  • Patent number: 4589385
Abstract: My invention relates to an emergency air jump system for use with motor vehicles having an internal combustion engine that is started by an air type starter. This type of engine is usually started, when on the road, by means of air from an air tank charged from an air compressor actuated by the engine when running. When the air from the tank is depleted a stopped engine cannot be started without outside air. My air jump system provides a means of recharging or re-pressurizing the air tank by utilizing the existing air from a tire normally used or carried by the vehicle, thereby obviating the need for road service. The jump start air line has a coupling adapted to be sealingly connected to the existing outside accessible coupling to the air starter tank, an air line connected to the jump coupling at one end and connected to a female air chuck at the other end.

  • Patent number: 4586585
Abstract: My invention relates to an extensible stairway capable of being shipped in a knockdown condition and erected with a minimum of labor and without special tools. The stairway has a pair of stair step stringer assemblies each stringer assembly having a pair of telescoping channels nesting slidably together that can be extended to a required height. The vertical load bearing side walls of said channels are provided with a series of registering groups of equally step spaced in-line bores arranged to lie in a substantially horizontal line when the stringer channels are placed in stair inclined position. A plurality of stair step assemblies having tread supports are adapted to be swivably mounted and clamped to said groups of in-line bores to maintain the treads in a horizontal position when the stringers are inclined forwardly to an ascent angle. A rotatable bracket is located at the upper end of each of the inside channels enabling them to be mounted in an inclined position to the upper level of a structure.

  • Patent number: 4538479
Abstract: A reversible torque hand crank or lever for machine tools comprises a generally elongated cylindrically outlined hub having a blind bore located axially in the mounting face of the hub for mounting the hub fixedly to a feed mechanism shaft of the machine. The end of the hub opposite the mounting face has a generally flat lever mounting face substantially parallel to the hub mounting face. An arm guide channel having parallel arm support side walls and oppositely disposed symmetrical straight bottom walls which walls are sloped from the apex to form guide arm support planes depending outwardly at an obtuse angle to the hub faces is located diametrically and transversely on said hub.A pair of oppositely disposed hub bearing bores are transversely located in said hub perpendicular to said channel at its apex.

  • Patent number: 4425932
Abstract: A device for transfer of critical liquids, such as molten metals, has a body member including a short leg inlet liquid conveying passage submergeable in a large storage vessel containing the critical liquid. An intermediate high level liquid conveying passage is disposed over the vessel and connected in fluid transferring relationship to the inlet portion at one end, and at its other end to a long down leg passage which is connected to a smaller liquid storing chamber positioned substantially lower than the liquid level in the storage vessel. A pouring outlet is connected to the lower chamber to conduct liquid out of the lower chamber. The flow of metal is controlled by a vacuum source selectively connectable to the high level passage which causes a siphon action through the device. The lower chamber is adapted in cooperation with its storage vessel, to maintain a vacuum in the system during start up and the transfer of liquid from the storage vessel to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4403488
Abstract: A device for holding a key ring or the like in a handbag which has an elongated one-piece plastic body. The body includes a bill-like portion having a mouth-like opening defining two oppositely disposed jaws arranged and adapted to slip over and resiliently grip an open edged interior compartment wall in the handbag, such as a center compartment wall. An inclined shoulder portion holds the jaws cantilevered in clamping position on the wall. A necked-down substantially elongated key ring holder portion is connected in off-centered relationship to said shoulder oppositely to said mouth, which necked-down portion or protrusion forms a ledge with the shoulder behind the neck for securing and suspending the key ring on the compartment wall where it is eminently visible and readily available.

  • Patent number: 4286444
Abstract: A hang-lock device adapted to be fastened to a wall for hanging a hand propelled yard machine such as a snow thrower, or lawn mower, by a tubular portion of its structure, and for simultaneously protecting such machine against theft. The device includes a bracket portion mounted to a wall with blind screws, a lower, relatively wide, jaw cavity depending from the bracket portion for containing a confined structural part of the machine therein. An upper jaw latch plate is hinged pivotably to the upper horizontal edge of the bracket portion against the wall, extends downwardly therefrom, and overlaps the forward lip of the lower jaw a substantial distance to form a latchable and unlatchable closure around the confined structure of the machine.A hasp is fixedly fastened to the forward lip of the jaw cavity, which hasp extends through and registers with a closely fitting opening in the lower portion of such upper latch jaw.

  • Patent number: 4274219
Abstract: A trolling tackle device having a reversible power drive reel for raising and lowering a metal line and a heavy sinker in deep water trolling. A fishing line, bait and hooks are releasably attached adjacent the sinker and are thus to be lowered to the desired depth and are arranged to separate from the sinker line when a fish takes the bait. The drive is controlled by a switch so that when the sinker and tackle reach the desired depth, the switch is automatically opened and the reel is stopped with the tackle at a predetermined depth. When a fish is caught the fisherman throws the switch and the sinker line and sinker are pulled up by the power reel, preventing fouling of the lines by the action of the fish. When the sinker reaches the desired height the switch is automatically opened and the sinker held at a predetermined height.

  • Patent number: 4234183
Abstract: My novel game apparatus is herein disclosed. The apparatus comprises a central generally rectangularly outlined net portion having obliquely outlined comfort handles disposed at each end. A centrally positioned ball locating opening is provided in the net portion between the handles. A player can comfortably and quickly propel and receive a suitable ball by imparting the proper movements to the device due to the novel shape of the handles without placing undue strain on the player's body and arms. The device can be used in various team and individual competitive games, both indoors and outdoors. The device is fabricated out of readily available and inexpensive materials and is suitable for low-cost manufacturing and distribution in volume.

  • Patent number: 4186958
Abstract: My dump-truck Tail Gate Spread Chain Release has oppositely spaced bearing members mounted to the dump-truck tail gate adjacent the bottom edge thereof. A chain release holding and release toggle member is pivotably mounted between said spaced bearing members. I fasten a cantilevered arm to said pivotable member, extending upwardly therefrom and fastened fixedly but removably to said truck tail gate. The chain is held in a slotted opening in said pivotable member at selective spaced intervals so that the tail gate may be adjusted to any desired position for allowing materials therein to fall from the truck body. When it is desired to release the chain from the weight of the tail gate and materials in the truck, the cantilevered arm is released from the upper portion of the end gate and the pivotable chain holding member is then pivoted downwardly from dead center in the direction of the pull of said chain, allowing said chain to be easily removed from said slotted opening.

  • Patent number: 4186951
Abstract: My adjustable macrame working device is comprised of a wide base which is preferably self supported on the floor. I have provided an elongated substantially tall, upwardly standing, vertical post which is rigidly and integrally connected to the base. I further provide an elongated, cantilevered lever arm or beam which is adjustably connected substantially horizontal to the post. The end of the beam connected to the post is provided with a manually operable height adjusting means, including a lever action fulcrum portion which secures said beam slidably but non-detachably laterally and exerts frictional holding pressure on opposite sides of the post by gravitational force when the beam is hanging in horizontal position. Rapid selection of the height of the beam is obtained by lifting upwardly on the beam which releases the fulcrum pressure on the post allowing the beam to be slid freely upwardly and downwardly.
