  • Patent number: 6394056
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has an inlet port side angle (B) which is greater than 60° and is preferably 101°±3°. The exhaust valve side angle (C) is preferably 93°±3°. The inlet valve seat (3) is located closer to the longitudinal axis (8) of the cylinder than the exhaust valve seat (4) and the imaginary line (16) which passes through the geometric centres of the valve seats (3, 4) is offset from the diameter (7) of the cylinder. This combination of characteristics gives an engine having a high specific power output, low specific fuel consumption, low emissions of carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbons and a cool exhaust gas containing a significant volume of oxygen.

  • Patent number: 6287391
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a permanent magnet by fabricating rapidly cooled alloy thin strip of amorphous composition which has good tenacity, simple working properties and an average thickness of 10 &mgr;m˜200 &mgr;m, from a molten alloy of a specific composition containing 6 at % or less of rare-earth element and 15 at %˜30 at % of boron, by means of specific rapid cooling conditions, and then subjecting this rapidly cooled alloy thin strip, after cutting or punching to a prescribed shape, to crystallization heat treatment such that the average crystal grain size thereof becomes 10 nm˜50 nm, and by layering together two or more of these thin permanent magnets and bonding and uniting the layered thin strips by means of an inorganic adhesive material or a resin, it is possible readily to provide a high-performance layered permanent magnet having a desired thickness and a prescribed shape, without using a method involving crushing and bonded magnet forming processes and without needing to car

  • Patent number: 6259450
Abstract: In a presently preferred embodiment of the invention, a three-dimensional scene is reproduced on a specialized light display which offers full multiviewpoint capability and autostereoscopic views. The displayed image is produced using a set of M two-dimensional images of the scene collected at a set of distinct spatial locations. These M two-dimensional images are processed through a specialized encoding scheme to obtain a set of N×K display-excitation electrical-input signals, where K is the number of pixels in the display, and N≦M is the number of individual light-radiating elements within one pixel. The display is thus comprised of a total of N×K light-radiating elements. Each of the elements is adapted for control of their associated radiance patterns. The display is connected for response to the set of N×K display-excitation electrical-input signals.

  • Patent number: 6194879
Abstract: Apparatus for adjusting the terminal voltage of a single phase alternator employs a current sensor for sensing the load current. The load current signal is compared with a set point for producing an accelerator signal as the load changes. A drive for the alternator is controlled by an accelerator responsive to the accelerator signal. When the system is in a no load condition, the accelerator signal reduces the speed of the drive. A circuit responsive to the terminal voltage drives an exciter circuit to maintain the terminal voltage at not less than 50% of a desired or rated voltage.
