  • Patent number: 7949647
Abstract: Search assistance is provided to users that submit search queries to search engines. In one implementation, a partial search query input by a user to a search engine is received. The partial search query is predicted to be a navigational query. A web address is selected based on the predicted navigational query. A search assistance list that includes the selected web address is generated. The search assistance list is displayed to the user in response to the received partial search query. In another implementation, a plurality of suggested search queries is determined for the received partial search query. A suggested search query of the plurality of suggested search queries having a highest relevance to the user is determined. A search assistance list is generated and displayed to the user. The suggested search query having the highest relevance to the user is prominently displayed in the search assistance list.

  • Patent number: 7906835
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for ball grid array land patterns are provided. A ball grid array land pattern includes a plurality of land pads and electrically conductive traces. The plurality of land pads is arranged in an array of rows and columns. A perimeter edge of the array includes a pair of adjacent oblong shaped land pads. An electrically conductive trace is routed between the pair of adjacent oblong shaped land pads from a land pad positioned in an interior of the array to a location external to the array. The oblong shaped land pads are narrower than standard round land pads, and thus provide more clearance for the routing of traces. The oblong shaped land pads enable more land pads of the land pattern array to be routed external to the array on each routing layer, and thus can save printed circuit board component and assembly costs.

  • Patent number: 7904047
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for filtering received radio frequency signals are provided. A first RF communication signal is received that includes a desired information signal portion and an undesired blocker signal portion that is offset in frequency from the desired portion. The first RF communication signal is amplified in a first signal path and is filtered in a second signal path. The filtering of the first RF communication signal in the second signal path includes: down-converting the first RF communication signal to a down-converted signal, high pass filtering the down-converted signal, and up-converting the high pass filtered down-converted signal to a second RF communication signal. The filtering of the first RF communication signal filters out the desired information signal portion from the second signal path. A signal phase is adjusted in the second signal path to match phase shifts between the first and second signal paths.

  • Patent number: 7892610
Abstract: Methods and systems for applying nanowires and electrical devices to surfaces are described. In a first aspect, at least one nanowire is provided proximate to an electrode pair. An electric field is generated by electrodes of the electrode pair to associate the at least one nanowire with the electrodes. The electrode pair is aligned with a region of the destination surface. The at least one nanowire is deposited from the electrode pair to the region. In another aspect, a plurality of electrical devices is provided proximate to an electrode pair. An electric field is generated by electrodes of the electrode pair to associate an electrical device of the plurality of electrical devices with the electrodes. The electrode pair is aligned with a region of the destination surface. The electrical device is deposited from the electrode pair to the region.

  • Patent number: 7893847
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for determining parking availability are described. A sensor system is configured to monitor a plurality of parking spaces. The sensor system includes at least one sensor element that generates a sensor data output signal. A parking availability determiner receives the sensor data output signal and generates parking availability information. The parking availability determiner is configured to determine from the received sensor data output signal at least one parking space of the plurality of parking spaces that is occupied, and to include an indication in the parking availability information that the determined at least one parking space is occupied. If one or more further parking space are included in the plurality of parking spaces other than the determined at least one parking space, an indication is included in the parking availability information that the further parking spaces are available for parking.

  • Patent number: 7895235
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for associating queries of a query log are provided. The query log lists a plurality of queries and a set of clicked URLs for each query. Each query is designated to be a node of a plurality of nodes. A plurality of edges is determined. A URL is designated to be an edge for a pair of queries if the URL is indicated as clicked in the sets of clicked URLs for both queries of the pair. The nodes and edges are displayed in a graph. Each edge may be displayed in the graph as a line connected between a pair of nodes that correspond to the pair of queries of the pair of nodes. The edges may be classified. Furthermore, the edges and/or the nodes may be weighted. Edges and/or nodes may be filtered from display based on their weights and/or on other criteria.

  • Patent number: 7895198
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for generating relevance functions for ranking documents obtained in searches are provided. One or more features to be used as predictor variables in the construction of a relevance function are determined. The relevance function is parameterized by one or more coefficients. A query error is defined that measures a difference between a relevance ranking generated by the relevance function and a training set relevance ranking based on a query and a set of scored documents associated with the query. The query error is a continuous function of the coefficients and aims at approximating errors measures commonly used in Information Retrieval. Values for the coefficients of the relevance function are determined that substantially minimize an objective function that depends on the defined query error.

  • Patent number: 7886165
Abstract: A system and method is described that allows a PoE-capable switch to selectively provide power to one or more remote devices in an instance where power being supplied to the switch itself is limited or failing. In one embodiment, the switch receives a notification from an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and, in response to receiving the notification, selectively provides power to one or more devices powered by the switch. Selectively providing power to one or more of the devices may include providing power to only a subset of the devices, providing a different amount of power to different ones of the devices, or providing power for different durations to different ones of the devices. In an alternate embodiment, in response to receiving the notification, the switch communicates with a remote device and causes the remote device to activate at least one power saving feature.

  • Patent number: 7872347
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for integrated circuit packages, and processes for forming the same, are provided. In one example, an integrated circuit (IC) package includes an integrated circuit die, a layer of insulating material, a redistribution interconnect on the layer of insulating material, and a ball interconnect. The integrated circuit die has a plurality of terminals on a first surface. The insulating material covers the first surface of the die and fills a space adjacent to one or more sides of the die. The redistribution interconnect has a first portion coupled to a terminal of the die through the first layer, and a second portion that extends away from the first portion over the insulating material filling the space adjacent to the die. The ball interconnect is coupled to the second portion of the redistribution interconnect.

  • Patent number: 7852882
Abstract: A system and method for discarding or inserting audio frames in a jitter buffer is described. The system and method provides improved audio quality as compared to conventional jitter buffer management systems. In one embodiment, buffer control logic determines whether to discard audio frames to be stored in a jitter buffer or to insert audio frames among audio frames to be output from a jitter buffer based not only on the number of audio frames currently stored in the jitter buffer but also based on the power of the current audio frame to be stored in or output from the jitter buffer. The system and method is generally applicable to any wireless or wired communication system in which audio signals are transmitted between entities operating in different clock domains.
