  • Patent number: 4411681
Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing glass bottles and more specifically an apparatus and a method for forming parisons is disclosed. At least one blank mold defines a mold cavity having an opening at its upper end for receiving a premeasured gob of molten glass from a loading cavity member. A plunger having a volume of at least 15% of the volume of the mold cavity is completely extended into the mold cavity prior to the reception of the molten glass. The molten glass is moved downwardly from said loading cavity member into the mold cavity. Fluid force presses the molten glass against the walls of the mold cavity and against the extended plunger. The opening in the mold is closed by a baffle and the plunger retracted. Compressed air is applied through the neck of the parison to expand the parison outwardly against the mold cavity and a mold surface defined by the baffle means. The parison is then separated for further processing in the bottle making operation.

  • Patent number: 4406164
Abstract: A hard bearing cradle balancing machine involving novel elements for workpiece support and end thrust restraint, angle of unbalance indication and machine mounted drill press slide. "V" block bearings incorporating independently tilting pads provide uniform journal contact without torsional restraint that would otherwise result from workpiece misalignment. A device magnetically attached to the end of the workpiece maintains axial positioning thereof and communicates rotational position and speed information to an electronic vibration analyzer, as well as rotational reference information to the machine operator. A balancer mounted drill press slide freely traverses the workpiece axis, locking up only upon application of drilling pressure at any point thereon.

  • Patent number: 4406468
Abstract: This invention is a seal assembly for sealing fluid needles, spindles and other movable cylindrical objects where a fluid tight seal is needed between the fluid and non-fluid sides of the movable cylindrical object. The seal includes a packing member with a sharply cut-off tubular end and a stop member with a conical recess, both of which encircle the movable cylindrical object. An unrestrained flow cavity is defined by the packing member and the stop member. Positioned behind the packing member are a spring and washer which axially bias the packing member into the conical recess.

  • Patent number: 4392694
Abstract: An improved bearing assembly is disclosed for supporting a split drive shaft of a vehicle. An inner, rotatable race of a bearing engages the drive shaft and an outer, non-rotatable race of the bearing is mounted in a resilient rubber block. The rubber block, which is connected through a bracket to the vehicle frame, permits limited radial and axial movement of the bearing. The bracket has a flange spaced from the rubber block to the rear of the bearing which limits axial movement of the bearing to prevent the drive shaft from pulling the bearing from the rubber block.

  • Patent number: 4388997
Abstract: An improved paint cup for a suction feed hand held spray gun having a jar and a removable cap. A resilient unitary molded check valve either is positioned within or is positioned to cover a vent opening extending through the cap to allow exterior air to flow into the jar while inhibiting paint flow from the jar through the vent opening when the spray gun is tilted.

  • Patent number: 4383711
Abstract: The invention is directed to a support frame for a trailer having opposed side walls. At least one channel is positioned on the opposed side walls of the trailer. A substantially L-shaped bracket having a first leg and a second leg is secured to the channel. The first leg of the bracket extends over and engages the channel and the second leg of the bracket extends along the surface of the channel. A support surface is attached to the second leg of the bracket and the support surface extends from the surface of the second leg in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the surface of the second leg. The support surface is disposed in the trailer for supporting loading structure between the opposed side walls of the trailer.
