Abstract: A pair of bi-directional breakout wrenches on a drilling rig, each wrench including a body member having an inside cam surface with a plurality of locking cogs positioned around the cam surface, each cog being rotatably journaled on a shaft with a loose-fit allowing the cogs limited lateral movement and a pair or side plates positioned on the sides of the body member supporting the cog shafts, the side plates including a handle for rotation of the side plates relative to the wrench body causing the locking cogs to engage the cam surface and move inwardly gripping the drill pipe section. One of said wrenches being attached to a linear actuator providing rotative torque to the wrench body for breaking open a threaded drill string joint while the other wrench retains the string from movement.

The blade in plan form is tapered at both ends with the maximum chord approximate the 44% percent station of the blade, the leading edge of the blade being swept behind the longitudinal axis of the blade near its tip and the trailing edge is convex and essentially straight from its maximum chord outward to the tip.

Abstract: The present invention provides a mammographic compression technique which permits the paddle to be aligned in any angular view with the cutout portion of the paddle positioned over the implant to reduce the amount of compression of the implant thereby lessening the blockage of the breast tissue. The invention comprises a compression paddle formed of x-ray transmissive material having sidewalls extending normally from a planar bottom surrounding the periphery which lays outside of the cutout portion.
Abstract: An anti-choke blender fitting used in a pneumatic conveyor system utilizing a negative pressure to transport milling stock material, the fitting including a body with a top surface joined by downwardly extending side walls terminating in an open bottom with a channel-shaped relief gate with upwardly extending side walls hingedly mounted to the body with a closed position of the relief gate closing the open bottom of the body in a non air-tight relationship with the side walls of the gate extending above the spout of the inlet conduit, thereby minimizing the leakage of milling stock around the periphery of the relief gate in its closed position.
Abstract: The invention is a method of forming a spherical bearing shell comprising an overlay casting process which utilizes a ceramic insert having a semi-spherical close-tolerance outer surface with a casting sprue opening therethrough and lubrication ribs on said outer surface. The ceramic insert is placed within structural bearing housing, defining an overlay cavity therebetween which is then cast with a molten bearing alloy into the sprue opening of the insert to a level above the height of the overlay cavity. The sprue opening is then back-drilled so that the ceramic insert and plug of bearing alloy can be separated from the bearing housing and overlay surface leaving a semi-spherical bearing surface with lubrication grooves cast therein.
Abstract: A barrel type internal combustion engine having a plurality of axially-positioned cylinders, with reciprocating pistons, arranged in a circular pattern with a drive shaft supported in a cylinder block in a cantilevered manner by a sleeve bearing and a wobble spider rotatably supported on an offset portion of the drive shaft by a second sleeve bearing. A first roller bearing positioned between the offset portion of the drive shaft and the wobble spider, and another roller bearing at the opposite end of the drive shaft acting in opposition to the first roller between the shaft and the engine block supporting thrust loads.
Abstract: A four-wheel mobile vehicle including provision for controlling the steering position of each of the four (4) wheels so that every wheel's rolling axis will intersect at a common point around which the vehicle will turn. The control is provided by a pair of cables, one on each side of the vehicle which interconnect a pair of front and back wheels to turn each pair through similar angles in the opposite direction.The variance in angular turning between wheels on opposite sides of the vehicle is caused by wrapping the cables on each side around an identical cam pulley, one on each side, both of which are mounted on a common shaft so that their angular rotation is always identical while their winding radius is changing.
Abstract: A fuel-injection system for a stratified charge hybrid internal combustion engine including a main combustion chamber and prechamber, fuel injectors in both the main chamber and the prechamber which open at higher and lower pressure levels respectively to sequentially inject fuel into the prechamber and main chamber. The system also includes a timed-spark ignition means in the prechamber and an engine-driven and timed fuel injection pump having a variable output capacity which varies with the power level requirements, the injection pump being supplied by a low pressure charge pump.
Abstract: The present invention is a positioning system providing precise linear and arcuate movements of the carriage along either straight or curved sections of rail comprising a pair of pivoting bogies attached to the carriage which have a pair of oppositely-directed ball bearing assemblies rigidly mounted to journal shafts on the bogies for retention and contact of the roller bearings with opposing sides of the rail running surfaces in a preloaded condition on the rail.
