  • Patent number: 6601283
Abstract: Preforms or parisons are blow molded from synthetic resin into hollow articles including a neck region and a body area, the hollow articles having hooks and recessed areas formed into their outside walls. Flexible strings are molded below the neck region of varying thickness in the longitudinal direction to achieve molecular orientation of the synthetic resin. The flexible strings are looped around the hooks or lifted above the neck finishes to form flexible handle containers. Rigid handles or combined flexible string and rigid handle portions are incorporated into the hollow articles to form rigid handle containers.

  • Patent number: 6280788
Abstract: For manufacturing a catheter tubing (50), a container (1, 21) provided with a passage (15, 35, 36), a mandrel (7) sealing off that passage (15, 35, 36) when inserted into said passage and a solution (14) containing a dissolved plastic in the container (1, 21) up to a level above the passage (15, 35, 36) are provided. Repeatedly, the mandrel (7) is inserted into the passage and at least a section of the mandrel (7) is passed through the passage (15, 35, 36) and the solution (14) in an upward direction. When sufficient plastic material has adhered to the mandrel (7), the catheter tubing (50) is removed from the mandrel (7). Thus, catheters having thin, smooth walls of a uniform thickness can be manufactured without expensive machinery and tools. A system for carrying out the method and particular catheters obtainable by that method are also described.

  • Patent number: 6217819
Abstract: In a single-row and expandable into a multi-row stretch blow molding method and apparatus, a robot having a universal gripper assembly is used to pick up molded preforms during the clamp opening stroke of a preform-molding unit and then transfer the preforms at variable time intervals to a conditioning, stretch blow molding and discharge unit, releases finished hollow articles and returns to a waiting position at the preform-molding unit independent of the preform-molding cycle. Simultaneously, component transfer devices pick up external components, i.e. labels, valves or handles during the stretch blow molding phase and release the components into the blow-mold cavities while the universal gripper assembly is in the waiting position. The universal gripper assembly can alternatively also be pivoted to pick up preforms from a lateral reheat unit to supplement the molded preform supply.

  • Patent number: 6214305
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the oxidation of liquid or solid contaminants in the exhaust gas from diesel engines is provided. The process is conducted by passing the contaminated diesel engine exhaust gas through a turbulent gas flow, particulate separator, wherein this separator contains a plurality of separate and serially-arranged vertical plates arranged so that there is no net gas flow in the space between two adjacent vertical plates. The plates contain a catalytically active surface of (i) a mixture of metal salts and/or metals oxides, such as a mixture of the oxides of vanadium, molybdenum and alkali metals, which may be in a molten state at the operating temperature of the separator and (ii) one or more catalytically active metal or metal compounds to promote the oxidation of soot, such as metals or metal compounds of iron, platinum and palladium.

  • Patent number: 5833899
Abstract: One or several molten materials are extruded at low pressure from one or several continuous plasticizers through central stationary nozzles via individually circumferential flow passages of common distribution spools directly into individual extendable transfer reservoirs. From there, the molten materials are transferred in a continuous cascading manner into secondary transfer reservoirs to be subsequently transferred and condensed within mold cavities into finished molded articles. The central stationary nozzles and stationary primary displacement plugs are grooved with lateral longitudinal melt-flow channels to allow the conveyance of molten materials across intersecting molten material passage ways during the extending movement of the manifold assembly. The molten materials are conveyed through secondary displacement plugs into secondary transfer reservoirs by external cylinders, retracting the manifold assembly on adjustable-length spacer rods in unison against the stationary primary displacement plugs.

  • Patent number: 5662856
Abstract: Hollow plastic articles are produced by a method wherein molten material is first conveyed at low pressure via a telescoping nozzle, across compensating rods in the melt passages and individually circumferential flow passages of common primary distribution spools into transfer reservoirs. Upon completion of the controlled filling phase, primary and secondary distribution spools are shifted, the mold manifold assembly with the transfer housing together with the mold cavity bottoms and outside wall-forming sleeves are drawn in unison against stationary displacement plugs which transfer the molten material from the transfer reservoirs around the fixed-position core pin tips and into corresponding mold cavities. After completion of the cavity filling phase, the common secondary distribution spools, located close to the mold cavity bottom gates, are shifted laterally such that their land areas shut off the external melt streams.

  • Patent number: 5286484
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method for the isolation of a nucleotide sequence which codes for a protein having a molecular weight of about 64,000 daltons, which is located on the outer membrane of N. meningitidis, as well as with the recombinant DNA obtained therefrom, which is used for the transformation of a host microorganism. The technical object pursued with the invention is the identification of a nucleotide sequence coding for a highly conserved and common protein for the majority of pathogenic Neisseria strains, the production of this protein with a high level of purity and in commercially useful amounts using the recombinant way, so that it can be used in diagnostic methods and vaccine preparations with a broad immunoprotection spectrum.
