  • Patent number: 5741102
Abstract: The new fastener has a shank which is resiliently compressible along an axis perpendicular to the shank push-in axis and has teeth protruding from the shank along the axis of resilient compressibility. The teeth are inclined in the push-in direction and in the pull-out direction. When the shank is pushed into an existing screw hole, then inclines of teeth just past the far side of the screw hole are increased to resist motion in the pull-out direction so that the shank is secured in the screw hole and so that the fastener can be pulled-out without damage. The shank can be integrally part of a first structure being fastened to a second structure.

  • Patent number: 5690309
Abstract: The book holder has a work surface with a shelf and straps so that a book and similar materials can be securely held on the work surface. The work surface has an adjustable leg and has a supportable surface which has an inflected curvature with positive curvature portions so that the work surface can be supported on the person using the book holder in positions ranging from the person's thigh to the person's upper body and so that, while supported in any of these positions, the work surface can be oriented about three orthogonal axes to suit the needs of the person and the work. The work surface has weighted ligaments which hold down pages of the book so that the pages can be turned with a mouth stick or commercial page turner.

  • Patent number: 5611125
Abstract: A container with a lid sealed thereon wholly encloses a space which can contain a casket. The container wall, the lid wall, and the seal bar flow of matter into the space containing the casket. The container wall and the lid wall both also wholly enclose chambers which am filled with concrete. There is a fenestrated spacer attached between the walls of both the concrete filled container chamber and the concrete filled lid chamber with the concrete passing through the fenestrated spacer to link the concrete filling the container chamber to the container and to link the concrete filling the lid chamber to the lid to give the container and the lid the strength of concrete.

  • Patent number: 5551116
Abstract: A ramp rotatably attached to a base attached to a vehicle windshield has an inactive state in which a wear block attached to the arm which carries the wiper over the windshield passes over the ramp without touching the ramp. The ramp also has an active state in which the wear block rides up the ramp whereby the wiper is lifted off of the windshield so that the arm then returns the wiper to the windshield with a jolt causing debris to leave the wiper. A remotely locatable electromagnetic solenoid actuates the ramp into the active state and frees the ramp to be returned to the inactive state by a return spring. The solenoid is controllable from within the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5535808
Abstract: A sun shade made of a deformable sheet with a deformable air-tight bladder attached along the periphery of the sheet. The sheet has a generally trapezoidal periphery matching the size of vehicle windows. The sheet has a slit along its centerline through which the vehicle rear view mirror is disposed whereupon the slit is closed by slit fasteners to just accommodate the mirror support. When the bladder is inflated by an air pump attached by an air hose to a nozzle sealed into the bladder and a valve on the nozzle is closed, then the sun shade is extended to cover the vehicle window and protect the inside of the vehicle from unwanted light and heat. When the valve on the nozzle is opened and the air pressure is released, then the sun shade is collapsed into a small stow. The extended sun shade is bendable and thus is adaptable to many size windows. The sun shade also has eyelets arrayed along the periphery so that it can be mounted in many ways with common mounting devices.

  • Patent number: 5535962
Abstract: The new doubling coupler is a generally cylindrical sleeve which connects two standard, spring-action cores for standard, toilet tissue paper roll holders to form a double-length core which can be held between two standard, toilet roll holder mounting brackets, which have been relocated to accommodate the double length core, in order to hold a toiler roll in position for use and also hold a spare roll also in position for use. There is a buffer attached to the sleeve to prevent rotary motion of the roll in use from being coupled directly to the spare roll.

  • Patent number: 5522514
Abstract: Any number of generally identical shelves can be formed from any pair of generally identical semicircular shelf halves by removably attaching the shelf halves along the straight edge which subtends the semicircle. Each shelf half has an aperture in the straight edge concentric with the semicircle so that the shelf halves can be removably attached while encircling an umbrella table pole. A higher shelf is supported above a lower shelf by a triplet of generally identical struts removably attached to the top side of a lower shelf and removably attached to the bottom side of a higher shelf in tripod formation. A triplet of generally identical arm struts can be removably attached to the top side of the highest shelf in tripod formation so that accessories such as lights or flowers can be hung from the arm strut horizontal arm which projects away from the pole.

  • Patent number: 5490348
Abstract: A bobber is constructed of a float and a stem. The cross section of the stem is just less than the cross section of a bore in the float. The stem has a slot in the stem body along the center line of the stem. The stem also has a channel in the body of the stem which extends radially into the stem body to just beyond the stem center line and which extends vertically from the stem slot bottom to the stem in-water end. A fishing line can be removably placed into the stem slot so that the fishing line hook end hangs vertically in the stem channel. The stem also has a bulge in the stem body so that the stem can be removably wedged into the float bore with the stem slot mouth in the float bore and the stem slot bottom below the keel end of the float. Thus the fishing line is attached to the bobber but is free to slip. When the bobber is in water the center lines of the float, the float bore, and the stem all coincide.
