Abstract: A method of integrating computer visualization for the design of a vehicle includes the steps of determining a low-level geometric model of the vehicle and determining a modifiable parameter to modify the model of the vehicle. The method also includes the steps of morphing the model of the vehicle into a morphed model of the vehicle including the modifiable parameter using a computer visualization, and analyzing the morphed model of the vehicle using a computer aided engineering (CAE) analysis. The method further includes the steps of determining if the CAE analysis of the morphed model of the vehicle meets a predetermined criteria and using the morphed vehicle model in the design of the vehicle.

Abstract: An oil cooler for a vehicle with an automatic transmission that includes a core contained between two end pipes. A first one of the end pipes includes an oil inlet, for directing oil from the transmission, and an oil outlet, directing oil back to the transmission, and a dividing plate having a flow control orifice. An oil filter is positioned around the flow control orifice to filter the oil flowing through the orifice, thereby removing contaminants from the oil, while the oil flowing through the core is cooled.
Abstract: A method for simulating the formation of an adhesive joint and/or for determining the attributes of the adhesive joint is disclosed. The method allows an individual or business enterprise to consistently and reliably determine a proper amount and placement of adhesive used to form the joint.

Abstract: A method is provided of using a neutral event specification file for manufacturing line analysis. The method includes the steps of constructing a neutral event specification file having a specification format including at least one event, wherein each event has a name, description, at least one signal, and at least one action. The method also includes the step of executing a manufacturing line analysis model using the neutral event specification file.

Abstract: A torque converter for a vehicle having a substantially reduced axial length relative to a conventional circular-shaped torus cross section. The torque converter includes a turbine and an impeller, with a stator mounted generally therebetween. The stator is one piece and formed with axial pull shaped blades that have a reactor blade base axial length that extends for the majority of the radial length, a reactor shroud axial length that is less than the reactor blade base axial length, and a taper in the blade between the two axial lengths.
Abstract: A method is provided of automated rail loading of automotive vehicles. The method includes the steps of attaching tags to the automotive vehicles and performing an automated railcar identification. The method also includes the step of generating an automated load makeup based on the identified railcar and the automotive vehicles. The method includes the step of locating the automotive vehicles and loading the automotive vehicles on a railcar specified in the automated load makeup. The method further includes the step of shipping the automotive vehicles via the railcar to a final destination specified in the automated load makeup.
Abstract: A method is provided of using a neutral event file for manufacturing line analysis. The method includes the steps of constructing a neutral event file and executing a manufacturing line analysis model using the neutral event file. The method also includes the steps of determining whether a good manufacturing line exists based on the manufacturing line analysis model and using the manufacturing line analysis model to build the manufacturing line if a good manufacturing line exists.

Abstract: An apparatus 10 for determining the position of a shift rail 12 which is employed within a vehicle having a transmission 14. Apparatus 10 includes an offset lever or member 18, and a pair of proximity sensors 30, 32 which detect the distance between the sensors 30, 32 and the respective surfaces 21, 23 of member 18, and which selectively generate signals corresponding to the measured distances. A controller 38 receives the generated signals and utilizes the signals to determine the linear and angular position of shift rail 12.
