Abstract: A catheter device used in the catherization of a blood vessel during hemodialysis which comprises a hub assembly having at least a first and second fluid conduit each of which are connected in fluid communication with separate concentrically disposed tube elements so as to define a first and second fluid flow path. The concentrically arranged tube elements provide for a single puncture into the predetermined blood vessel wherein the first and second fluid conduits are interconnected to a continuous negative and positive source of fluid flow so that blood will be continuously drawn from and supplied to the predetermined blood vessel by means of the outer and inner tube elements respectively.

Abstract: A safety cage for holding a pneumatic tire during inflation is provided in which a framework is formed having a base and a center post protruding therefrom for the placement of a pneumatic tire for inflation of the tire. Side frame members extend from the base member and have top frame members attached thereto which swing over onto the center post where a locking pin locks the top frame members together and to the center post for holding the pneumatic tire mounted on a wheel within the safety cage to prevent injury to a worker during the inflation operation.

Abstract: A portable, foldable, and heatable cushion and raincoat apparatus has foldable carrying case with cushioning means attached thereinside and a raincoat having a portion attached thereinside so that it may be folded into a carrying case. The carrying case has a zippered enclosure and a handle for ease in carrying to spectator and sporting events to use as a cushion, and in inclement weather, to use as a raincoat or to keep warm. A heating element is attached inside the case to keep the user warm.

Abstract: A processor for photographic plates or like elements comprising a housing through which the plates being processed travel and further including a plurality of work stations at least comprising a developer station, a scrubbing station and a wash-off station. The scrubber station comprises a rotatably mounted brush or like scrub element disposed in engaging relation to plates passing along the path of travel defined in the housing. A flexible backup element preferably in the form of a continuous flexible belt is disposed on the opposite side of the path of travel relative to the rotating brush wherein plates being processed, when passing between the brush and the backup element will undergo a scrubbing action on the surface exposed to the brush while receiving sufficient support from the backup element to allow the scrubbing action to take place.

Abstract: An apparatus for raising and lowering invalids in a bath tub chair having a frame that fits into the bathtub with a chair rockably mounted to the frame. The frame has vertically extending gear racks while the rocking chair has a ratcheting gear attached thereto so that the rocking of the chair can be used to raise or lower the chair by its occupant.

Abstract: A valve positioning tool for supporting valves in proximity to valve seats within a cylinder head and piston sleeve assembly for an overhead valve, internal combustion engine. The valve positioning tool has a frame with pivotally attached, biased clamping devices for engaging the flange of the cylinder assembly, to restrain the movement thereof. The valve positioning tool also includes a positioning device for communicating with and locating the valves within the cylinder assembly. An extending device is attached to the frame and to the positioning device for axially extending the positioning device within the cylinder assembly. The detachable surfaces of the positioning device are adapted to deform when in contact with the valves and the internal surfaces of the cylinder assembly.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for storing, handling and orienting a plurality of containers of the type having a narrow neck portion with respect to another portion of the container, in which the axis of each container extends axially through the neck, includes means, such as standard "unscramblers", for receiving and storing the containers in a randomly distributed fashion and thereafter conveying the containers with the axes of all of the containers oriented parallel with respect to each other. A cam race guide rail arrangement on opposite sides of the conveyor engage and orients the containers such that all of the axes of the containers are parallel with respect to each other in a plane substantially normal to the plane of the conveyor, and with all of the necks of the containers extending in the same direction.

Abstract: A hand-held and hand-operated tensioning device of the type primarily intended for use in stretching fence wire is disclosed. The device basically comprises a stationary hook suitable for engaging an attachment point, such as an eye placed on a fence post, and a movable hook to which the material being stretched can be attached. A trigger-operated mechanism is provided to advance the movable hook in the direction of the stationary hook, thereby tensioning and stretching material, such as fence wire, attached to the movable hook. The device is also useful as a clamp.

Abstract: An apparatus for programming a hand-held programmable electronic calculator of the type having depressible key inputs. The apparatus includes a program tape having a plurality of apertures therein forming a matrix defined by a plurality of rows and columns. Command pins are inserted within selected ones of the apertures for representing programming commands. A frame is included for receiving the calculator and for providing registration between the aperture matrix of the program tape and the depressible keys of the calculator. A plurality of levers are coupled to the frame for being actuated by the command pins to depress the calculator keys. A rotatable cam is included for engaging the command pin in each row of the program tape, and sequentially moving the command pins and the program tape through communication with the levers, thereby sequentially actuating the depressible keys for programming the calculator.

Abstract: A process for forming an art product and a package assembly for containing the art product. The art product having an arbitrary arranged pattern of inks or pigmented materials thereon and including one or more intermixed colors wherein the ink or pigmented material is capable of being responsive to an electrostatic charge. The process includes forming ionic patterns on at least one surface of a plate capable of bearing an electrostatic charge and applying one or more of the electroresponsive inks to the formed ionic pattern. The ink can be transferred to the pattern from a brush or like source disposed either in spaced relation to the surface of the charge plate or in direct contact therewith. The package assembly also includes structure capable of supporting and exposing the charge plate during application of the process as well as containing the materials for performing the process and the art product itself.

