  • Patent number: 5772007
Abstract: A lock-out device for electrical circuits which includes an elongated, open sided C-shaped housing having parallel side walls each joined at an edge to a back panel. Each side wall defines a plurality of spaced, open slots. The slots in the side walls are paired in transverse alignment, and dimensioned to receive elongated locking pins. Each locking pin carries spaced annular grooves dimensioned to permit each pin to be engaged by the two side walls when the pin is placed in two aligned slots in a slot pair. A cover plate hinged to the side walls at one end of the housing pivots between an open position and a housing closed position in which it prevents removal of the locking pins from slot pairs in which they are received. The housing may be held in place to a surface adjacent the electrical circuits by a retainer clip which engages the circuit breaker panel and is crimpingly engaged with at least one of the side walls of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5729474
Abstract: To anticipate potential failure of a temperature modification device (e.g., heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment used in a commercial building), an efficiency value representing the ability of the temperature modification device to change temperature in a predetermined zone is repeatedly computed. When one of these values is computed, it is used in determining whether the ability of the temperature modification device to change temperature in the predetermined zone has deteriorated over time. This is done by comparing a current efficiency value with a previous efficiency value. In response to a determined deterioration exceeding a predetermined tolerance, a control signal for initiating inspection of the temperature modification device is communicated, thereby enabling the device to be serviced in response to a detected operating condition of the device and before actual failure of the device.

  • Patent number: 5678307
Abstract: An inverting, rupturable, pressure relieving apparatus includes a structure having a wall for containing pressurized fluid and an asymmetrical indentation in the wall. The indentation has a base connecting the indentation to the wall, a protuberant side for contacting the pressurized fluid, a recessed side opposite the protuberant side, and an axis about perpendicular to the base and extending through the center of the indentation at the base. The asymmetry of the indentation creates an inversion initiation face in the indentation having a smaller angle with the base and less resistance to inversion than the remainder of the indentation.

  • Patent number: 5676276
Abstract: A buffet table food pan having a pair of side walls and a pair of end walls extending upwardly from a bottom panel. A top flange extends outwardly from the walls. The flange is in sealing engagement with the buffet table when it is placed therein. The flange has a notch defined at each end, so that a space is defined between the flange and the table. The space defines a ledge which can be grabbed, or under which utensils can be placed for the purpose of lifting the pan or removing the pan from the table.

  • Patent number: 5671855
Abstract: A high strength industrial storage tank is provided. The tank includes a pair of opposed sidewalls, a pair of opposed end walls, each end wall interconnecting the sidewalls, and a floor connected to the sidewalls and the end walls. Each of the sidewalls and end walls includes a series of alternating vertically extending outer members and vertically extending grooves. Each groove extends toward the interior of the tank and includes a bottom and two sides. Each groove further includes an inner arcuate portion that is arched toward the interior of the tank and has a substantially constant radius of from about 3.0 to about 4.5 inches. The structure of the sidewalls makes it relatively easy to clean the tank and apply and maintain paint and other protective coatings on the surfaces of the tank. The tank can optionally include structure that makes it suitable for storing liquids and other fluids and/or structure that makes it compatible with roll-off transport trucks.

  • Patent number: 5640153
Abstract: Control data to change any of various parameters in energy management systems that control energy consumption devices, such as heating and air conditioning equipment, is transmitted from a remote location, through a paging network, to a plurality of paging data receivers connected to respective energy management systems. The paging data receivers respond to a common call and pass the accompanying control data to their respective energy management systems, which individually react depending on whether one or more predetermined addresses is/are within the control data. A response to the remote site can be provided by an energy management system through the commercial telephone network.

  • Patent number: 5637218
Abstract: The inflow control means comprise either a contact buffer or a buffer reservoir and pump means or both in combination with the inlet of a soil-based filter bed like a root space installation. The contact buffer is in direct flow communicating contact with an upper section of the filter bed on the infiltration side and dimensioned in adaptation to the throughput capacity of the soil-based filter bed such that variations in the waste water inflow are evened out. The same effect is achieved by the buffer reservoir and pump means wherein the pump delivers waste water from the buffer reservoir to the inlet and excess waste water is returned from the inlet to the buffer reservoir through a return line having a receiving end at a level which is preferably adjustable relative to the top surface of the filter bed.

  • Patent number: 5613726
Abstract: An extruded, one-piece metal slat unit for attachment to a frame member of a trailer. The slat unit includes an elongated body portion having at least one leg member connected to and longitudinally extending along the interior surface of the body portion between the ends thereof. The leg member includes a foot portion suitable for welding to the frame member. The foot portion is spaced from the interior surface of the body portion such that an open space is provided therebetween. The open space dissipates heat generated during the welding process thereby preventing nonaesthetic weld and heat track marks from appearing on the exterior surface of the slat unit and hence the trailer. A livestock trailer including the slat unit is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5611436
Abstract: Apparatus for handing and testing PC cards and, more particularly, modem cartridge units. The apparatus uses a gravity drop conveyance or slideway in combination with transverse test coupling unit. Feed gate apparatus separates and singly drops each PC card for drop down the chassis slideway and into a test position beneath a test box. The test box is then actuated transversely to connect test plugs to each side of the PC card which then undergoes a predetermined test sequence. Test PC cards are then further dropped along to slideway to separation and classification stages.
