Abstract: A method of concentrating a metalliferous ore containing also substantial quantities of pyrites and/or pyrrhotite and/or sphalerite and comprises subjecting an aqueous pulp of the ore to a froth flotation process in the presence of a depressant and in which (1) pyrites and/or pyrrhotite, and/or (2) sphalerite, is depressed by using as the depressant a condensation product of an aldehyde with a compound containing at least two amine or amide groups.

Abstract: A rotary piston conveyor comprising a plurality of interengaged rotors in which at least one rotor is driven and, in turn, drives the other rotors. Each pair of adjacent rotors have spiral vanes which mesh to form the conveyor path as the rotors rotate. The degree of interengagement of the flanks or edges of the meshed vanes determine the efficiency of the conveyor path formed by the meshed vanes for any particular material or groups of material. Hence the rotors are adjustable to vary the interengagement of the vanes. The clearance between vanes in a direction parallel to the shaft determines the size or cross-section of the conveyor path. Hence, the rotors are longitudinally adjustable with respect to each other to vary the clearance. The adjustment device includes a split gear on the driven rotor and means for making each of the two adjustments as well as markings or indicia which may be read against a marker to show the degree of adjustment.
Abstract: A method for the production of an expanding cement which includes the steps n which so-called "Portland cement" is dry-mixed with an expanding additive which comprises 6 to 30% of the total weight of the cement. The expanding additive contains 2 to 8% dialuminium pentahydroxychloride, 4% to 15% gypsum, and optionally, a small amount up to about 7% lime. All percentages are by weight. The dialuminium pentahydroxychloride (Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.5 Cl 2.5 H.sub.2 O) is a source of aluminium ions, which are necessary to form an increased (expanded) quantity of ettringite. It has high solubility, forming a solution having a concentration above 50%, and has a high content of active dialuminium trioxide (approximately 46%), a low content of chlorine and is not hygroscopic. The lime component is not critical and its addition depends on the desirability for greater expansion (without lime) or lesser expansion and higher strength (with lime).

Abstract: Compositions for cold, hard surface sanitization and sterilization solution having prolonged shelf-life which comprise chlorine dioxide and selected quaternary salts of the generic formula R', R" N(CH.sub.3).sub.2 X in which R' and R" are alkyl radicals each of which has at least 8 carbon atoms and the total carbon atoms of R' and R" equals 18-24 and X is a halide, and used therefor.
Abstract: Core material for use in building elements in which the interspace between the outer layers is filled up with a porous material comprising at least two layers which are interconnected on a minor part of their surfaces facing each other, preferably by glueing. According to the invention the core material consists of two layers of bonded mineral wool the surfaces of which are touching each other, the interconnection being along the edges. The core material reduces sound transmission without substantially reducing mechanical strength.
Abstract: Lactose, especially derived from whey, is efficiently hydrolysed to glucose and galactose by contact in water with a solid, insoluble, stongly acidic ion exchange resin based on certain cross-linked polystyrenes or certain carbohydrates. The products are valuable in food manufacture.
Abstract: As new compounds having .beta.-receptor blocking activity, isopropylamino-(pyridyloxy)-propanols with the general formula ##STR1## wherein R denotes hydrogen or amino. The compounds are prepared by reacting a corresponding 3-pyridinol with epichlorohydrin and the resulting product with isopropylamine.
Abstract: A backgammon game board for simultneous play of at least three players. The game board is divided by transverse and longitudinal lines to provide eight adjoining boards, each of said boards including six points. Each player has a pair of said boards and color coded playing pieces. The complete board contains forty-eight playing points, and each player moves his playing pieces through both his pair of boards and those of an opponent.

Abstract: Backgammon game board for the simultaneous play of four players. The game board is divided by transverse and longitudinal line to provide eight boards, each board including six points, said boards being symmetrically disposed about a central playing area. The central playing area contains selectively eight, 10 or 12 playing points through which each player must move his playing pieces from his two outer boards to his two inner boards. The eight boards contain 48 playing points which may be color coded in a manner corresponding to the color coding of the playing pieces so as to identify the flow of each player's playing pieces.
