  • Patent number: 4374907
Abstract: A gaseous hydrogen and oxygen combining and condensing device comprising an inverted cup-shaped casing having a partition dividing the casing into an upper, condensing chamber a lower, catalyst chamber and a heat conducting assembly for conducting heat from the condensing chamber. The catalyst chamber being partially filled with a catalyst assembly comprising at least one catalyst support coated with a porous matrix of polytetrafluoroethylene and exposed, partially platinized high surface area carbon particles dispersed throughout the porous matrix in the weight ratio of the order of 1.5:1 to of the order of 6:1 polytetrafluoroethylene to partially platinized high surface area carbon particles.

  • Patent number: 4373305
Abstract: An arch forming structure comprising a flexible arch forming member centerpiece with hinged pairs of struts attached by hinges to each side. The hinged pairs of struts are hingedly attached to a base and collapse inwardly beneath the flexible member. Two tension line lengths are used to snap the hinged pairs of struts from the collapsed condition through dead center to an outwardly sloping position from which further movement is prevented by their central hinge. Two further tension line lengths are jointed to central portions of the hinged pairs of strut members and threaded through eye bolts on the underside of the flexible member and are tensioned by outward movement of the hinged pairs of struts to bend the flexible member into an arch.

  • Patent number: 4229255
Abstract: A fuel bundle positioning and ejecting apparatus comprising two piston members, one slidable along a stem on the other piston member, and a compression spring urging the pistons apart, is secured in a horizontally extending fuel channel upstream of the coolant flow therealong. The downstream one of the piston members has a shield plug attached thereto and the piston members are urged together in a fuel channel with he compression spring compressed, by a series of fuel element bundles along the fuel channel. When the downstream end of the fuel channel is opened using a fuelling machine, with pressurized coolant therein and continued circulation of coolant along the fuel channel, the compression spring expands causing the piston members to become entrained in the coolant and urge the fuel element bundles out of the fuel channel and into the fuelling machine.

  • Patent number: 4177031
Abstract: An apparatus for casting tubular polymeric membranes for reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration which includes a plurality of upwardly extending casting tubes, a manifold with branch outlets for mounting the casting tubes to extend upwardly therefrom, a casting bob assembly comprising a centering sleeve with a screw threaded bore and cylindrical extension, a casting bob screwed into the centering sleeve and having casting solution outlet ports to an annular gap between the casting bob and the casting sleeve, the annular gap being adjustable by screwing the casting bob into and out of the centering sleeve, and a transport sleeve which is pressed on to the casting bob and the cylindrical extension of the centering sleeve for transporting the assembly from one casting tube to another between casting operations and a flexible sleeve and a hose clamp for releasably securing the transport sleeve in a lower end of each casting and sealing the lower ends of each casting tube to a branch outlet.

  • Patent number: 3981976
Abstract: A process for hydrogen isotope exchange and concentration between liquid water and hydrogen gas, wherein liquid water and hydrogen gas are contacted, in an exchange section, with one another and with at least one catalyst body comprising at least one metal selected from Group VIII of the Periodic Table and preferably a support therefor, the catalyst body has a liquid-water-repellent, gas permeable polymer or organic resin coating, preferably a fluorinated olefin polymer or silicone coating, so that the isotope concentration takes place by two simultaneously occurring steps, namely, ##EQU1## WHILE THE HYDROGEN GAS FED TO THE EXCHANGE SECTION IS DERIVED IN A REACTOR VESSEL FROM LIQUID WATER THAT HAS PASSED THROUGH THE EXCHANGE SECTION.
