  • Patent number: 4295257
Abstract: A work stand specially designed for supporting and aligning the various components of a vertical turbine pump during assembly or disassembly. A plurality of support tables are mounted at longitudinally spaced positions along a stationary bed frame for independent powered vertical adjustment. Roller support cradles are carried by each table to supportingly engage the pump at longitudinally spaced positions to support the various parts of the pump in coaxially aligned relationship with each other. The cradles may be adjusted longitudinally of their tables, and a series of bores spaced longitudinally along the bed frame provide for the mounting of stationary clamp assemblies upon the bed frame between the tables. A powered elevating platform at one end of the bed provides a support for the discharge head of the pump, or alternatively a support, a support cradle, or stationary clamp.

  • Patent number: 4288000
Abstract: A tightly fitting lid for a pail or bucket has a dispensing opening for discharge of the material contained in the pail and a child-resistant closure for the opening. The lid and pail constitute a package for particulate material. The lid and pail have co-operating rib and recess for retaining the lid on the pail. The lid opening is provided by a short "wide-mouth" neck which is threaded to mate with threads on the closure. The lid and closure have at least one interengaging stop and lug, respectively, which prevent the closure from being unscrewed. The closure can be removed after it is radially deformed in order to disengage the lug from the stop. The diameter of the closure is such that the closure lug cannot be disengaged from the stop by a child of tender years whose hand is too small to span the closure. The lid also has a plurality of horizontally extending webs surrounding and spaced from the closure for supporting a superposed pail.

  • Patent number: 4288043
Abstract: A mechanism for dispensing a measuring tape into the wraps of a length of cloth that is being wound onto a mandrel has a carriage that is mounted for reciprocal movement along a guide extending transversely to the length of the cloth. The carriage has means for rotatably mounting two rolls of tape so that when one is exhausted the other quickly may be utilized and the first replaced while the second is being dispensed. The mechanism has a drive wheel which is driven by engagement with the cloth being wound, or a part of the cloth winding machine, for positively reciprocating the carriage so that the only tension of the measuring tape is that required to unwind the roll.

  • Patent number: 4287654
Abstract: A removable roof panel arrangement for motor vehicles and the method of installing such panels in which access openings to be covered by the panels are formed at opposite sides of the center of the vehicle body by completely cutting away a transverse section of the roof of the vehicle body and subsequently installing a central frame member which is attached to forward and rearward frame members through a reinforcing member. The construction retains the strength of the original body and the frame members form drainage troughs and support sealing members for engaging the removable panels which form secondary drainage systems to maintain the panels in weather tight relationship to the roof of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4284200
Abstract: A one-piece child-resistant dispensing closure for a container which has an open end. The closure has a skirt which mates with the end of the container and a top which spans the space defined by the skirt. Preferably there are two dispensing openings through the top, each of which is surrounded by an upwardly extending rim. The closure also comprises a lid for each opening and a hinge for each lid. The hinges and lids are integral parts of the closure. The lids have similar rims which fit around the rims on the closure top when the lids are swung over to close the dispensing openings. In the closed position, ribs on the edges of the pairs of opposed rims snap over each other and ears on the inner sides of the lids are closely spaced from a fulcrum on the closure top. The engagement of the ribs holds the lids closed. Pry means, such as a coin or blade, may be inserted between the fulcrum and a lid ear to pry the particular lid open.

  • Patent number: 4277066
Abstract: Game apparatus including a board and playing cards in which the board forms a grid of squares with the four sides of each square being identified by a different color and with the colors so arranged that the same color is not employed to identify contiguous sides of a square. Side marker elements are used to establish and define the sides of squares, as determined by the play of cards having corresponding colors. The establishment of the last or fourth side of any square establishes a score for the player making the play.

  • Patent number: 4273275
Abstract: The invention comprises an improved ring and swivel combination for attaching a toy such as a Yo-Yo or spinning top to the operator's finger. The ring includes a flexible strap for adjustable attachment to the finger. Preferably the strap comprises a portion of woven hooks and a complementary portion of woven loops such as that sold under the VELCRO trademark. The swivel comprises a cup attached to the strap and having a carefully formed hole in the cup bottom. The string attached to the toy passes through the hole and is knotted inside the cup. The knotted string and cup forms an effective swivel to prevent wind-up of the Yo-Yo or spinning top string. The toy accessory may be used to control model race cars and model airplanes by using a pair of toy accessories attached to two fingers to replace the conventional dual control handle. The swivels allow the operator to guide the model in a circular patch without turning around to prevent wind-up of the pair of guide lines.
