  • Patent number: 7330828
Abstract: A system and method for production of a printed product individualized for the customer, which offers the customer a selection of information content, depending on the variable payment (price) and the profile of interests thereof. Based on the price decision of the customer, a customer-specific relationship of optionally edited information content to customer-specific advertisement is generated. A dynamic matching of the profile of interests is carried out by feedback. The form of the printed product is determined by the selection of the information and the advertisements and the combination thereof according to the customer-specific relationship and profile of interests by means of an inventive layout.

  • Patent number: 6751654
Abstract: In a computer network such as the Internet including one or more servers and one or more user units or clients wherein at least some user units do not transmit client identification information such as Web cookies, a method and system for performing the method for a server to communicate with at least one of the client units, comprising the steps of: receiving an access request from one of the user units, the user unit including a network browser; determining whether the access request received originated from a cookies capable or cookies enabled network browser; and simulate and proxy cookies support at the server, on behalf of the network browser, at the server when it is determined that the access request received did not originate from a non-cookies capable or non-cookies enabled network browser.

  • Patent number: 6737886
Abstract: An output buffer for causing a voltage (Vout) of an integrated circuit output line (OUT,OUT_PAD) to switch from a voltage of a first voltage line (VDD) to a voltage of a second voltage line (GND) and vice versa, comprises a current path switch circuit (111a,111b) activatable for causing a prescribed current (Is) to constantly flow between the first and second voltage lines during a time between two successive switchings of the output line, and for causing the prescribed current to be deviated (Ic1) to the output line during at least an initial phase of an output line switching from the first voltage line voltage to the second voltage line voltage or vice versa. A current delivered by the first and second voltage lines is thus kept substantially constant in the output line switching. In this way, the time derivative of the current flowing between the first and the second voltage lines is kept small and low switching noise is induced.

  • Patent number: 6736853
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of utilizing body tissue by forming an implant that includes body tissue positioned in a cage. The cage is formed of material which expands when exposed to body fluid and the cage is positioned in a patient's body at a location where the cage is exposed to such body fluid so that the cage expands in the patients' body as the cage absorbs body fluid. The cage can be provided with openings extending substantially from a first end to a second end to allow tissue ingrowth. The body tissue can be heated or cooled and then shaped prior to placement in the cage. Also, the cage material can be biodegradable.

  • Patent number: 6685627
Abstract: Materials, devices and methods for the treatment of congestive heart failure are disclosed. In these methods, the volume of the left ventricle is reduced, thereby increasing the efficiency of the pumping action of the heart. Volume reduction is accomplished by introduction of biocompatible materials into the wall of the left ventricle, or into the ventricle itself. Suitable biocompatible materials include those that undergo a phase transition within the ventricle or within the wall of the ventricle, and are thereby converted from a substantially liquid state to a substantially solid state. Such materials also include those which increase in volume during the transition from the liquid state to the solid state. Also disclosed is a method for ventricular geometry reduction wherein flexible, elastic bands are attached to the external surface of the heart to effect a decrease in the volume of the left ventricle.

  • Patent number: 6652532
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of repairing tissue. In one embodiment, one portion of an implant, which is at least partially formed of a biodegradable material, is connected to another portion of the implant by applying heat to the implant. The implant is positioned relative to a patient's body tissue. In another embodiment, graft tissue is enclosed with a biodegradable enclosure having a number of openings. The graft tissue is positioned in the patient's body at a location that enables body tissue to grow through the openings in the enclosure.
