  • Patent number: 8118025
Abstract: A blow filter device for breathing masks and hoods, comprising a blower which is driven by a motor and at least one filter which is arranged upstream from the blower, in addition to an electronic control system for adjusting a predefined airflow volume. The invention is characterized in that the motor is an electronically commutated direct current motor (6) which is controlled with the aid of a pulse width modulation ratio as a control variable, wherein a calibrating curve is created and stored in the memory (14) of the electronic control system and is based on a plurality of different filter resistances and a respectively corresponding pulse-width modulation ratio (PWM) and the respective motor speed (n) for a specific volume of air.

  • Patent number: 8122190
Abstract: Memory-based permutation methods and systems are provided for the permutation of data. The memory-based permutation methods and systems provide flexibility and reconfigurability while reducing size and increasing speed. They provide the ability to program a memory, such as a Random Access Memory (RAM), to implement a permutation of source data. The RAM may be reprogrammed to change the permutation pattern thereby providing the flexibility to implement any pattern of permutation from source data to output data and the reconfigurability to change that implementation as desired. Also, the size of the RAM is greatly reduced, and as the input and output data width and number of input and output data bits increase, the size and complexity of the RAM does not increase greatly or exponentially, as with typical conventional systems.

  • Patent number: 8121588
Abstract: A system for providing emergency services in which a voice pendant provides voice signals to a corresponding radio-based voice-enabled base station which either (1) acoustically forwards the voice signals on to an existing base station or (2) forwards the voice signals on to an existing base station via a communications link. The existing base station is triggered by a triggering signal that is learned by the radio-based voice-enabled base station by either DTMF programming or by receiving the triggering signal from an existing pendant while in a learning mode.

  • Patent number: 8115240
Abstract: A process for fabricating a monocrystalline silicon micromechanical element integrated with a CMOS circuit element within the CMOS technology, wherein a domain of second conducting property is formed within a substrate of first conducting property; the second conducting property is reverse with respect to the first conducting property. A domain of monocrystalline Si is formed within the substrate for fabricating a micromechanical element. A CMOS circuit element as well as a portion of the domain are covered with a protecting layer. Front-side isotropic porous Si-etching from the exposed surface of the domain continues until the portion that will carry the micromechanical element becomes underetched. A porous Si sacrificial layer is created which at least partially encloses the portion. Then the exposed surface of the porous Si sacrificial layer is passivated by applying a metallic thin film thereon.

  • Patent number: 8111614
Abstract: During normal operation, a user terminal supported by an IP-PBX server establishes a call by resolving the name of the IP-PBX server using a DNS server. When the DNS server provides the address of the IP-PBX server, the IP-PBX server can be contacted. However, if the SIP controller learns that the IP-PBX is no longer operating, the information stored by the service provider environment may be used to build or configure an IP-Centrex server at a remote site which takes over for the failing IP-PBX server. The newly configured IP-Centrex server then registers itself with the SIP controller and either the SIP controller or the IP-Centrex server then informs the DNS server of the IP address of the IP-Centrex and tells the DNS server that the IP-Centrex server will respond to messages for the failed IP-PBX server. The newly configured IP-Centrex server then handles the messages and control flow previously handled by the IP-PBX server.

  • Patent number: 8093748
Abstract: The Universal Power Inlet System, or UPIS, is a method of providing universal attachment of 3 different types of electrical power systems into the input circuitry of a Power Distribution Unit, or PDU. This method allows use of either fixed or detachable power cord options permitting the PDU to be powered by any of the following types of electrical power sources: 3-Phase Delta, 3-Phase Star (or Wye) and Single-Phase. This method also describes a way to uniquely identify the specific power system the mentioned PDU is currently attached to. The method also optionally allows derivation of supplementary information about the electrical power system such as current capacity, or ampacity, of the power cord being used. All this information can be used for capacity monitoring and reporting as well as protection of PDU circuitry and power cords.

  • Patent number: 8083672
Abstract: The present invention is a self-retaining laryngoscope composed of a palate brace or blade, a slider, and a tongue blade. The angulated tongue blade puts less force on the blade, reduces trauma, and is not conducive for mechanical failure. The slider interacts with the tongue blade by widening the opening of the mouth, and acts as a bite block. The fenestrated palate blade provides an unobstructed view of the vocal cords during intubation, and allows removal of the laryngoscope over the endotracheal tube without displacing it. The result is a laryngoscope that requires only one hand to use properly, and has superior retraction due to its shape.

  • Patent number: 8073866
Abstract: A method of providing content from an internet server to an internet user based on the user's internet navigation history. The method begins with the step of installing a profile decoder, including a profile library, on the server. The profile decoder maps server content to content categories contained in the profile library. The server then receives a communication from a user then in internet communication with the server, at least a portion of that communication including an encrypted summary of user navigation history. The server then processes the user communication in the profile decoder to identify user content preferences by matching user content preferences with available server content, employing the profile server. Finally, the server provides content to the user based on the user's identified preferences.
