  • Patent number: 4094023
Abstract: A toilet seat is provided on its underside with a suction tube having perforations that are in communication with the interior of the toilet bowl when the seat rests on the upper edge of the bowl with a sealing gasket arranged on the underside of the seat outwardly of such tube. When the seat rests on the upper edge of the bowl the suction tube is communicated with an electrically motorized suction blower unit through a mating face joint. An adjustable discharge tube extends from the blower unit into the bowl and is designed to extend under the trap and is adapted to be sealed off by the water normally present in the bowl so as to prevent sewer gases from coming into the bowl while causing odors from the bowl to be discharged through the normal drain passage of the bowl into the sewer line when the seat is down and the suction blower unit is activated by household electrical current through a switch unit.

  • Patent number: 4070922
Abstract: The rotor balancing device disclosed herein comprises a cylindrical cup-shaped housing for mounting in a hollow rotor to be balanced having a central pivot on which two bushes are mounted. Two bob weights are connected by tension springs or other restraining devices to the two respective bushes to rotate about a pivot within the housing wall. The inner side of the housing wall and/or the weights have a coating of a contact or thermally activated adhesive. The restraining force of the tension springs is such that when the shaft in which the balancing device is mounted is rotated to a speed between natural frequencies of the vibration of the shaft and is nearer the lower frequency (i.e.

  • Patent number: 4069800
Abstract: A servo piston is driven to compress fuel in a pressure chamber which communicates with a needle valve which is spring biased to block communication between the pressure chamber and a fuel injection nozzle. When the fuel pressure exceeds a value equivalent to the preload of the spring, the pressurized fuel moves the needle valve off its seat so that fuel from the pressure chamber is injected into an engine through the injection nozzle. Further movement of the servo piston unblocks a port to allow fuel at supply pressure to act on the needle valve in the same direction as the spring to sharply seat the needle valve and cleanly terminate fuel injection. Further movement of the servo piston uncovers another port so that the pressure chamber is depressurized through connection with the supply and the needle valve is firmly held on its seat.

  • Patent number: 4069481
Abstract: A pulse radar apparatus has video quantizing means for digitally encoding the received video signals at a first clock rate. The encoded video is fed into storage means, read out at a second clock rate, converted to analogue form and applied to a cathode ray tube to give a display, e.g. a P.P.I. display. The cathode ray tube has a constant time base speed and different range scales for the display are obtained by switching the speeds of writing into and/or reading out of the store. Multiple stores permit asynchronous reading and writing. Multi-level amplitude coding of the video amplitude is employed.

  • Patent number: 4067303
Abstract: Flyweights are connected to a fuel control rod through a tension lever and a floating lever. A speed control lever is connected to the floating lever so that the engine speed is determined by the rotational speed of the flyweights and the position of the speed control lever in combination. A governor spring is compressed between two spring seats which are slidably carried on a governor rod, and the tension lever moves against the force of the governor spring by engaging with one of the spring seats. A nut is threaded on the governor rod and retains the spring seat opposite to the tension arm. A pin integral with the nut is slidable in a groove in the governor housing so that the nut may move only axially. An end of the governor rod extends out through the housing so that rotation of the governor rod adjusts the compressive preload of the governor spring. The governor, which is basically an all-speed governor, may thus be made to function as a high-low speed governor.

  • Patent number: 4060009
Abstract: A rotor to be balanced has an annular cavity containing two balls free to roll around the cavity. An initially inert thermo-setting adhesive is coated around the cavity. The rotor is rotated to a speed just above its first resonant frequency of vibration and the balls take up balancing positions in the cavity counter balancing the out of balance of the shaft. The adhesive is activated by a temporarily placed external heat source to permanently lock the balls in the balancing position so that the shaft is permanently balanced.

  • Patent number: 4060318
Abstract: A projector for projecting a movable spot of light onto a screen includes a pair of plates mounted adjacent and parallel to each other, each plate being opaque, apart from a straight slot. The slots cross one another at a crossing point defining an aperture which is transparent to light from a light source. The plates are mounted to be independently movable in such a way that the aperture is selectively displaceable thereby to allow controlled movement of the spot on the screen.

  • Patent number: 4058742
Abstract: In a high power transmitter, more particularly a pulsed transmitter for a phase comparison navigation system, a plurality of solid state current control units are connected to respective separate sections of a primary inductance unit, these sections together forming a primary coupled to a secondary winding in the antenna circuit. The solid state control units may for example be switching units for timed switching of previously charged capacitors into resonant circuits. Switch controlled damping means may be provided for the tank circuits and antenna circuit in a pulse transmitter. Coil constructions are described permitting of the use of a large number of primary coil sections with separate current control units.
