  • Patent number: 8336492
Abstract: An improved animal feed dispenser is provided having a slow speed paddle wheel and a high speed distributor wheel. The high speed distributor wheel transports feed out of an opening in the device to spread it on the ground. The slow speed paddle wheel moves feed at a measured rate from a storage hopper and feeds it to the distributor wheel. A detachable mounting plate is used to attach the dispenser to a storage hopper, and is releasable therefrom without emptying the hopper of feed. The slow speed paddle wheel is formed from a material flexible enough to prevent feed jams caused by water absorption of the feed and other events.

  • Patent number: 8297940
Abstract: A downhole pumping assembly has a tubing string with plural barrels which are arranged in-line with the tubing. The tubing string has a seating location adjacent to each barrel. A standing valve arrangement, which includes a standing valve and a seating device, is located with the standing valve adjacent to the lower end of one of the barrels. A plunger has a traveling valve that is located for reciprocation within the one barrel. The plunger has a clearance with each of the barrels so as to form a fluid seal. The plunger reciprocates inside the barrel so as to lift fluid to the surface. Over time, the barrel will exhibit wear. Instead of pulling the entire tubing string to replace the barrel, the standing valve and the plunger are relocated to one of the other barrels located in the tubing string and reciprocation is resumed to resume pumping.

  • Patent number: 8262592
Abstract: An inexpensive and disposable dispenser has few parts. The dispenser has a housing with a reservoir of fluid therein. The housing has a valve seat and a valve. The valve is biased in a closed position by resilient spring arms. Each spring arm has a fixed end coupled to the housing and a free end that contacts a rounded or inclined surface of the valve in a location that is offset from a centerline of movement. As the valve moves to an open position, the spring arms flex with the free ends moving apart. When the spring arms straighten and the free ends move closer to each other, the valve is moved to the closed position. The dispenser can be manipulated by a hand or by a massager. A massager imparts vibrations to the valve by way of the housing and the spring arm. The dispenser can be used to work the fluid into an object such as human skin.

  • Patent number: 8180504
Abstract: A system for use in monitoring, measuring, computing and displaying the rate of compression of aircraft landing gear struts, experienced while aircraft are executing either normal or hard landing events. Further by measuring the vertical compression rate of the landing gear strut, thus with aircraft hull angle correction to horizontal, determining the vertical sink-rate of the aircraft, as it comes into initial contact with the ground. Accelerometers are attached to opposing sides of a compressible landing gear strut, monitoring and measuring parallel data streams; then identifying differential acceleration data streams, which computed through mathematical algorithms measure the collapse rate of the landing gear strut. Pressure sensors are attached to the working pressure within the landing gear strut, so to monitor in-flight landing gear strut pre-charge pressure, until such time as the pre-charge pressure suddenly increases, to detect the aircraft has come into initial contact with the ground.

  • Patent number: 8131144
Abstract: The action camera has a housing, a lens, and an image sensor located in a light path from the lens. A filter is operable to move between first and second positions, with the first position located in the light path and the second position located out of the light path. An actuator moves the filter between the first and second positions. The actuator includes an electromagnet and a magnet. One of the electromagnet and the magnet is fixed relative to the light path, while the other of the electromagnet and the magnet is movable relative to the light path and is coupled to the filter. The magnet has poles that interact with the poles of the electromagnet. As the electromagnet is energized, the magnet rotates. The polarity of the electromagnet is reversed in order to reverse the rotation of the magnet. The camera is also provided with a light source. When the light source is activated, then the filter is moved accordingly. The actuator is small and consumes little electrical power.

  • Patent number: 8125097
Abstract: A power generator has a mass that is capable of moving vertically up and down. A generator has a rotor and a stator. A shaft couples the mass to the rotor, with the shaft allowing the mass to move vertically up and down. The shaft has spirals that produce relative rotation between the shaft and the rotor. The mass can float on a body of water that is subject to fluctuating water levels, such as a tidal body or a lock, or the mass can be used on dry land. The mass has an interior cavity. When the cavity contains gas, the mass rises in the water. When the cavity contains water, the mass sinks in the water. When the mass has sunk, gas is introduced into the cavity. When the mass has risen, the gas is vented from the cavity.
