  • Patent number: 6241054
Abstract: A disk brake includes a brake disk which is surrounded by a caliper carrying lining devices. On the side of the lining device facing a brake lining surface, the brake disk has a concave brake disk surface. In order to at least partially reduce the noise emitted occurring during slow-down braking, the concavity of the brake disk surface and the convexity of the brake lining surface are constructed such that a noise-reducing form closure occurs.

  • Patent number: 6237991
Abstract: A passenger compartment of a vehicle body has a protective device that protects the vehicle occupants in a side collision. The protective device being integrated into each vehicle door, each vehicle seat, and into the center console fastened to the body floor and including reinforcing elements extending transversely to the lengthwise axis of the compartment. Impact plates are located between the elements, all of which elements lie in a horizontal plane and abut one another by the impact plates in the event of a side collision. The protective device is configured so that as soon as the lateral deformation of the passenger compartment begins in a crash, the reinforcing elements form a continuous cross member for accepting the force.

Abstract: An extrudable flexible material profile (1), for marking electric leads, cables, hoses and other elongate objects (12). The profile comprises a center portion (4) oriented along the longitudinal axis of the profile. Locking means (3) extend in parallel with said longitudinal axis (13) at each side of the center portion (4) which by mutual coupling-up are making it possible for the profile to form a closed hollow section. The material thickness of the profile is dimensioned for flexibility in the center portion (4) and for rigidity in the lock means (3).

  • Patent number: 6238786
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for gloss coating articles or a portion of an article's surface and articles produced from this method. A corrosion-inhibiting polishing base coat is applied in a known fashion, after which a high-gloss layer produced by atomization, preferably magnetron atomization, is applied. Then, a transparent, wear-resistant top coat layer is applied in a known fashion. The articles can also be pretreated, if desired, and given a protective or other layers. By using this method, parts for vehicles, especially vehicle wheels, can be produced in a great variety of colors and with improved qualities.

  • Patent number: 6237736
Abstract: As a driven pulley for driving the rotary shaft of an alternator, a one-way clutch built-in type pulley is used. The fluctuation range of the angular velocity per rotation of the rotary shaft is set to be less than a half of the fluctuation range of the angular velocity per rotation of the driven pulley by setting restriction to the relation between the inertial moment with respect to this rotary shaft and the resistance against rotation of the rotary shaft, thereby suppressing a noise called squeal without enlarging a driving portion of an alternator or deteriorating the efficiency in electric power generation.

  • Patent number: 6240364
Abstract: A method and a device for providing traffic information for a given vehicle in a road network whereby, starting with a given starting location and starting time, current and forecast traffic data are determined at a traffic center and prepared in such fashion that they can be transmitted to a given vehicle. Traffic data present at the traffic center, which include at least the current and forecast functional values of a traffic-dependent cost function for the individual route paths, is used to calculate, as a function of the starting location and the starting time, a cost function optimized route to each route path. A corresponding arrival time is then determined to each route path. The cost function value that belongs to each determined arrival time is then selected. The cost function values thus selected are prepared, if necessary, with additional traffic data as traffic information that can be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 6240340
Abstract: A vehicle which includes a plurality of peripheral systems has a plurality of control units which transmit data to each other via a local area network, and which control the peripheral systems in response to sensor signals received from vehicle operating parameter sensors. A first control unit has a memory which stores a first interface software program which receives input signals from sensors and processes such signals for controlling at least one peripheral system of the vehicle, by means of an application software program and first and second interface software programs. A second control unit has a memory which stores an application software program for processing input signals for controlling at least one other peripheral system of the vehicle via a third interface software program. The second control unit receives input data from the first control unit via the local area network.

  • Patent number: 6239529
Abstract: The device of this invention is provided with a disc-shaped spring having an outer peripheral portion placed into contact with an outer race of a bearing and a tapered portion placed into contact with an end portion of a coil yoke, with the configuration being such that the coil yoke is wedged between a concavity 1d of the housing and the upper edge by the elastic force of the disc-shaped spring. It is therefore possible to fix the coil yoke within the housing without having to provide extra components such as a snap ring, which facilitates machining and assembly. In addition, the sealing effect can be increased by placing the disc-shaped spring into contact with the entire periphery of the outer race of the bearing, thus efficiently preventing the intrusion of impurities.

  • Patent number: 6237569
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, specially a diesel engine, comprising a crankcase and cylinder heads. Said system is provided with injectors to inject fuel into the combustion chambers of the internal combustion engine and a high pressure pump which supplies fuel to a common rail supplying fuel to the injectors via high pressure lines. According to the invention, the common rail is lodged in or on the walls of the crankcase. This arrangement of the common rail track and preferably also that of the fuel injectors and the high pressure lines in the housing of the internal combustion engine optimally protects the fuel injection system from external influence and damages while at the same time hermetically closing it from the outside by forming an internal leakage chamber.

  • Patent number: 6237317
Abstract: A condensing zone is arranged downstream of the main drafting area of a drafting assembly of a ring spinning machine, which condensing zone is defined on one side by a front roller pair of the drafting assembly and on the other side by a nipping roller which presses a drafted fiber strand against a supporting surface. The peripheral speed of the nipping roller is from 3% to 8% greater than the peripheral speed of the front roller pair. The fiber strand to be condensed obtains thus a lasting draft in the condensing zone.

  • Patent number: 6237176
Abstract: A substrate or sheet surface cleaning apparatus is provided with at least one tacky rubber roller and at least one adhesive tape roll which is brought into close contact with the tacky rubber roller. The roller and roll are rotatably supported at opposite ends of their shafts by bearings which are slidable in a vertical direction. Pressed rods are arranged integrally on the slidable bearings for the roll. By urging the pressed rods with pressing rods driven by d.c. motors via gear trains while controlling the d.c. motors by a position sensor, the pressure between the roll and the roller and the pressure between the roller and the substrate or sheet are optimized so that dirt or particles can be efficiently removed from an opposing surface of the substrate or sheet. Another substrate or sheet surface cleaning apparatus is provided two tacky rubber rollers arranged in an up-and-down parallel relationship and two adhesive tape rolls arranged above the upper roller and below the lower roller, respectively.
