Abstract: The Profiled rail system (1) serves for bridging expansion joints, cavities and as an edging of floor coverings (3). System (1) has at least one web (9) aligned substantially parallel to the floor covering (3), which web (9) engages displaceably in a pocket (10). Pocket (10) is formed by a cover plate (13) overlapping the web (9) and a base plate (14) under the web (9). Pocket (10) is configured in at least two parts (11, 12). The first part (11) forms cover plate (13). The second part (12) forms base plate (14). The first part (11) and the second part (12) are held together. In a first embodiment, a undercut web (20) holds the parts together by a click connection. In a second embodiment, the parts are held together by at least one screw (18).

Abstract: A profile rail system (1) is used to cover a covering edge (2). The profile rail system (1) consists of at least one base rail (4) and at least one cover rail (5) that can be adjusted relative to the base rail. The base rail (4) and cover rail (5) are held together by at least one permanent magnet (20) in such a way that the cover rail (5) is pulled towards the base rail (4). At least a section of the base rail (4) and cover rail (5) can be magnetized to achieve a polarity-independent force effect of the permanent magnet (20).

Abstract: A drive circuit is provided for an OLED in a pixel array. The circuit includes input voltage signal receiving means. Output voltage signal generating means are operably connected to the pixel diode. Means are provided for processing the input voltage signal to replicate the inverse IV characteristic of the pixel diode, to form the output voltage signal.

Abstract: The dental model trimmer includes a wheel having an abrasive surface, a motor for rotating the wheel, and ultraviolet light source powerful enough to inactivate bacteria. The components are located in an enclosure that has an opening to permit access to the abrasive surface of the wheel. The light source is mounted within the enclosure to illuminate a section of the abrasive surface of the wheel that is spaced from the access opening. The enclosure includes wall means interposed between the light source and the access opening for preventing direct light emitted from the UV light source from exiting the access opening. The enclosure is provided with an interlock switch that will automatically turn off the light source when the enclosure is opened. The same switch can be used to deactivate the motor and a source of water provided to the abrasive surface, if desired.

Abstract: The medical implant for treating pathological obesity is adapted to modify and, as an alternative, to bypass the natural food passage in the digestive tract. The implant permits an adjustable bypassing of food into the small intestine and/or into the stomach (natural digestive path). Since the ratio of this bypass is adjustable in the course of the treatment by the physician, e.g. with the aid of an endoscope, for the first time a balance between the therapeutic effect and the side-effects can be adapted individually to each patient by the use of the implant. The implant has a hollow body with first and a second tubular end portions and at least one third lateral opening having a hose-like extension. The individual at least partly closable hose-like extensions differ in their ability to allow the passage of food into the stomach.

Abstract: An eyeglass frame is provided that includes a lens retaining part including first and second lens retaining sections connected by a bridge. One of the sections includes a lens receiving opening defined by a rim having a groove into which an edge of a lens is adapted to be received, and a second opening proximate the lens receiving opening and spaced apart from the bridge. The section also includes a channel extending between the lens receiving opening and the second opening. The channel is adapted to be enlarged to expand the rim such that the edge of the lens can be situated in the groove in the rim. The one section may be formed from a flexible material. The section may be formed from a single piece of molded plastic. The bridge may be substantially non-expandable. An eyewear system is provided, and a method of assembling eyewear is provided.

Abstract: The invention relates to a force sensor for measuring a bearing force of a roller deviating a web of material. The force sensor includes a base element on which at least one sensor element is supported. The sensor element has at least one plate which can be elastically deformed by the bearing force and is provided with at least one force transducer. The sensor element is loaded by a pressure piece into which the bearing force is introduced by means of a spring. The spring has a larger range of spring—in the direction of the force—than the elastically deformable plate for the same load. In order to limit the action of the force on the sensor element, an annular abutment is provided, against which the pressure piece can be pressed flat. The abutment is provided around the sensor element.

In order to be able to mount the baseboard in either of two 180°-rotated positions, the baseboard has a longitudinally extending axis of symmetry. The first contour in a first edge region, rotated through 180° about the axis of symmetry, corresponds to the second contour in a second edge region. Moreover, the second contour in the first edge region, rotated through 180° about the axis of symmetry, corresponds to the first contour in the second edge region.

