  • Patent number: 8028790
Abstract: A megaphone comprises a rigid but bendable material with a tapered shape. When the material is folded, the produced megaphone has a small opening at one end and a larger opening at the other end. The megaphone has edges that form an opening along the side such that when pressure is applied to the edges the opening expands allowing the megaphone to be positioned on a person's arm or leg. Once positioned on the arm of leg the rigidity of the material causes the megaphone return to its original cone shape. The megaphone can enclose around a user's arm or leg for storage purposes during an event. Information can be displayed on the surface of the megaphone. The megaphone of the present invention can be folded and unfolded.

  • Patent number: 7491189
Abstract: The present invention system allows for an easier insertion and placement of IV catheters. This invention comprises a clip device attachable to a conventional catheter. The clip enables the practitioner to insert and withdraw the catheter device from the patient with the use of only one hand. This ability to perform this procedure with only one hand enables the practitioner to use the other free hand to hold, secure and restrain the patient. As a result, this invention greatly reduces the need to reinsert the needle multiple times because patient movement has affected the insertion process.

  • Patent number: 7350473
Abstract: The present invention simplifies the process of placing quilt ties in the quilt during the quilt making process. The quilt tie device contains a plurality of openings that identify locations in the quilt for quilt ties. A quilt maker places the quilt tie device over a top layer of the quilt. The quilt tie device is positioned such that the openings in the device are at locations on the quilt where the maker desires to place quilt ties. The quilt maker performs the quilt tie operation by tying a quilt tie in the quilt layer at each location in the quilt that indicated by an opening in the quilt tie device.

  • Patent number: 7338055
Abstract: A reconfigurable medical workstation enables efficient arrangement of medical equipment used to provide care to a specific patient. The workstation contains a comportment space that can be divided into compartments as needed to house the medical equipment. The compartment configurations can be uniquely created to house the specific medical equipment for the patient. Because the needs of patients are different and require different kinds of medical equipment the compartment configuration for one patient can be different in the present invention from the compartment configuration for another patient.

  • Patent number: 7101103
Abstract: An improved illuminated writing instrument comprises a writing element, a lighting element and an attaching element. The writing and lighting elements are secured to each other via the attaching element. The attaching element comprises a combination dual clip and a retainer clip. A dual opening clip attaches the writing instrument and the illuminating instrument such that the two instruments form one illuminated writing instrument. The invention further comprises a magnetic retainer clip to secure the illuminated writing instrument as desired by the user. In operation, the force from the magnetic field of the retainer magnet will draw the arm to the magnet. The force of the magnetic field is an amount that will secure the arm to the magnet thereby creating the mechanism that will provide the securing capabilities of the retainer clip. This clip will have the capability of securing the illuminated writing instrument as desired by the user.

  • Patent number: 7095126
Abstract: An external power source such as a battery is used to initially supply power to start an alternator and generator. Once the system has started it is not necessary for the battery to supply power to the system. The battery can then be disconnected. The alternator and electric motor work in combination to generator electrical power. The alternator supplies this electrical power to the two inverters. One inverter outputs part of its power to the lamp load device and part back to the electric motor/generator. This power is used to power the electric motor. The second inverter supplies power to the specific load devices that are connected to the system.

  • Patent number: 7028985
Abstract: The present invention provides an inline flow control valve for regulating the movement of materials through a flow line. The valve of the present invention has a design that provides external control of the inline plug instead of control based on flow pressure of the material flowing through the flow line. The valve of the present invention can comprise a one-piece housing design. This one-piece design can facilitate easier assembly and maintenance of the valve. The valve comprises a valve housing, a valve plug, guide member, and an actuation mechanism. This mechanism is a rack and pinion design comprising a shaft, a rotary pinion arm and a rack gear. The rack and pinion design converts circular motion from the shaft into linear motion of the valve plug in the flow line. The shaft, which an operator would use to control the motion of the valve plug, is not contained an integral valve bonnet.

  • Patent number: 6766314
Abstract: The present invention is an algorithm that manages the ability of a user or software program to access certain protected file resources. This invention describes a method for file system security through techniques that control access to the file system resources using externally stored attributes. This invention accomplishes the described objectives in file system security by creating an external database containing auxiliary attributes for objects in the file system. During a file access attempt, an identifier of this file will be matched against a set of protected files in a security database. If that file is not in the database, there is not protection on the file and requester will be allowed to access the file. If a match does show that the file is protected there will be a determination as to whether the requester will be allowed access to the file. The basis for this access determination will be a set security rules defined in the external security attribute.