Abstract: An apparatus having a plurality of movably attached panels which define an enclosed cavity therein for catching and restraining crustaceans. One of the panels has an aperture therethrough for allowing the entry of the crustaceans into the cavity. The cavity also contains a device for storing bait and a device for restraining the crustaceans within the cavity after they have eaten the bait and buoyantly floated to the upper portion of the cavity. The plurality of panels and the restraining device are attached by a plurality of hinges for allowing the panels and the restraining device to fold into the cavity, thereby collapsing the trap and allowing for more compact storage.

Abstract: A work stop for use with work holding means of the type defining a corridor therealong includes a bar fixed at one end to a work-holding means and a stop arm rotatably fixed to the other end of the bar, such that the stop arm extends into the corridor and bears against a work piece held by the work-holding means.

Abstract: A support stand assembly primarily designed for the adjustable support and positioning of work articles such as macrame, woven rugs, tapestry or the like, while such work is being formed by an operator. A base has a primary support element connected thereto and extending upwardly in an elongated manner so as to maintain and adjustably position the work being formed at various heights along its length. A retaining cable and pulley assembly are cooperatively attached to one another and adjustably positioned on the head portion of the primary support element for regulating and selectively adjusting the position or height of the work relative to the height of the operator performing the work on the article.

Abstract: A water heater assembly of the type primarily designed for domestic and/or residential use and including a storage tank having fresh water inlet and water supply outlet disposed in fluid communication with the interior of the tank wherein the tank has mounted thereon a microwave generator disposed in wave directing relation to the water within the tank. Current regulating means is interconnected between a source of electric current supply and the microwave generator so as to control its activation. A sensing means in the form of a thermostat designed to control activation of the microwave generator upon the water and/or the tank reaching a predetermined temperature. A safety assembly is mounted on the tank and includes temperature sensing device disposed and constructed to either cease operation of the microwave generator or eliminate the water from the tank so as to reduce its temperature and prevent serious damage to the device or its surroundings.

Abstract: This invention relates to a delivery system designed to be used in combination with a selfpropelled mobile platform such as a truck or like vehicle wherein the system is designed to deliver newspapers or such articles to residences along a predetermined route. One or more conveyor assemblies are movably mounted on the supporting bed of the mobile platform wherein delivery assemblies, which may be of conventional design, are disposed in communicating relation with the conveyor such that the conveyors and respective delivery assemblies are activated so as to expel a paper to a predetermined residence or location upon activation of the delivery system drive assembly. A control device is interconnected to activate the drive assembly upon receiving precoded information or signals from logic circuitry interconnected to the driving assembly of the platform, whereby the distance travelled by the platform is automatically converted into command signals to operate the conveyor and delivery element associated therewith.

Abstract: A liquid purification system for treating liquids such as water or sewage effluent in which a sealed casing has a plurality of corrugated panels therein dividing the casing into a plurality of sections. Liquid which may already have been partially treated is sprayed against or caused to flow onto each side of each corrugated panel and against the side walls of the casing and allowed to run down the panels and casing walls in a thin layer. The casing is filled with ozone under pressure and may have ultraviolet tubes placed between each pair of panels so as to permeate and disinfect the liquid at the bottom of the casing is pumped through an output pipe and through a filter system and may have additional treatment.

Abstract: An exercise device including at least one and preferably two resistance elements specifically configured for attachment to a pair of spaced apart handle elements. The resistance elements are made from an elastic material so as to provide proper biasing force from the handle elements of the exercise device when they are separated a predetermined distance. Resistance connector structure is integrally formed in each of the handle elements and specifically disposed and configured to be attached to predetermined portions of the resistance elements. The resistance elements are connected together by an interconnecting member. Separation of the handle elements cause the resistance elements to exert a force on the handle elements and the interconnecting member.

Abstract: This invention relates to an electrical latching circuit, relatively impervious to noise pulses, for being used with a power source for supplying current through a circuit line to an electrical load and auxiliary circuits coupled thereto. The latching circuit includes a thermally activated variable resistance element interposed along the circuit line, a control device interposed along the circuit capable of allowing the current flow therethrough responsive to the resistance of the variable resistance element, exceeding a preselected value, and a circuit for varying the resistance of the variable resistance element whereby the current supplied to the electrical load through the current line is capable of latching on only by increasing the resistance of the variable resistance element.

Abstract: An adjustable balance and indicating device for removably attaching to a beam scale of the type having a balance beam with a distended end thereof movable in an oscillating plane and having further a support adjacent the balance beam. The adjustable balance and indicating device includes a bracket for removably mounting to the support adjacent the balance beam and a coupler having a first end coupled to the balance beam and a second end spaced therefrom. The balancing and indicating device also includes an indicator for illustrating the displacement of the second end of the coupler from a reference position representative of the balance beam being in a balancing condition. A deformable member is included for providing a biasing force on the second end of the coupler to displace the second end to the reference position, thereby balancing the balance beam of the balance beam scale.

Abstract: A semi-conductor voltage regulator includes a dual transistor differential amplifier pair adapted to so as not to be damaged by reverse voltages during the application of either polarity of alternating current to the associated sensing network. The sensing network includes resistors, the value of which are selected to provide an offset current during one polarity of alternating current with respect to the other polarity. A diode is coupled with the differential amplifier transistor pair in order to protect those devices and the load from high, suddenly-applied or transient voltages generated externally or by internal switching within the regulator.
