    Abstract: Disclosed is a layered photosensitive device which can be used in an electrophotographic imaging system, this device comprising a substrate which can be conductive or nonconductive, a hole injecting layer capable of injecting positive charges or holes into a layer on its surface, comprised of trigonal selenium, alloys of selenium-tellurium or nickel selenide, a combined or separate transport and generating layer in operative contact with the layer of hole injecting material such layer in one embodiment being comprised of an inorganic or organic photoconductive materials, and as an optional layer an insulating resin overlaying the photoconductive layer. Examples of materials useful as the transport-generating layer include selenium, arsenic-selenium alloys, metal phthalocyanines, metal free phthalocyanines. Also certain types of diamine compounds can be used as the transport layer.
