Abstract: A ball socket member molded of resilient resin material is open at one end to receive and retain a ball in a part spherical cavity within the body communicating with a chamber containing a lubricant. The socket member carries a skirt at its open end which is adapted to form a seal with a member which carries the ball to prevent leakage and/or contamination of lubrication contained within the body cavity. Relief grooves are formed in the socket member which distribute lubricant on the ball and vent excess lubrication from the cavity as the ball is pressed into the cavity. The socket member has a polygonal external surface having a circumferential groove formed therein which receives the portion of the linkage member surrounding a complementary polygonal opening therein, so as to anchor the socket member against rotation relative to the linkage member.
Abstract: A manual utility cart including a frame having spaced cargo retaining portions and a lower portion. An axle journaled in the lower portion of said frame journals a first set of wheels. A second set of wheels is journaled on an axle spaced from and supported by said first axle and is shiftable about the first axle between a retracted position and a frame supporting position to raise the first set of wheels from a surface. A cover overlies both sets of wheels to support a cargo within the frame.
Abstract: A cart including a detachable carrier for moving firewood from a stockpile to a fireplace within a living quarter. The cart includes large wheels for movement over rough terrain while the cart is loaded and a set of smaller wheels for movement of the cart within buildings. The cart also includes a stair climbing apparatus to enable pulling a loaded cart up a flight of stairs. In one embodiment the smaller wheels are shiftable between a raised and a lowered position for selected usage upon operation of a linkage. In a second embodiment the smaller wheels are journaled on the detachable carrier.
Abstract: A protective member for use in securing metal coils to a transport vehicle or other support. The member is formed of hard, wear-resistant material having a coil contacting surface and an opposed surface. The opposed surface is grooved to receive a cable, chain or other securement member which spans the coil and whose ends are secured to the vehicle or other support. A plurality of magnetic strips are secured to the coil engaging surface of the block for positioning the block on a metal coil. Releasable chain or cable retaining means are carried by the member transversely of said groove.
Abstract: An expansion bulb for plugging a conduit or passage which includes an expandable sleeve encircling a body and secured to the body by caps securing opposite ends of the sleeve to the body with each end of the sleeves extending into recesses in the body. Pressurized air or fluid is supplied through a passage in the body to cause radial expansion of the sleeve relative to the body.
Abstract: This security device is designed for padlocks, so as to prevent their shackle members from being cut by a bolt cutter or a hacksaw. Primarily, it consists of a main body, which nestles the padlock, and which leaves no room for the operation of a bolt cutter or hacksaw to remove it from the assembly. The assembly further includes a strap for engaging with whatever is to be locked, and it includes a clevis pin for retaining the assembly together, in combination with the lock.
Abstract: A valved discharge member for use with the water supply system for use with cages of fowl and small animals, wherein a valve element in the member engages two spaced valve seats and is unseated by movement laterally and upwardly of a pin extending through a discharge opening and projecting below the housing.
Abstract: A broadcasting apparatus for pulverant or granular material including a frame supported by wheels, an axle extending between the wheels and connected in driving relationship with at least one of the wheels, a material hopper mounted on the frame and having an opening in its bottom wall, a valve adjustable across the hopper opening to control the flow of material therefrom, a guide for the valve to retain the valve in selected position adjacent the hopper opening, a dial having a cam surface, a member connected to the valve and bearing on the dial cam surface, a mount for the dial connected to the bottom wall of the hopper and guiding the connecting member, a broadcasting plate disposed beneath the valve and connected to the axle to rotate upon movement of the wheels, and an agitator within the hopper connected to rotate with the shaft and broadcasting plate.
Abstract: A roof cavity venting system which draws in outside air, mixes it with inside air in the roof cavity to heat the cold outside air and dehumidify the inside air, and expels the mixture into the home living quarters.
