  • Patent number: 5692701
Abstract: Leg brackets for the reel holder have a bore between the side surfaces of its body portion. The bores are capable of receiving existing conduit which is combined with the leg brackets to form a holder for wire reels. The body portion has upwardly angled leg sockets extending in from each end and capable of receiving legs that support the body portion in a reel holding position. These legs can also be formed of existing conduit. A full width bottom slot is provided in the body portion which is combined with a cinching bolt at a lower portion of the body portion in the area of the slot. The cinching bolt when tightened being arranged to move the sides of the slot toward each other to bind the legs in their sockets. When the cinching bolt is released, the legs can be released from the body portion for disassembly of the holder.

  • Patent number: 5690260
Abstract: A bicycle carrier has a body member which is tubular in shape and size to have a telescoped connected fit in a tubular vehicle hitch member. A pivot support is provided at a rearward portion of the body member and pivotally supports an upright bicycle support post. Pivot support for the post is between an upright bicycle loaded position and a rearward tilted bicycle loading and unloading position that allows a tailgate for a rear door of a vehicle to be opened. Cooperating cam and a cam follower is connected between the upright support post and are driven by a turnbuckle assembly to provide a firm compressive contact between the body member and a vehicle hitch member when the bicycle support post is pivoted to its upright position whereby to provide a tight rattle-free support of the upright bicycle support post on the pivot. The cam and cam follower can also be tightened to the extent to provide a theft-proof connection.

  • Patent number: 5658053
Abstract: A hub for greasing inner and outer shaft bearings on a spindle having greasing passageways leading in from the front of the hub. One passageway leads to the front of the outer bearing and the other passageway leads to the rear of the inner bearing. A purging passageway is provided between the inner and outer bearings whereby upon pressured grease being forced into greasing passageways in the direction of the purging passageways, new grease is forced in an axial direction through the bearings and old grease and contaminants are purged. An annular seal between the bearings provides the purging passageway with the spindle, such passageway being next to the shaft for maintaining a supply of grease on the shaft. The seal has at least one annular recess for providing additional storage of grease. Grease holding areas are provided adjacent the bearings such that grease is forced into the bearings by centrifugal force when the hub rotates on the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5642723
Abstract: An elastic band projectile slinger has an elongated base forming an elongated projectile guide track along its length. A pivoted support plate on the front end of the base anchors a pair of elongated elastic bands which are stretchable to a releasable latch adjacent the rear end of the base. Release of the latch is controlled by a finger-operated trigger. An elongated arrow projectile is positionable in the guide track with the rear nock end of the arrow engaging a cord joining the rear ends of the elastic bands. The front end of the arrow has a point member of magnetically susceptible material and is secured in the guide track by a magnet mounted on the base. When the trigger is operated to release the latch, the contraction of the elastic bands moves the latch rapidly forward, releasing the elastic bands to contract in the forward direction and carry the arrow forwardly therewith.

  • Patent number: 5581963
Abstract: Wall elements have edge cavities that extend inwardly through their side edge and have locking lugs inwardly of the cavities. Lock pins are provided between the wall elements for each cavity and are associated with the locking lugs for securely locking two wall elements together by moving the wall elements into edge-to-edge abutting relation. The cavities have a leveraging surface capable of pivoting the lock pins out of engagement with the locking lugs and thus disconnection of the wall elements upon relative vertical movement of adjacent wall elements. The invention is capable of assembling knock-down walled enclosures such as work spaces of substantially any size and shape.

  • Patent number: 5567220
Abstract: A carbonaceous material and a nitrogenous material are mixed in combination with activated carbon ash and perlite fines. The activated carbon and perlite fines serve to limit the loss of ammonia nitrates as well as to lock nitrogen in the biomass and to limit fly larva and odors. The nitrogenous material comprises fish scrap and the carbonaceous material may include wood sawdust, wood pulp or agricultural by-products. All of the ingredients of the product may comprise industrial waste products. The process is conducive to forming large batches of the process comprising depositing an elongated windrow on the ground and making a full length groove in the top surface. The activated carbon and perlite dust are then layered in the groove and the nitrogenous material deposited on the activated carbon and perlite dust. The ingredients are mixed under selected moisture and temperature conditions to form the end product.

  • Patent number: 5561940
Abstract: An annular body member is of a size capable of allowing an animal to move at least partially through it. A snare line with a running noose therein encircles the exterior surface of the body member and has an anchored end. A trigger is disposed laterally across the interior of the body member and is a flexible type netting which the animal engages when entering the trap. The trigger is positioned to dislodge the snare line when the animal enters the trap. The snare line has elastic characteristics and is capable of engaging and binding around an animal entering the body member to hold the snare line in place until its running noose is tightened by movement of the animal away from an anchored end of the running noose. The trap can be used below ground in a burrowing animal runway or it can comprise an above ground baited housing.

  • Patent number: 5551980
Abstract: An upright support member includes at least one laterally extending arm at the upper end thereof. This arm supports upright rails having adjustable hanger brackets thereon. The hanger brackets support door support plates capable of having doors to be treated mounted thereon by hinges whereby the door can be treated on both sides by hinged movement of the door. The door mounting plate can have screw holes that match hinge screw holes whereby to provide substitute hinges for supporting the doors thereon. By means of such structure, a process of painting a series of doors is available wherein the doors are disconnected from their hinges, the hinges being left on the cabinets. Door matching hinges are used and according to the system care does not have to be taken for painting the hinges.

  • Patent number: 5522177
Abstract: An upwardly extending post is welded at its lower end to a base ring and is inclined for holding a depending bar at an inner portion of the ring. The depending bar has a bottom horizontal foot plate that extends integrally therefrom. This foot plate carries a reinforcing wedge plate and a set pin. In attaching a tree to the holder, the wedge plate engages the tree trunk radially and the set pin engages the tree trunk at the bottom in laterally spaced relation from the wedge plate, thus providing a two point engagement that prevents twisting of the tree in the holder. A single cinching crank screw is mounted in an upper portion of the depending bar for penetrating the tree and pulling the tree tightly against the depending bar.
