  • Patent number: 6781087
Abstract: Three adjustable electrodes (33a-33c) within a chamber (40) form a thermal plasma generating system (30). The electrodes (33a-33c) are positioned with a narrow gap at one portion and a wide gap at another portion to form a cone shape. The gap between the electrodes is adjusted to accommodate for wear on the electrodes (33a-33c). An electric arc is initiated at the narrowest point between two electrodes which moves over the length of the electrodes because of a magnetic field created by the arc and the forward motion of the injected stream. At the end of the electrodes, the arc is extinguished and another arc is initiated. The continuous are moving along the electrodes ionizes a working stream that is tangentially injected from three pneumatic rings (35a-35c) which provide improved mixing of the working stream for high quality thermal plasma. The thermal plasma exits through a narrow orifice (42).

  • Patent number: 6732892
Abstract: An extension bed apparatus for carrying a load with a vehicle. The extension bed includes a frame connector adapted to connect to the vehicle frame, a bed wall extending upward from the frame connector, a bed base adapted to be compacted or extending for carrying different loads, and a first movement absorbing connector attaching the bed wall to the frame rack so that the shock absorbing system on the vehicle may move the frame rack mounted on the vehicle body in relation to the frame while still supporting the extension bed. Multiple racks may be used for supporting loads off of both the front and back of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6712225
Abstract: A socket holder for providing increased holding power, rotational release, and biased position return. The socket holder including a base with a pin extending from the base. The pin has a conical section with an increasing diameter at the distal end of the pin. The conical section has a reduced curvature side and an increased curvature side such that a ball can be wedged between the increased curvature side and a socket base to hold the socket on the holder. The reduced curvature side allowing the ball to be rotated around the pin to reduce the wedge force between the ball and the socket to release the socket from the holder. A spring is used to both bias the ball against the pin and the socket base and to automatically return the holder to a state of readiness for holding a new socket once a socket is removed from the holder.

  • Patent number: 6334444
Abstract: A wrist restraint apparatus includes two straps threaded through an outer sleeve. By grasping the outer sleeve at a thumb-rest with one hand, a user can use his other hand to pull the outer sleeve to the rear, thus tightening the straps around the wrists of a restrained person. The length of the straps can then be secured by rotating the outer sleeve until the locking pin engages the appropriate notch in the locking channel port. To loosen or remove the straps, the outer sleeve is pulled slightly to the rear and rotated so that the locking pin disengages from the locking channel port. Once the device is applied, additional restraints, such as standard handcuffs or ankle cuffs, can be used if necessary to meet custody and control level escort requirements. The device acts as a handle to provide control over the inmate from the rear.

  • Patent number: 6309270
Abstract: Swim gear including a headpiece which covers the forward portion of the wearer's head and supports a pair of spaced lenses therein. A tailpiece which extends rearwardly from the forward portion of the wearer's head and terminates atop the wearer's head. An elastic band member is secured to the tailpiece and extends downwardly across the back of the wearer's head for secured relation with a connector member which is slidably carried on a head-encircling band. The head-encircling band extends around the wearer's head and has its ends secured to the headpiece adjacent each lens. The upper portion of the headpiece includes a surface for support of an appendage thereon. As a novelty feature, the appendage may be configured in the shape of the dorsal fin of a shark. Other configurations may be provided on the appendage, if desired.

  • Patent number: 6296318
Abstract: In a device for milling off ground surfaces, especially roadways, having a wheel frame carrying a machine frame, a milling roller supported in the machine frame and extending transversely to the direction of travel, at least one conveyor means arranged in front of the milling roller in the direction of travel for removing the milled material, and having a shield arrangement extending transversely to the direction of travel between the milling roller and the conveyor means having a vertical cover plate with a passage opening for the milled material, it is provided that the end, on the side of the milling roller, of the conveyor means is dismountably supported in a belt shoe fixed to the machine frame in a height-adjustable manner, and that the belt shoe and the conveyor means comprise guiding means and coupling means adapted to one another.

  • Patent number: 6283061
Abstract: A terrarium filtering device, apparatus, and method is disclosed which includes a base filtration plate, a barrier wall, and an environment separation cup. The present invention includes a terrarium filtering system for maintaining a wet environment, a moist environment, and a dry environment within an aquarium tank. The filtering system includes a terrarium filter plate with a barrier wall to separate the wet and moist areas, water flow holes and water movers connected to a bubbling system to provide aeration and create a water flow, and a passive waste neutralization system. The terrarium filter plate is covered with a filtering media and together they act as a filtering device. Waste materials in the water are moved by flowing water to be trapped in the filtering media, and a porous passive neutralization system is used to offset toxins in the water flow.
