  • Patent number: 6147306
Abstract: A device for securely positioning an electrical junction box in a wall cavity of a building structure, the device having a first portion including; a supporting flange, a riser and a three sided box, stamped or molded as a single member, wherein the supporting flange can be secured to any structural member of the wall to position the electrical junction box in any pre-determined location, the box having a depth equal to the width of the inside of the wall cavity and adapted to receive electrical cables for coupling or connection to an electrical device. A second portion of the device is a face plate for forming the front covering of the electrical box, and adapted to be joined to an electrical device and/or cover plate, the face plate having two extended sides. The extended sides of the face plate when positioned in alignment with the three sided box of the first portion it closes the electrical junction box. The face plate is also adapted to have an electrical device or a cover plate secured thereto.

  • Patent number: 5483974
Abstract: A mechanical device for applying a constant pressure/force to the cricoid cartilage during endotracheal intubation or other medical airway operations/procedures. The device has a contact surface that is disposed directly against the neck, above the cricoid cartilage of the patient, and held in place by an adjustable strap that passes behind the patient's neck and is secured to the protruding or cantilevered ends of the device. The device and strap are used to create pressure/force only on the back and front of patient's neck. The contact surface is held in place and transfers the force to a compressible bladder contained in the device. The strap can be adjusted until proper cricoid pressure is achieved for the intubation and then held in place to maintain the pressure until the procedure is concluded. The safety valve prevents excessive force application.

  • Patent number: 5419508
Abstract: A storage reel for evenly winding and unwinding heavy electrical feeder cable is mounted on the side of a mining vehicle. The storage reel is mounted so as to be stationary on the vehicle. The orbital carriage revolves around the reel evenly winding or unwinding the cable. The reel is shaped in an elongated oblong to maximize the cable storage for use on restricted low profile mining equipment. The device is suited for use on vehicles in mining operations and does not require the use of split rings, rotating collector rings, brushes, or the like for electrical connection, but permits power to pass through the cable from the power source to the vehicle without intervening electrical connectors.

  • Patent number: 5058492
Abstract: A device which permits rapid conversion of an air diffuser in an evaporative air conditioning system during periods of use, to an insulative dampening member during periods of non-use. The device attaches to the opening of outlet air duct of the cooling system and is adapted to receive and secure alternately an air diffuser during periods of cooling, and an insulative dampening block during periods of non-use.

  • Patent number: 4360014
Abstract: The present inventions relates to a garment for comfortably and securely confining a patient in a bed, chair or other supporting structure. The garment is a loose fitting gown disposed on the upper body that permits patient mobility on the supporting structure yet prevents escape by accident or otherwise. The garment is particularly suited for use on elderly hospital patients, invalids and the like, but may be used on other patients to be restrained. The garment can not be removed by the patient and has a waist and crotch restraining members which can be employed alternately and/or simultaneously for confining a patient to a bed, a chair, or other supporting structure.

  • Patent number: 4305369
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for controlling the vehicles fuel-air mixture by regulating the air in the ventilation passage leading to the engine air intake from the crankcase. In a vehicle provided with a PCV valve, the device is located in the ventilation passage leading from the crankcase to the engine air intake and the device is downstream of the PCV valve. The device admits outside air to the ventilation passage to lean the gas mixture when the engine creates a vacuum less than 8 PSI in the ventilation passage.

  • Patent number: 4300533
Abstract: The present invention relates to automatic thermal/hydraulic logic system for continuously positioning a heliostat in alignment with the sun in both the horizontal and vertical planes. Solar radiation is monitored by phials which produce signal pressures of a magnitude that varies with phial exposure to the rays of the sun. The produced signal pressures are directed to thermally controlled valves which are compared with mechanically controlled valves of similar design feature. These control valves are centered so long as hydraulic fluid pressure signals on each end of a control valve are equal, but the valve spool is displaced to the left or to the right if and when a pressure differential is created, (improper alignment). When a specific differential sets in, a mechanical action takes place which moves the heliostat to its proper concentrating position. Movement ceases when the differential disappears (proper alignment).

  • Patent number: 4299442
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for use on airplanes to permit visual identification and location by pilots of other aircraft in the vicinity so as to avoid mid-air collision. The device receives light from any light source and reflects it to all points within at least a defined hemispherical area normal to the device, so as to make the plane visually observable by pilots, any other aircraft in the area. The device is formed as a tape and attached to various parts of an aircraft. The reflecting elements redirect and intensify each light source creating a readily recognizable shimmering image.

  • Patent number: 4045897
Abstract: The present invention is a new structure for a cohesive display board. The surface of the display board is treated with flocking, powdered rayon, as is the back of the item to be displayed. Contact of the flocking, on the display item and display board, will cause the display item to adhere to the display board. The cohesive force is created by the interlocking or meshing of the contiguous fiberous rayon flocking.
