Abstract: A method for the co-processing of bare die removal from a semiconductor wafer for the improved throughput of the extraction of die from a wafer for subsequent placement onto a substrate. The apparatus includes a pick head containing a nozzle having a suction port within that secures the bare die as it is removed from the wafer. The intermediate holding station has a plurality of nozzles, each having a vacuum port to secure and buffer a multitude of flipped die that are transferred from the pick nozzle. Vacuum flow valves enable the release and transfer of the bare die. Having a multiple of nozzles provides a buffer for the die as they are subsequently transitioned from the pick nozzle, queued within the intermediate transfer station and loaded in tandem onto a die shuttle.

The system is preferably closed-ended, and employs a rule-based syntax with conditional data interaction. In a preferred embodiment, the system includes GUI-based design and programming tools that enable the set up of host and/or visitor machines in accordance with the protocol.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for cutting the cover tape on a component carrier tape in order to allow component retrieval by an automated assembly system. More specifically, the cover tape is cut using a radiant energy beam that vaporizes the cover tape layer so as to partially expose the component below. The cover tape flap(s) created by the cutting operation may then be folded back so as to expose the component for retrieval at the pick-up location. Subsequent to the pick-up location, the carrier tape with the parted cover tape flap(s) attached thereto, are directed to a waste receptacle or similar disposal mechanism.
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for supplying components, via a carrier tape having a cover tape thereon and a plurality of pockets retaining components therein, for retrieval by an automated insertion machine, including a carrier tape reel support, a tape feed path with a peel edge, about which to peel the cover tape from the carrier tape prior to the component being presented for retrieval at the pick location, and a cover tape path preferably having a V-bar and O-ring drive system for directing the travel of the cover tape in a rearward and downward direction to facilitate disposal beneath the tape feeder. Such a system provides a cover tape disposal path that enables the use of spliceable carrier tapes on such feeders.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for controlling a mold flow process using inner (impinge) and/or edge temperature sensors, wherein articles processed in a constraining mold cavity, having a constant melt “shrink” quality, can be obtained even with fluctuations in resin “melt” properties (flowability). At least one temperature-dependent output or “trigger” signal is sampled, and the level of the signal (e.g., temperature) initiates at least one step in the molding cycle. Using a sampling circuit, thermal waveforms are obtained from thermal sensor array data such that if a sequence of melt temperature set-point trigger times fluctuates outside control limits, then the process melt-flow is judged as a hotter/faster melt-flow or cooler/slower melt-flow injection process.
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for carrying gum and mints in separate compartments thereof. The gum and mint caddy is preferably constructed with a plurality of compartments, one or more of which are separable from the other so as to allow a user to carry gum, mints or both gum and mints. The caddy includes locking, resealable lids, and an adjustable inner lid and alignment mechanism to allow the gum compartment to be used with a plurality of gum package sizes (e.g., different stick quantities).
Abstract: The present invention is a tape feeding device with splicing capabilities for reliably conveying parts to a pickup location for attachment to a substrate using a pick and place machine, including an extensible carrier tape reel support, a system for sensing the fill state of a carrier tape take-up reel, and a split hub take-up reel design to facilitate the removal of carrier tape therefrom.
Abstract: A combination shovel and lawn rake and, includes a hollow rake handle with a rake head pivotally mounted on its lower end with a multi-point linkage for movement between a rake position and a raised position. A rake control knob near the handle is effective to move the rake head between a rake position and a raised position. A shovel is pivotally connected to the rake handle for movement between a shovel position and a storage position, where spring clips secure the shovel handle to the rake handle in both positions and a release mechanism aids in the release of the shovel from the clips so as to allow a change in its position.
Abstract: The present invention is a collapsible two-wheeled vehicle, wherein the vehicle comprises a down tube and a horizontal stay that are pivotably connected to one another at midsections thereof as well as being slidably connected to steering and seat assemblies, respectively. The slightly canted arrangement of the various members and assemblies provides a rigid structure to support an operator during use yet allows the vehicle to be collapsed to a compact size for storage and shipping. The vehicle may be folded or collapsed in the form of an “X”, bringing the wheels into a side-by-side position, to reduce its overall size without compromising its structural rigidity when reopened.
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for achieving high work output per unit volume in micro-robotic actuators, and in particular TiNi actuators. Such actuators are attractive as a means of powering nano-robotic movement, and are being developed for manipulation of structures at near the molecular scale. In these very small devices (one micron scale), one means of delivery of energy is by electron beams. Movement of mechanical structures a few microns in extent has been demonstrated in a scanning electron microscope. Results of these and subsequent experiments will be described, with a description of potential structures for fabricating moving a microscopic x-y stage.