Abstract: The tool has a handle and a rigid shaft that extends from the handle. The shaft has an end. It also has a bore that extends from the handle to the end of the shaft. A LED is situated in the bore, proximate the end of the shaft. The handle has a recess. A battery is situated within the recess. The LED is electrically connected to battery by a wire extending through the bore, between the LED and the handle. In the screwdriver embodiments, the end of the shaft is designed to engage a screw. Interchangeable heads are provided in the screwdriver embodiment for use with screws of various configurations. In another embodiment, the end of the shaft is planar such that light from the bore can illuminate hard to reach areas or focus on a small area.

Abstract: The document management system has a Native Template database including a list of templates for one or more types of documents having common characteristics and a Conversion Database including a list of one or more data points associated with each listed document type, one or more descriptive text entries associated with each listed data point, and proximity range information relating to the location of the data point within the descriptive text. The locations of words, sentences, paragraphs, and sections within the externally generated document are recorded and a document type is selected from the Native Template database that has common characteristics. A data point is selected from the template and the introduced document is searched for Possible Data Points. A determination is made as to whether Possible Data Point values are located within a Proximity Range. A cumulative Evaluation Score is calculated for each Possible Data Point value. The Possible Data Point with the highest score is recorded.

Abstract: A portable security enclosure assembly is provided for use with a vehicle of the type having a surface. The enclosure includes a base and means for fixing the base to the vehicle surface. Means are provided for detachably mounting the enclosure to the base. The mounting means includes first and second rings pivotally mounted on the base surface for movement between an upright position and a non-upright position. The rings are spaced apart. The enclosure has first and second openings adapted to align with the rings, respectively, when the enclosure is situated on the base, such that the rings extend through the openings in the enclosure when the rings are in the upright position. A locking bar, longer than the distance between the rings, is adapted to be simultaneously received through the rings, so as to secure the enclosure to the base.

Abstract: An adjustable lens with a self-illuminating scale for use in photography, cinematography, or videography has a housing surface with scale markings and an opaque member with a reference marking mounted over and movable relative to the surface. The movement of the member normally adjusts a parameter of the lens. The scale markings are visible through a window in the member. The edge of the member adjacent the scale has an opening. A light source is situated within a recess in the member adjacent the opening. Light is directed from the light source through the edge opening in a direction along the surface of the surface such that the visible scale markings are illuminated, while light from the light source is otherwise substantially prevented from escaping from the lens. The activation and intensity of the light source is controlled by movement of the member or an external illumination controller.

Abstract: The scope of the invention is to apply an electric current or to use a kind of iontophoresis system with the hemodialysis cartridge and system (the proposed method is also applicable to peritoneal dialysis or other similar methods) to remove unwanted molecules from blood, plasma or serum or other body fluids and to increase the effectiveness of the process. This cartridge can be used for patients with uremia and cartridge fixed to the conventional hemodialysis machine and additionally the electric current applied to the electrodes placed in to the cartridge or electrode connectors placed to the conventional cartridge. When the system activated, the molecules in the blood or other body fluid migrates to the hemodialysis solution. Charged ions or uncharged molecules move together with electroosmotic flow. The sterilized electrodes preferably made by Ag/AgCl to prevent pH changing effect. Other apparatus can also be used for providing an electropotential gradient.

Abstract: A system is provided for automatically processing gaming documents. The system obtains the dollar value of the document directly by optically identifying each dollar value characters from a scanned image of the document, instead of forwarding the bar-coded validation number to a remote database to ascertain the dollar value. This is achieved by storing a plurality of templates, each representative of a possible character of the dollar value. Optical character recognition is used to identify each dollar value character image by comparing each of the stored templates in turn with the image. The template with the highest degree of coincidence is selected. The value of the selected template is stored in ASCII format for display, validation and/or manipulation. Each document image is compressed. Periodically, the compressed document images of the documents processed during that period are transferred to a remote location for long term storage.
