  • Patent number: 4192006
Abstract: A portable travel expense tabulator having the appearance of a conventional electronic hand-held calculator has a keyboard including a set of numerical input keys and a set of expense designating input keys. The device also includes a paper tape supply and takeup and a print-out device. By pressing appropriate numerical keys and an expense key, one can print on the tape the symbol for the type of expense along with the dollar amount. A summation of the expenses is carried in an electronic memory. Additional inputs include an exchange rate designator which can be preset at a monetary exchange rate. Local currencies are keyed in by the numerical keys and are converted to dollars before print-out. Also, mileage expenses may be computed and printed by mileage and cents-per-mile inputs. Dates may also be printed on the tape by means of the keyboard input.

  • Patent number: 4175864
Abstract: In a spectrometer, an internal reflectance crystal having opposed internally reflecting surfaces extending between light-entrance and light-exit end surfaces is illuminated by a light source through a slit. The beam of light from the slit is reflected from a spherical mirror illuminated off-axis to form first and second astigmatic images of the slit. The tangential image, having a distorted (elongated or extended) height, is formed at the entrance surface of the internal reflectance crystal. The width of the tangential image matches the width of the entrance surface. The sagittal image is formed at the exit surface of the internal reflectance crystal. The width of the sagittal image, which would be distorted (extended) absent the internal reflectance crystal, is limited by the internally reflecting surfaces of the crystal. Thus, there is substantially no loss of radiant energy through the length of the crystal.

  • Patent number: 4168136
Abstract: A continuous ribbon of moldable material is fed from a plasticizing mill through a stamping section of a molding machine and is returned to the mill as mill stock. The ribbon of moldable material is carried through the stamping section by an endless chain conveyor having prongs spaced therealong. The prongs are pressed into the ribbon as it is drawn from the plasticizing mill. Then, the ribbon is supported by trays as it is drawn along a feed path through the stamping section. The prongs are pulled from the ribbon once the ribbon has been directed by the conveyor back toward the plasticizing mill.At the stamping section, bites are taken from the edge of the ribbon by a die to provide blanks of molding stock to the molding machine. The ribbon is guided by edge guides along a transversely movable supporting tray. The chain conveyor rides in a trough adjacent the tray. By moving the tray and trough away from the stamping die, the mill may be operated continuously even with the mold shut down.

  • Patent number: 4114291
Abstract: A table for use in teaching children, particularly those with learning disabilities. The table includes a translucent top upon which a paper worksheet can be placed. An optical projector is mounted below the table top to direct an image onto the translucent table top. The image is seen through the paper worksheet and may be followed or traced by the child to develop psychomotor brain patterns.

  • Patent number: 4111390
Abstract: An improved arrangement for orientating an apparatus which is adapted to transmit, receive or relay electromagnetic or acoustical energy is described. The apparatus includes a housing and a housing positioning means and a housing mounting means are provided for mounting the housing to a support body. The housing includes a housing member having an elongated surface which is adapted to be positioned adjacent a surface of the support body. The housing surface has a cross-section configuration for providing a first plurality of alternative orientations for the apparatus while the housing positioning means is adapted to be located between, and in contact with, the housing member surface and the support body and to cooperate with the housing member surface to provide a second plurality of alternative apparatus orientations.
