  • Patent number: 5163206
Abstract: A device for arresting the fall of a hand-held implement, such as hair shears, in case the operator drops them accidentally, comprises a finger ring, a short flexible connector attached to the finger ring, and a spring ring or sister hook attached to the free end of the connector for attachment to the hand-held implement. The short arrested fall prevents possible bodily injury, and avoids damage to the shears because they cannot fall on the floor.

  • Patent number: 5066302
Abstract: A one-piece prosthesis for use by a woman who has undergone a mastectomy, the prosthesis comprising the form of a complete breast, without voids therein, and with a supplement extending toward the axilla, and a supplement extending toward the clavicle, each supplement designed to fill a void left by surgery, and further having a band below the breast to underlie the lower band of brassiere, said supplements and band being tapered to a fine edge of avoid the appearance of demarcation lines. The prosthesis is molded of silicone which may contain dye to match skin coloration, and approximates the size, shape, density, resilience and pliability of the natural breast in various chest and cup sizes.

  • Patent number: 5061150
Abstract: An apparatus for single-handed operation in skidding logs, stumps, poles and the like. An A-frame with rearwardly-extending beam is attached to the three-point hitch of a tractor. A fluid-operated grapple, which will inherently adjust to various shapes and sizes of objects, is suspended from the rearward end of the beam. A chain, having a small amount of slack, is connected by its ends to the grapple tongs, and is rove around sleeved bolts near the draft arm attachment points. When the object to be skidded is grappled and lifted, the operator moves the tractor in the desired direction, and the chain immediately takes the towing load.

  • Patent number: 5016899
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing or eliminating rearward amplification of yaw in commercial multi-trailer highway combinations by maintaining constant tension on a cable-and-pulley system connecting a towed trailer with a towing trailer, and offering constant resistance to motion of the cable through the pulleys when the towed vehicle begins to yaw with respect to the towing vehicle. The cable is wrapped around a drum having a vertical axis of rotation. Cable tension is maintained by an air spring which slides the drum in a fore-and-aft direction. Resistance to movement of the cable connecting the vehicles is achieved by controlling rotation of the drum by means of a pneumatic brake.

  • Patent number: 4945580
Abstract: A buoyant outlet closure, or `flapper` in the preferred embodiment, is vented at a selectively predetermined time in the water closet flushing cycle, causing the flapper to become non-buoyant and to drop and to close the tank outlet, effecting a premature termination of the flushing cycle, and saving the volume of water remaining in the tank. The venting is controlled by turning the externally mounted operating handle in one direction. When the operating handle is turned in the opposite direction, essentially all the water is discharged from the tank, effecting a full flush cycle.

  • Patent number: 4913389
Abstract: A one-piece holder for shooting targets, archery targets, yard signs and the like has a first crossbar with a clip at each end having a toothed notch into which the target or sign suitable for the named purposes may be inserted. The first crossbar is supported by an upright which has a second crossbar at its lower end with earth-penetrating prongs extending downward therefrom, enabling the user to press the prongs into the ground with his foot, so as to support the holder and, therefore, the target or sign, vertically.

  • Patent number: 4905953
Abstract: An apparatus for limiting the side sway, or yaw, of fifth wheel recreational trailers when such trailers are parked without being attached to the towing vehicle. Such trailers have a steel housing projecting downward below the front, or cantilevered end. This invention includes two steel tubes, each tube having a pipe tee at one end. One tube is placed on each side of the housing with the teed end in the right angle formed by the housing and the trailer body. The bare end of each tube is supported on a separate baseplate. Each baseplate has a knob projecting upwards. The knob fits partway into the tube, and allows the tube on each side of the trailer to adopt a proper supportive position, almost regardless of the unevenness of the ground. The tubes are connected by a chain which is made and kept taut by a turnbuckle.
