  • Patent number: 6201905
Abstract: An optical switch of the push button type for producing a variable control signal which is proportional to the position of the push button includes a housing, having a first interior wall and a second interior wall, and a push button which extends into the interior of the housing from the exterior thereof. The push button includes a body portion disposed within the housing for movement though each of a plurality of positions, whereby changes in the position of the push button cause proportional changes in an output voltage produced by the switch. A stationary light shield is fixedly disposed within the housing between the body portion of the push button and the first interior wall of the housing, where the shield also includes a plurality of apertures. Light emitting means are disposed within the housing and between the stationary light shield and the first interior wall. Light responsive means are fixedly disposed between the stationary light shield and the body portion of the push button.

  • Patent number: 5772205
Abstract: A system for determining switch condition in an amusement device having at least one triggering switch is provided. The system comprises a first circuit for generating a first reference electrical signal, a second circuit linked to the at least one triggering switch for generating a first condition electrical signal, and a comparing circuit connected to the first circuit and the second circuit for comparing the first condition electrical signal to the first reference electrical signal and for generating an output electrical signal indicative of said switch condition based upon the comparison. Specifically, the output electrical signal will indicate if the switch is open, if the switch is closed, if the switch is electrically connected (wiring intact), or if the switch is electrically disconnected (wiring broken).

  • Patent number: 5710532
Abstract: A solenoid having a controlled rate of motion is provided. The solenoid includes a housing having a channel disposed therein, a coil disposed around the channel for providing an electromagnetic force in response to a current being supplied therethrough, and a plunger disposed within the channel and movable between a first position and a second position in response to the presence or absence of the electromagnetic force. A dampener is linked to the plunger which creates an atmospheric pressure differential as the plunger moves to one or both of the first position or the second position which pressure differential acts to slow the rate of movement of the plunger.

  • Patent number: 5686891
Abstract: A system for locating an object. The system includes an electronic device, a wireless transmitter for outputting a transmitted signal, and a receiver wherein one of the receiver or the transmitter is mounted within the electronic device and the other is positioned remote therefrom. The receiver comprises a wake up timer circuit for periodically generating a wake up signal, a wireless signal receiver being activated by the receipt of the wake up signal from the wake up timer circuit for generating a detect signal when the wireless signal receiver circuit receives the transmitted signal from the transmitter; and an audible signal generator circuit for generating an audible signal upon receipt of the detect signal from the wireless signal receiver circuit. The wake up timer circuit and the wireless signal receiver circuit are disabled when the audible signal generator circuit generates the audible signal.

  • Patent number: 5614906
Abstract: A method for selecting a command set from a group of command sets stored in the remote control. Each remote control command set includes a set of commands for operating at least one of various remotely controllable devices. A command, whose effect is observable in the remotely controlled device is assigned to one of the user actuated keys. The keys are pressed one by one until the user observes the desired effect on the remotely controlled device. The user then signals the remote control to exit the select procedure with the remote control setting the remote control to transmit future commands from the command set including the last transmitted effects observable command having the observed desired effect.
