  • Patent number: 6081197
Abstract: A method of monitoring the condition of the battery of a smoke or heat alarm so as to provide a warning of an impending low battery condition, said method including: means of providing a low battery alarm to warn of a low battery condition, the said condition being that of a battery which has depleted to an energy level at and below which it is recommended that the battery be replaced to maintain the full functionality of the alarm device; means of providing an additional low battery pre-alarm to warn of an impending low battery condition, the said low battery pre-alarm being provided when the smoke or heat alarm battery has depleted to an energy level which is slightly higher than, but close to, the energy level that would generate the low battery alarm, and means of bypassing or silencing the low battery pre-alarm, in the event of an impending low battery condition, should a new battery not be available to immediately replace the depleted smoke or heat alarm battery, with the result that the occupants of th

  • Patent number: 5974721
Abstract: An improved lighted fishing float is illustrated using a two colored high intensity light source which may be composed of either one duo colored high intensity light emitting diode or two separate colored high intensity light emitting diodes. The entire upper section of the casing is illuminated making it easier to be seen from greater distances than any other lighted fishing float on the market. The color of the light switches in response to a fish contacting a hook attached to the fishing float. The upper portion of the casing may have a magnifying lens to intensify the light beam.

  • Patent number: 5898372
Abstract: An illuminated fishing float with high intensity multi colored high intensity light emitting diodes signals fish activity beneath the float. When the float is activated a single color of light is emitted. When fish activity occurs beneath the float a flashing light is displayed. When a fish takes the bait the flashing light and the single color steady light are extinguished and a steady light of another color is displayed. The float is hollow and is composed of two sections which screw together.

  • Patent number: 5761845
Abstract: A fish hook lure and leader carrier is formed from plastic. It has a basic configuration having a tubular structure with two caps, one on each end. The interior of the tubular structure houses the hooks and/or lures in the interior cavities. The leader extends through slots in the interior cavity and wraps around the outside of the tubular structure. When the two caps are snapped onto the ends the leader is held firmly in place. The interior cavity may contain a septum separating it into two cavities. These cavities may have end walls that occlude half the opening at each end of the tubular structure. The end walls are not opposite providing access to the two cavities.

  • Patent number: 5729936
Abstract: Prefabricated panels are formed by compressing a fiber slurry which may be composed of waste fiber products such as waste paper, cardboard, straw, leaves and grass clippings. The slurry, which may contain waterproofing, fire retardants, anti fungal agents and insecticides, is poured into a press form which contains the framework of a roof panel, wall panel, ceiling panel or floor panel as well as electrical wiring, heating ducts, plumbing or any other desired component. The fiber slurry is compressed to at least 1/4 of its original volume forming a solid dense inner core. This inner core can be covered with wall board, wall board paper, stucco, plaster, cement or stone. A method for locking the panels together is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5601277
Abstract: The need for a simple lifting and leveling system for two wheeled vehicles is met by a jacking system and an adjustable stand. The jacking system is comprised of a base with a rotational member extending through two openings in the parallel sides of the base. A lever handle is attached to the rotational member. A lifting member with a resilient low friction surface is rigidly attached to the rotational member by supporting members. When the lever handle is pushed towards the surface upon which the vehicle rests the lifting member contacts the frame of the vehicle lifting the vehicle to a position of maximum height. The rotational member continues rotating past the zenith of rotation pressing the lever handle to the surface from which the motorcycle is being lifted stabilizing the vehicle. Optional locking mechanisms are incorporated into the jacking system to further insure that the rotational member is prevented from rotating after the vehicle has been lifted.

  • Patent number: 5372169
Abstract: A water resistant cover in the form of a sack for wheeled vehicles is described. The cover accommodates wheeled vehicles such as bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, or the like. The sack packs into itself by means of a sleeve opening attached to the cover and therefore does not require a separate pouch for storage. This sleeve can be snugly closed around a lock to prevent moisture from entering into the interior of the sack while it covers the vehicle. A cable is attached to the interior of the sack which may be pulled through the sleeve opening to provide a means of locking the packed cover to the vehicle. This cable also provides a means of securing the cover to the vehicle while it is covering the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5357792
Abstract: An adaptor is provided for use in a fuel line. The adaptor has an attachment means for securing a flexible hose or tubing with a standard fuel pressure gauge to the fuel line for measuring the pressure in the fuel line. The adaptor allows the fuel pressure to be measured while an automobile is being tested on a machine, such as a dynamometer, or on the open road. The adaptor can be substituted into the fuel line in place of the fuel filter, that is normally present in the fuel line to filter the fuel before it reaches a fuel injector.

  • Patent number: 5314220
Abstract: A tool for lifting hot or unaccessible lids or covers with handles is described. The apparatus consists of a handle with a hook that pivots and a stabilizing member. The hook attached to the pivot also can have a stabilizing member attached thereto. The hook and stabilizing member provide a snug contact with the lid when lifting the lid vertically without deviation from the horizontal plane. A hook proximal or attached to the stabilizing member can engage the handle of the lid while the stabilizing member attached to the pivotal member snugly contacts the lid providing a method of lifting the lid so that it deviates from the horizontal plane without loosing stability.

  • Patent number: 5134238
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a class of chiral copper-amine complexes of the formula R(L*) CuLi in which L* is selected from: ##STR1## In this formula, R is a transferable ligand, which can be alkyl, aryl or aralkyl. M is a metal ion such as Li, Na, K, Cs, Rb, Be, Mg and other metal ions from the first two columns of the periodic table. R.sub.1 is straight chain alkyl, R.sub.2 is aryl or substituted aryl and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 form a heterocyclic ring or a substituted heterocyclic ring with 4 to 8 members including oxygen and sulfur.Such complexes react with .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated ketones, aldehydes, esters and other carbonyl containing compounds such that R is transferred to the 3 position enantioselectively as shown below. ##STR2## Such complexes react with .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated ketones in the presence of trialkysilyl halides to give silyl enol ether in which R is substituted in the 3 position as shown below.
