  • Patent number: 6448983
Abstract: A method for assisting a user in selecting a design of experiment. The method includes obtaining a plurality of attributes associated with a plurality of experimental designs. A series of questions is presented to the user directed to objectives of the design of experiment. The user responds to the questions and one or more user-selected attributes are determined in response to the user's answers to the questions. The process selects or de-selects one or more of the experimental designs in response to the user-selected attributes and notifies the user of the selected experimental designs.

  • Patent number: 6445268
Abstract: An instantaneous trip power transformer includes a high current main outer winding wound to have one or more turns, for providing the main breaker contact current path and for serving as the transformer primary winding for providing power to the breaker electronic components. The transformer includes a secondary winding configured to provide power to trip circuit electronic components. The secondary winding is wound in a substantially cylindrical shape and has a bore therethrough. The main outer winding is wound around an outer surface of the secondary winding. The secondary winding supplies power to the trip circuitry. A third, or trip, winding is located within the secondary winding bore, and is configured to trip the breaker under electronic control by the trip circuitry. The third winding is wound in a substantially cylindrical shape and is energized by the trip circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6434441
Abstract: A method for designing, and optionally making, an article of manufacture. Customer requirement parameters are defined and related engineering parameters are chosen. A parametric geometrical representation (i.e., a master model) of the article is created in terms of geometric parameters using a computer program. A design analysis methodology is crated and programmed into a computer code and stored on a computer medium such that the engineering parameters and the customer requirement parameters are program inputs and the geometric parameters of the master model are program outputs. Specific values of the inputs are inputted into the computer code. The computer code is run on a digital computer and specific values of the geometric parameters of the master model are outputted.

  • Patent number: 6393098
Abstract: A system for correcting exposure signals generated by a matrix-addressed x-ray imaging panel by compensating for amplifier offset and gain artifacts in integrating read-out amplifiers connected to a matrix-addressed array of photosensors in an imaging panel. An average amplifier offset is calculated in a sequence of operations tinder control of a scan line controller and is applied to the exposure signals during normal operation of the imaging panel. A base gain calibration image is obtained periodically and is updated on a real-time basis by a real-time gain determined optionally whenever exposure signals are generated during normal operation of the imaging panel. The resulting real-time adjusted gain calibration image is divided into the amplifier offset adjusted exposure signals on a pixel-by-pixel basis to yield an exposure signal compensated for offset and gain on a real-time basis.

  • Patent number: 6369535
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for shaping current in an electronically commutated motor (ECM), the method comprising: acquiring a set of terminal voltage measurements; estimating an instantaneous rotor angle from the terminal voltage measurements; generating a set of phase current commands from the instantaneous rotor angle and from a torque reference signal, each of the phase current commands comprising at least one ripple compensation command segment and at least one zero current command segment; and converting the set of phase current commands to a set of current reference signals.
