Patent number: 8281917Abstract: Manufacture of electronic devices is usually accomplished through automated assembly lines using automated conveyors. These automated conveyors, typically comprising metallic components, cannot convey electronic devices into an RF chamber for testing (e.g., RF) during manufacture without compromising the efficacy of the shielding provided by the RF chamber. Thus, although electronic devices are assembled on automated assembly lines, a device is typically removed from the automated assembly line for testing, transported manually into an RF chamber, powered on, and then tested. After testing, the electronic device is powered down, manually removed from the RF chamber, and returned to the assembly line. Described herein are embodiments of a system and method to automatically transport electronic devices under power through an RF isolated chamber for testing (e.g., RF) as part of an automated assembly line process resulting in a dramatic increase in the number of electronic devices that can be tested.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2012Date of Patent: October 9, 2012Assignee: Paradigm Circuit Solutions Inc.Inventors: Neil D. Patent number: 8254420Abstract: Laser light wavelength control is provided by periodically predicting a next position of a light controlling prism using a model of the prism's motion characteristics. The prediction is then updated if a measurement of laser output wavelength is obtained. However, because the predictions are made without waiting for a measurement, they can be made more frequently than the laser firing repetition rate and the prism can be repositioned at discrete points in time which can occur more frequently than the laser firing events. This also reduces performance degradation which may be caused by being one pulse behind a laser measurement and the resultant laser control signal being applied.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2009Date of Patent: August 28, 2012Assignee: Cymer, Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 8209092Abstract: An optical sensing system detects pressure through attenuation of light in an optical fiber. The weight and position of a load on a mat including multiple optical fibers may be determined; for example, such a mat may be used in an automobile seat to determine theses parameters for a passenger in the seat. This information can be presented to an airbag deployment system to easily enable the airbag to be deployed or suppressed in a manner sensitive to the weight and position of the occupant. This methodology allows loads, load movement, and load position to be detected in vehicles. In applications for vehicles such as aircraft or boats, sensing weight, position and movement of cargo can warn an operator or pilot in sufficient time to correct dangerous shifts in weight within the cargo portion of the vehicle or to modify the operation of the vehicle to compensate for such shifts.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2007Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Inventor: Patricia Wiener

Patent number: 8197573Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for depositing agents relatively deep within pores of bio-char. Bio-char is first produced in an airtight oven by heating biomass feedstock. The bio-char is then cooled and steam is diffused into the pores of the bio-char. The steam-laden bio-char is immersed in a liquid bath containing soluble agents that are to be deposited in the pores of the bio-char. The liquid bath cools the char to below the condensation temperature of the steam, whereupon the condensing steam generates a partial vacuum within the pores, drawing the liquid into the pores. The bio-char is then removed from the liquid bath and dried so that the liquid within the pores evaporates, leaving behind the soluble agent. Accordingly, the invention yields bio-char that has soluble agent embedded relatively deep within its pores.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2008Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Greenpyro, Inc.Inventor: Gerald C. Patent number: 8131269Abstract: A hosted system receives a request for the delivery of a voice message from a collective such as a school district. The hosted system determines whether the message should be sent over a telephone line at the hosted system or the school district. Instructions are sent to a delivery mechanism at the determined location indicating how to prepare the message and the number to be called. In one embodiment, the instructions are in XML script form to reduce the bandwidth required. Having the hosted system determine the allocation of messages allows for both the efficient use and lower calling cost of any available capacity on telephone lines at a school district or other collective organization, as well as the larger capacity access to telephone lines of a hosted service for quick delivery of numerous or urgent messages.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2009Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Reliance Communications, Inc.Inventors: Howard A. Patent number: 8099311Abstract: A routing system and method efficiently routes tasks to users who are members of a large and geographically diverse workforce. Generally, limited information is known about each user's skills and behavioral factors. Based on a profile containing the known information about a user, task is efficiently allocated and routed to a user by matching attributes of the task to the profile using a neural network and a stochastic model. Feedback is collected by the routing system based on the user's handling of the task and on whether a solution provided by the user was accepted. Over time, as more feedback is collected, the profile and/or the neural network are refined which allows for more efficient routing of future tasks.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2008Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: CrowdEngineering, Inc.Inventors: Gioacchino La Vecchia, Alberto Colombo, Massimo Piccioni

Patent number: 8005488Abstract: A system and method are provided for improving efficiency of operation and convenience of access to a fleet of taxis, or other service vehicles, requiring rapid, on-demand dispatch to customer-determined locations. Automatic speech recognition (ASR) and/or radiolocation technology are used to automate the entry of the customer pickup location, and optionally the dropoff location and other relevant information as well. A customer speaks the pickup location into a cellular telephone which then digitizes and transmits it as a data communication to an ASR system. The ASR system decodes the digitized utterance into a pickup location which is passed to a vehicle matching and dispatch system. The vehicle matching and dispatch system matches a taxi and dispatches it to the pickup location. In one embodiment, the identified pickup location is transmitted to the customer's cellular telephone for confirmation or correction, before dispatch of the requested taxi.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2008Date of Patent: August 23, 2011Assignee: Promptu Systems CorporationInventors: Giuseppe Staffaroni, Matteo Monteverdi, John A. Patent number: 7961934Abstract: A system for obtaining a probable 3D map of an occluded surface of an object is provided. The system receives an initial 3D map of a visible surface of the object and identifies one or more symmetries of the initial 3D map. The system computes the probable 3D map of the occluded surface by projecting points of the initial 3D map into occluded regions of space according to the identified symmetries. The system can also comprise an imager for obtaining the initial 3D map. The actual occluded surface cannot be known with absolute certainly because it is occluded; however, the computed 3D map will closely resemble the actual occluded surface in many instances because most objects possess one or more symmetries and the computed 3D map is based on such symmetries that are identified in the initial 3D map of the object.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2004Date of Patent: June 14, 2011Assignee: Strider Labs, Inc.Inventors: Sebastian Thrun, Eliot Leonard Wegbreit
