  • Patent number: 4213664
Abstract: An adapter shell and an intermediate shell internally contain an annular coil spring between an annular cam and a ring to effect radial contraction and compression of the spring into grounding contact with the braided layer of an electrical cable. Clearances are provided internally at one end of the intermediate member to define a line of sight to visually check the integrity of the grounding contact. A nut shell containing an annular seal closes the line of sight after the visual check has been made.

  • Patent number: 4197789
Abstract: A tray in tray container of corrugated board material is formed from a pair of pre-formed flat body blanks in a bi-level machine having vertically aligned upper and lower dies in which a mandrel reciprocates vertically. The inner body blanks and outer body blanks are stacked in feed hoppers adjacent the upper and lower dies, respectively, and individually stripped out of their respective hoppers into horizontally disposed positions over their respective dies, substantially simultaneously. The feed directions of the two hoppers are right angularly related to one another and glue stripes are applied to each of the body blanks during their transit from the hopper into the corresponding die.

  • Patent number: 4198188
Abstract: A load platform is hingedly connected at its forward edge to the lower ends of a laterally spaced pair of vertically elongate runner assemblies that are vertically movably mounted on a supporting framework. Upper ends of the runner assemblies are fitted with pivotally mounted retainer brackets foldable between horizontally rearwardly extending load restraining position and vertically folded position. Selectively actuable means are provided for effecting pivotal movement of the load platform between horizontally rearwardly extending load bearing position and vertically extending folded position to concurrently effect folding and unfolding movement of the pair of bracket retainers by direct or indirect contact with the rear edge of the platform.

  • Patent number: 4183295
Abstract: A refuse compactor having a packing blade hinged under the cover of a container and movable through an automatic refuse packing cycle involving initial downward extension of the blade through a packing stroke by atmospheric pressure and gravity, to effectively compact refuse within the container, and final upward return of the blade by air pressure to a normal retracted position against the underside of the cover each time the cover is locked in closed position. The compactor embodies a safety feature whereby the packing blade is securely latched in the retracted position and positively inactivated against extension through its packing stroke except when the compactor cover is locked in closed position.

  • Patent number: 4133338
Abstract: Redundant freeze protection having primary and secondary protection modes is provided for a solar heating system, such as a solar water heating system, of the kind whose normal operation involves circulation of a heat transport liquid through a solar collector and a solar energy storage tank to store solar thermal energy in the tank. The primary protection mode is triggered in response to the collector liquid temperature, T.sub.c, dropping to a selected freeze protection trigger level, T.sub.f, and involves termination of liquid circulation through and draining of liquid from the collector. The secondary or back up freeze protection mode occurs upon failure of the collector drainage means to drain the collector in the primary mode in response to the freeze protection trigger condition T.sub.c .ltoreq. T.sub.f and involves continued circulation of liquid through the collector and solar energy storage tank to warm the collector.

  • Patent number: 4133457
Abstract: A liquid dispenser bottle of a resiliently flexible material has a relatively thin, resiliently flexible septum of circular planform seated on and spanning the dispenser outlet, peripherally sealingly clamped in place by a dispenser nozzle cap. The septum has a 90.degree. butt cut slit formation defining at least one resiliently flexible valve flap integrally joined along a hinge line area to the septum proper for outward deflection of the flap by internal liquid pressure when the dispenser is squeezed. The septum is also formed with at least one tiny hole, preferably on or in the vicinity of the hinge line area to increase flexibility of the valve flap, to serve as a vent to greatly accellerate relaxation and normalization of the squeeze bottle wall.

  • Patent number: 4095554
Abstract: A fluid dispenser and a support shoe are mounted to bear on opposite sides of a box blank passing therebetween. A normally closed valve of a nozzle of the dispenser has means yieldably biasing the nozzle to a normal position to intercept a leading edge of a box blank to open the valve upon deflection of the nozzle. A predetermined longitudinally spaced-apart gap relationship of the nozzle and support shoe effects return of the nozzle to normal position and closing of the valve, in response to the nozzle biasing means, concurrently with a trailing edge of the box blank leaving the support shoe, to wipe the closed nozzle clean on a deflected trailing end portion of the box blank. Alternatively, the support shoe may be rockably mounted for movement to a retracted position providing clearance for deflection of the trailing end portion of the box blank by the nozzle biasing means.

  • Patent number: 4090737
Abstract: An improved wheel construction for agricultural apparatus, such as wheel-move irrigation pipe lines, has a hub and an annular rim joined by spokes releasably attached at their ends to the hub and rim in a manner such that the wheel may be knocked down or disassembled for storage and shipment and easily assembled at the point of use. The inner spoke ends are releasably joined to the hub by unique coupling structure which are engagable to firmly interlock the spokes to the hub and are releasable to separate spokes from the hub solely by relative movement of the spokes and hub between interlock and release positions.

  • Patent number: RE30509
Abstract: The cover of a refuse container, adapted to be sealed upon the container, is internally provided with a bellows having a pressure plate to bear against the material being compacted as the plate moves downwardly in the container in response to expansion of the bellows. The plate assembly and container define a collapsible chamber from which air is evacuated by a power means to reduce the internal pressure while air at atmospheric pressure expands the inside of the bellows. Automatic means to vent the evacuated collapsible chamber to atmosphere is provided in a control system that includes the power means to evacuate air. The container may be independent of the other elements of the invention and may be supported for translatory movement in and out of operative connection to the power means and cover whereby a plurality of containers may be employed with a single power system.
