Abstract: The present invention relates to a substantially dry, disposable, personal cleansing product useful for both cleansing and conditioning the skin or hair. These products are used by the consumer by wetting the dry product with water. The product comprises of a water insoluble substrate, a lathering surfactant, and a conditioning emulsion. The invention also encompasses methods for cleansing and conditioning the skin or hair using these products and to methods for manufacturing these products.

Abstract: The present invention relates to leave on, skin care compositions, comprising: (A) from about 0.001% to about 20% of an active ingredient, (B) from about 1% to about 20% of a stable, hydrophobic, structuring agent selected from the group consisting of saturated C.sub.16 to C.sub.30 fatty alcohols, saturated C.sub.16 to C.sub.30 fatty alcohols containing from about 1 to about 5 moles of ethylene oxide, saturated C.sub.16 to C.sub.30 diols, saturated C.sub.16 to C.sub.30 monoglycerol ethers, saturated C.sub.16 to C.sub.30 hydroxy fatty acids, and mixtures thereof, having a melting point of at least about 45.degree. C.; and (C) from about 0.05% to about 10% of a hydrophilic surfactant selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants, cationic surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants, and mixtures thereof, and (D) from about 25% to about 98.949% water. These compositions are useful for delivering a wide variety of active ingredients to the skin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to solid cosmetic compositions comprising 0.1-10 wt % of a spherical silica having an average particle size of 3-16 .mu.m wherein said spherical silica is adsorped with moisturizing agent. Such composition can suppress oil shining without affecting natural finished appearance and have a moisturizing effect in a non-aqueous composition.

Abstract: A stable lip compositions which resists transfer upon subjecting the wearer to routine or daily activities. The compositions are in the form of a lipstick, contain a sufficiently high level of silicone oils to impart good feel upon application wherein, sticks are additionally formulated to resist breakage even when exposed to the rigors of manufacture, retail sale, and daily use by the consumer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to personal cleansing bar compositions comprising:A. from about 1 parts to about 70 parts by bar weight of a mild synthetic surfactant selected from the group consisting of sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium topped cocoyl isethionate, essentially saturated C.sub.15 -C.sub.22 alkyl sulfate, essentially saturated C.sub.15 -C.sub.22 alkyl sarcosinate, essentially saturated C.sub.15 -C.sub.22 alkyl glyceryl ether sulfonate, and mixtures thereof;B. from about 0.01 parts to about 1 parts by bar weight of a nonionic polymer;wherein the nonionic polymer is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR1## wherein x is 2; and n has an average value of from about 2,000 to about 115,000 and wherein the pH is from about 4 to about 9. These bar compositions provide enhanced clinical mildness to the skin while maintaining good lathering, increased lather lubricity and lather creaminess.

Abstract: A personal cleansing composition comprising: (a) from about 1% to about 30% by weight of a dispersed oil phase comprising a first oil component having an oil/surfactant solution interfacial tension (IFT) of greater than about 1.0 dynes/cm and a second oil component having an oil/surfactant solution interfacial tension (IFT) in the range of from about 0.1 to about 1.0 dynes/cm; and (b) from about 5% to about 30% by weight of water-soluble surfactant selected from anionic, nonionic, zwitterionic and amphoteric surfactants and mixtures thereof; and (c) water; and wherein the ratio of first to second dispersed oil component is in the range from about 20:1 to about 1:20. The cleansing products demonstrate excellent in-use efficacy benefits including excellent skin feel during and after use, good lather volume, stability and appearance characteristics, good skin conditioning, mildness, stability, cleansing, good water feel and appearance.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for removing make-up from human skin comprising applying a cleansing composition comprising a lathering surfactant and water, wherein the pH of the composition is less than about 8.3 and wherein the interfacial tension of the composition with mineral oil is less than about 3.5.

Abstract: A system for cleansing the skin comprises a hydrophobic diamond-mesh sponge and a liquid cleansing and moisturizing composition with excellent lather in the same washing and rinsing operation. The system provides improved lather and overall acceptability for mild liquid cleansing compositions which contain moisturizers and especially for those which would otherwise have marginal lather.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions suitable for use as sunscreens which have improved storage stability and improved retention of UV absorbance capability. Methods of using the compositions are also disclosed. The encapsulated lipophilic skin moisturizing agent comprises a lipophilic skin moisturizing agent encapsulated within a complex coascervate comprising a polycation and a polyanion. The lipophilic skin moisturizing agent comprises droplets having a particle size distribution such that at least about 10% by weight of the droplets have a diameter of at least about 100 microns. The encapsulated lipophilic skin moisturizing agent is essentially free of cross-linking agent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to personal care compositions comprising a copolymer complex and a volatile, hydrophobic solvent component for solubilizing or dispersing the copolymer complex. The copolymer complex is formed by complexing a fatty amine with a copolymer, wherein the copolymer comprises a hydrophobic monomer, a hydrophilic monomer such that at least 1%, by weight of the total copolymer, comprises hydrophilic monomers bearing acidic functional groups and, optionally, a hydrophobic macromonomer.
