  • Patent number: 4687421
Abstract: A frangible pressure relief disc assembly is disclosed which is adapted to fit into a positive displacement pump on the suction side of each cylinder. The disc assembly provides a pressure relief when the fluid passing through the pump encounters a closed valve or other obstruction in the line. The disc assembly comprises: (a) a support member having a first side and a second side which is penetrated by a passage (e.g., a bore ) providing fluid communication from the first side to the second side, and (b) a pressure frangible disc fixedly attached to the support member and positioned to form a fluid-tight seal covering the passage.

  • Patent number: 4681262
Abstract: A spray head for use with a liquid to be sprayed and a propellant. The spray head includes a first cap which has segmented, arcuate, resilient, annular gripping sections having outwardly extending projections which grip an annular lip on the container of propellant. A cover on the first cap is shaped and adapted to coact with a dome on the first container so that a section of the spray head is placed under compression or tension by opposing forces when the spray head is attempted to be removed from the container of the propellant. A second cap has a body with threads to connect it to a second container which would normally contain a liquid. A bridge included in the second cap is operatively attached to the first cap. The bridge includes a channel through it and has ne end connecting an opening in the first cap. An actuator on the bridge controls a spring-biased valve n the propellant container. The other end of the channel and bridge is in close proximity to a bore in the second cap.

  • Patent number: 4668460
Abstract: A method of molding and coating in a mold a thermosetting substrate including the steps of forming the substrate between at least two separable dies which form a mold cavity therebetween, curing the substrate to the point that the substrate is receptive to a coating, injecting the coating into the mold cavity at a pressure substantially in excess of the mold cavity pressure while maintaining the dies in position whereby the coating is forced over the desired surface of the substrate and curing the coated substrate.

  • Patent number: 4517700
Abstract: An adjustable tool is provided which includes a selectively positionable and lockable handle. The tool includes a main housing having a handle shaft axially directed transversely of the housing and a handle being rotatably mounted to the handle shaft for selective rotational movement about the handle shaft. The handle shaft has a threaded portion and threadedly advanceable thumbwheel at one end and a handle retaining pad at an opposite end. The handle is interposed between the thumbwheel and the retaining pad for compressive retention between them. The retaining pad includes a locking member comprising a protrusion for nesting reception in a locking member receiving port of the handle whereby upon advancement of the thumbwheel the handle is compressively retained between the thumbwheel and the retaining pad and the locking member protrusion is received in the receiving ports for locking the handle in a selected position relative to the main housing.

  • Patent number: 4165795
Abstract: A parallel hybrid drive system for self propelled vehicles including a direct current motor-generator having a drive shaft in common with an internal combustion engine leading to a variable speed transmission and a final drive train. The motor-generator has a no-load speed, established by a separate field exciter, below which it drives the shaft as a motor and above which it is driven by the shaft as a generator. Storage batteries are operatively connected to the motor-generator to supply power to it below the no-load speed. The internal combustion engine operates over a small RPM range around its most efficient speed at a power level established by a fixed throttle setting. The transmission is operatively connected to an accelerator and direction selector switch to vary the speed and direction of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4115763
Abstract: An electrographic writing system including an electrographic writing head operatively connected to a switching system is disclosed. The electrographic writing head includes a plurality of electrically conducting styluses arranged to produce an electrostatic charge on a record medium which is normally dielectric coated paper. The styluses are supported by an insulating material, and one of the ends of each of the styluses is either substantially flush with one end of the writing head or slightly recessed. The other ends of the styluses act as part of a connecting means to the switching system. The switching system includes a plurality of diode assemblies. Each diode assembly has a sequence of diode switching circuits including a first high stored charge or slow diode, a second low stored charge or fast diode in series therewith and a capacitor. The capacitor has one end connected between the diodes and the other end to ground or a dynamic voltage.
