obtained by adding the first and second analog signals at a predetermined ratio. The S-bit lower-bit-output-approximate data are set such that, supposing a level change of the added analog signal with respect to a change of an LSB of the upper M bits being .DELTA.L, a minimum step increase of the digital signal of lower N bits causes a level of the added analog signal to increase by about .DELTA.L/2.sup.N.
