Patent number: 6164317Abstract: A cover assembly for a sewer vent pipe having a dome-shaped cap member with a plurality of brackets affixed to the inner surface thereof and extending to surfaces in a common plane for supporting the cap upon the open, upper end of the sewer pipe. A circular support plate is fixedly attached to the surfaces of the brackets and has a central opening for loose passage of a screw a first plurality of additional openings having centers lying on a circle concentrically surrounding the central opening, and a second plurality of additional openings. The screw is threadedly engaged with a tapped opening in a spreader plate. A plurality of lock arms extend through corresponding ones of said first plurality of additional openings. Each lock arm has an edge engaged in a notch in the periphery of the spreader plate, inhibiting rotation thereof.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2000Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Inventor: Robert Hanson

Patent number: 6158127Abstract: A folding knife of the type wherein the blade may be moved between open and closed positions with the hand holding the knife. A blade is connected by a fixed pivot pin to a casing having the usual two handle or cover pieces providing a casing with a space for receiving the blade in the closed position. A substantially V-shaped slot extends through one of the cover pieces in close proximity and partially surrounding relation to the pivot pin. In addition to a circular opening for the pivot pin, the blade tang includes a linearly elongated, through slot communicating at one end with the circular opening. An actuating member, having integral head and stem portions, extends through the V-shaped slot in the cover piece and slidingly engages the slot in the blade tang, and into a blind V-slot in the inwardly facing surface of the other cover piece.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1999Date of Patent: December 12, 2000Assignee: Camillus Cutlery Co.Inventor: William J. Patent number: 6143980Abstract: An assembly for clamping and retaining a cable in attached relation to a utility pole. The assembly generally includes a block portion and clamping member pivotally and slidably connected thereto. The block member includes a rear end having a bored hole formed therein, a recessed portion formed in its upwardly facing surface, and a pair of spaced apart tongues vertically spaced from the recessed portion. The clamping member includes a body portion and a pair of spaced apart forks extending downwardly therefrom which are movable between engaged and disengaged relation to the recessed portion. A pivot pin passes through the body of the clamping member and the tongues of the block member. The hole formed through the clamping member's body is oval in shape so as to permit not only pivotal movement thereof with respect to the block member, but also sliding movement. The forks and tongues are shaped so as to receive and clamp a cable thereinbetween.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Inventor: Douglas Blanding

Patent number: 6138725Abstract: A two piece improved stump grinding tooth comprising a one piece cutting tooth having a hardened cutting bit, preferably made of tungsten carbide, or another material having hardness properties similar thereto, fixedly attached to the body portion of the tooth through brazing or other attachment process. The tooth body and tip are positioned at predetermined angles to improve the cutting characteristics of the tooth as it engages and removes material from a stump, and are held in the proper cutting position on the grinding wheel by a pair of mounting blocks through which the tooth body is secured to the grinding wheel.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1999Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Leonardi Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Joseph A. Patent number: 6141418Abstract: A housing for a telephonic electronic component, such as a telephone headset amplifier, adapted to be positioned in supporting relation beneath a standard, desktop telephone. The housing generally includes a base unit that sits flush on a desktop, and an upper unit that is positioned in covering relation to the base unit, with an enclosed cavity being defined between the base and upper units. The upper unit includes an inclined, upwardly facing surface on which a telephone may be positioned, and a control panel extending across the entire width of the unit's leading edge. The control panel extends upwardly and outwardly from the upwardly facing surface, thereby defining a lip across the interface between the surface and control panel. The lip serves as an abutment which prevents the telephone from sliding off of the unit.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1998Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Smith Corona Corp.Inventors: Isaac Weiser, Margaret Weiser

Patent number: 6128135Abstract: A system utilizing a series of three mirrors for purposes of collecting, concentrating, collimating and distributing radiant flux, such as sunlight or moonlight. The system generally includes a first parabolic reflector having a hole formed centrally therethrough, a second parabolic reflector slightly smaller in diameter than the hole formed through the first reflector and attached in spaced relation thereto, such that the two reflectors share a common optical axis, and a third, planar reflector. A structural framework supports the three reflectors and includes a light pipe, or other light distributing channel, through which the collected light is sent. First and second motors actuate gear assemblies attached to the framework to cause the reflectors to track both the elevation and azimuth angles, respectively, of the sun and/or moon.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1998Date of Patent: October 3, 2000Assignee: Synertech Systems CorporationInventors: Michael R. Patent number: 6095694Abstract: Apparatus for frictionally engaging and supporting a cylindrical, fiber optic component such as an axial ferrule is provided with the capability of releasably locking the component in the apparatus, thereby permitting coupling of the component for extended periods of time without degradation of light transmission. The apparatus includes a cylindrical, split spring bushing positioned in a cavity defined by a two-part housing and a set screw in a threaded bore extending radially through overlapped portions of both housing parts. The screw is advanced into contact with the bushing to apply inwardly radial pressure thereto, increasing the frictional engagement of the bushing with the component to essentially lock the component in the apparatus. In a preferred method of fabrication and use of the apparatus, the two housing parts are placed in fully assembled condition, without the bushing, and a radial bore is formed through the overlapped portions.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1998Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: Nuvisions International, Inc.Inventors: Paul Chudoba, Jerome Polizzi

Patent number: 6089379Abstract: An endless belt for supporting a continuous web of filter media and moving it through liquid filtration apparatus where a pressure differential is applied across the belt and media. The belt may be fabricated at relatively low cost while retaining the required tensile strength. The belt is formed from a plurality of unique, unitary portions termed "hinge members" which are arranged in longitudinal columns and lateral rows, a plurality of links between each pair of laterally adjacent hinge members and connecting rods extending the full width of the belt through aligned openings in looped portions of the hinge members and openings in the links. The hinge members are preferably formed from a continuous strip of sheet metal by stamping and bending operations, with the links providing added tensile strength.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1998Date of Patent: July 18, 2000Assignee: Filter Tech, Inc.Inventor: Ahmad El Hindi

Patent number: 6070329Abstract: A knife handle formed of two diverse materials includes a frame of rigid, thermosetting plastic having external surfaces and an elongated, internal cavity. A somewhat rubbery, resilient material covers portions of both the external surfaces and the cavity walls of the frame. The cavity is open at the distal end of the handle and is of substantially rectangular cross section. The resilient material covers all four walls of the cavity from the open end for a portion of its length, and covers only the two longer sides within the main body of the frame. A tang extending integrally from the knife blade is inserted into the cavity, contacting only the resilient material, with interference fit, within the cavity. Assembly is completed by inserting a rivet through aligned openings in the tang and handle, the handle openings being entirely surrounded by the resilient material.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1997Date of Patent: June 6, 2000Assignee: Camillus Cutlery Co.Inventor: Philip Gibbs
