  • Patent number: 7478973
Abstract: A leveling system for freshly poured concrete is provided comprising a hand screed and a hand float. The system includes a laser beam leveling system consisting of a laser transmitter mounted on the hand screed and a laser beam receiver target mounted on the hand float. The hand screed further includes an inclinometer mounted on top of the hand screed for maintaining the angle of the screed when the screed is used on sloped surfaces. Bubble levelers positioned on top of the hand screed and the hand float are used to maintain the hand screed and the hand float in a level position.

  • Patent number: 7470084
Abstract: An ergonomically-shaped hand screed for levelling and finishing concrete is provided. The screed has a finger relief groove on its rear face and a thumb relief groove on its front face. Both the finger and thumb grooves are positioned nearer the top surface of the screed to form an ergonomically comfortable handgrip. A concrete relief groove is located on the front face near the bottom surface to form a scraper edge. A ridge separates the thumb relief groove and the concrete groove. When the screed is used, the scraper edge and concrete relief groove draw up the concrete overburden from a concrete surface and deflect it away from the operator's hands.

  • Patent number: 7462157
Abstract: A vaginal probe includes a metal detection sensor for detecting the presence of ferrous-laden endometriotic tissues. The probe is electrically connected to external electronic circuitry for interpreting the readings taken by the sensor and for providing a qualitative or quantitative measurement of the amount of endometriotic tissues present. The probe is inserted in either the vagina or peritoneal cavity of a patient to detect the location and the relative amounts of iron or ferrous-laden tissues in the pelvic area of the patient. Using the probe and monitoring the readings over time as part of pelvic exams assists in determining the early onset or progression of endometriosis and/or the response to one or more therapies being provided to the patient to treat the disease.

  • Patent number: 7458809
Abstract: A portable kiln has a set of wheels, a handle and a platform base. The wheels and the handle are attached on a first side of the kiln so that the kiln can be tilted and rolled on the wheels using the handle. The platform base provides a spaced distance between the wheels and the floor when the kiln is sitting upright in an operational position. The kiln may also include a metal outer shell wrapped about an oven portion. The outer shell has a shell sidewall radially spaced from the oven portion sidewall, which forms an annular air channel between the outer shell sidewall and the oven portion. The outer shell has a C-shaped cross-section and it has upper and lower vent openings for the air channel. A hinge assembly allows a lid of the kiln to rest in an open position.

  • Patent number: 7380287
Abstract: A long sleeved garment has a sleeve that is fitted with a watch cuff which accommodates a wristwatch so that the face of the watch will be readily visible and accessible through a viewing window at all times, and not obscured by the cuff, while preserving the tailored appearance of the garment. In a barrel cuff embodiment, a cutout opening intersects the distal edge of a cuff and extends inwardly along a curved cut line, thereby defining the interior boundary of an open viewing window. In a French cuff embodiment, an outer cuff fold layer is intersected by a cutout opening that forms a window through which a wristwatch can be viewed.

  • Patent number: 7351926
Abstract: A housing for a pressure switch is coupled to a pipeline. The housing has a tubular body with an explosion-proof enclosure attached to the body with a retainer sleeve inserted through an opening in the enclosure and threaded into the body to secure the enclosure to the body in an axial direction. The body of the housing may be coupled to the pipeline via an interstitial trim device. The body and trim are preferably coupled together using left-hand threads. The enclosure is further secured to the body by a pin that extends from the enclosure into a corresponding pin receptacle in the body. The pin opposes rotation of the enclosure with respect to the body and prevents attempts by field personnel to remove the pressure switch from a pipeline by simply turning the enclosure. This arrangement also avoids disruption of the calibration of micro-switch components contained within the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7309973
Abstract: An AC power controller system applies three-phase AC operating power to an induction motor that drives a non-linear mechanical load. A primary low pass filter is connected in series between branch phase conductors and a power controller of the type that uses gate-controlled switching thyristors for controlling power to the motor. KVAR capacitors connected between the power controller and the induction motor phase windings form a secondary low pass filter across the controller output terminals. The primary and secondary low pass filters isolate the power controller and induction motor with respect to spurious noise and harmonics generated by local as well as remote sources, and also improve real power transfer efficiency from the power generating source to the induction motor by transforming the effective impedance of the power source and the induction motor load.
