  • Patent number: 6652945
Abstract: This disclosure relates to the manufacture of lites (glass sheets) which have at least a pair of thin spacers applied thereto which maintain the lites in spaced relationship when stacked upon pallets, wrapped and shipped. The spacers are preferably only partially adhered to the lites, either by weak bonding adhesive or electrostatically, and can be readily removed during end-use applications. The spacers are applied automatically during production runs of the lites, and the spacers are applied from above or from below relative to the path of travel of the lites.

  • Patent number: 6650975
Abstract: The invention is a multifunctional, mobile appliance capable of performing a variety of tasks safely, quietly, without pollution, and out of sight of its owner. Such tasks might include lawn mowing, fertilizing, and edging, floor vacuuming, waxing, and polishing, or rug shampooing. In its preferred implementation, the mobile unit 1 would obtain precise real time and position information using the Real Time Kinematic Global Positioning System. The user initially guides the appliance around the work-area perimeters. The device then uses this information to determine the full working area. Proximity detectors and impact sensors help the appliance avoid unexpected obstacles. The device is quiet enough to perform its task in the middle of the night while its owner is asleep, but can be programmed to work continuously or during any user-specified time interval. The small turning radius of the appliance allows it to follow intricate perimeters.

  • Patent number: 6634613
Abstract: The invention is directed to a product carrier, pallet or skid formed of substantially homogeneous molded polymeric/copolymeric synthetic plastic material of a one-piece construction. The carrier includes an upper surface above which projects one or more elongated shock-absorbing fins, ribs or equivalent structure for absorbing impact-forces through deformation upon the carrier and a relatively heavy product carried thereby being dropped or mishandled. One or more fasteners snugly secure the product against the shock-absorbing fins of the carrier and are also in freely sliding relationship thereto to accommodate product movement relative to the carrier upon deformation of the shock-absorbing fins/structure.

  • Patent number: 6579306
Abstract: The inventive expansion catheter has a catheter tube (11) and a perfusion tube (12) which can be moved inside the catheter tube (11). The perfusion tube (12) is connected to a stent (13) formed of a wire-type material. The stent (13) is constricted by the catheter tube (11). When, the catheter tube (11) is withdrawn, the stent (13) expands, hereby taking up two expansion areas, (16, 18) which border an area (26) to be protected from the pressure of the blood. A bypass (28) can be fixed in this area (26) by means of an anastomosis (27). The perfusion tube (26) ensures that the blood vessel (21) is supplied behind the obturation point so that the operation can be carried out as non-invasively as possible while the heart is beating.

  • Patent number: 6579241
Abstract: In a dialysis apparatus the blood pressure is normally monitored at intervals of 5 minutes. According to the invention the current blood pressure curve (33) is measured only during the first 45 minutes at intervals of 5 minutes and then compared with the stored blood pressure curves of previous treatments of the same patient. On the basis of statistical analyses that blood pressure curve is determined from a data storage, which shows the largest similarity to the current blood pressure curve and used as the basic curve (35) for blood pressure control during the current treatment. During further treatment the blood pressure measurement is carried out at intervals from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. This considerably reduces the number of blood pressure measurements and the resultant discomfort of the patient.
